hello everyone,

wow!! it is so nice to learn that i am not the only one who is totally sold out for cathe. I just joined today and was just wanting to introduce myself and maybe get some feedback. My name is Ki (pronounced key) and I am 24 years old. I have been exercising faithfully for about 3 years. Almost 2 years ago I started working out with an aerobics teacher who turned out to be my personal trainer for about 1 year. She has recently had a baby and I recently moved so I am really missing good, kick butt workouts until I discovered Cathe on fit tv. I am so crazy about her work ethic and her seriousness about making each workout efficient. Does Cathe have just a cardio series? I really struggle in this area and absolutely hate running, which I was told is the fastest way to burn calories and fat. Can anyone recommend anything that has worked consistently.

Hi, Ki! Welcome to the forums.
Cathe has both cardio (she started out with step aerobics, but has expanded into kickboxing, and some hi-lo as well) and strength workouts: some of the best strength workouts on video! If you have FitTV, you can see some of these workouts as well (Cathe is on 4 times a day, I think!).

Some of Cathe's most "kick butt" cardio workouts are her IMAX (Interval Max) workouts: Interval Max, IMAX2 (from the Intensity series) and the upcoming IMAX 3 (part of the new Hardcore series that has just recently been filmed and should be available in January or Febuary.

Spinning is also supposed to be an efficient calorie burner.

Just wanted to welcome you to the forum Ki!:D

I like Step Blast and Rhythmic Step. Excellent cardio workouts, IMO. Lots of fun, challenging choreography...and I'm covered in sweat after finishing each workout, so they DO kick butt.

I'm seriously looking forward to receiving my upcoming DVD's of the new workouts, though! It looks like there are a few good cardio workouts in the mix. :)

Hi Ki and Welcome! Cathe has some great cardio and like Kathryn said, besides step she has kickboxing and some hi/lo. I love her latest Step Blast and Step Jump and Pump DVD as well as Kick Punch and Crunch from her Body Blast series. (You may have seen these on FitTV.) In reality though, all of Cathe's cardio workouts are excellent and it's just what you like to do - whatever you decide you won't be disappointed!! :) :)

hi kathryn,

thanks for welcoming me and writing back; one question though: what exactly is spinning?

Hi Ki and welcome. Cathe has lot of cardio workout: step blast, IMAX 1 and 2( interval cardio workouts), maximun intensity cardio with 35 minutes of a intense hi/low and 30 minutes of step easy to learn and fun to do. If you like kickboxing you have Kick, punch and crunch, cardio kicks and the ctx kickbox. If you want variety go to the ctx series dvd. In these workouts you will find a piece of everything: hi/low, step, intervals, kickbox etc. There are lot of great workouts to choose. Believe me you have found the best personal trainer. Cathe is going to make you sweat.Welcome.

Welcome Ki! Spinning is what using a stationary bike is called. It's pretty tough! I prefer Cathe myself. All of the above mentioned workouts are great cardio. i haven't gotten any of the kickboxing stuff yet, but the Imax2, Cardio and Weights, and Step Blast are the hardest in my opinion. these are where my heart rate stays the highest. Have fun deciding what to order!

Spinning is actually a trademark name (By Johnny G) for a stationary bike routine that has you doing sprints, and standing work, and other types of moves that replicate riding on the road. "Spinning"-type workouts use a special stationary bike that is like riding a real bike, or you can get an attachment (a "trainer") for a real bike that allows you to use it for spinning.

There are several biking workouts on DVD and video: Mindy Mylrea, Jay Blahnik and Robert Sherman have workouts. "Spinervals" is a series of tough bike workouts that are lead by "coach Troy," who trains bike racers and triathletes.

Hi Ki - welcome! I think the most heavy-duty cardio workouts are the IMAX and Kick, Punch, Crunch. You'll have better luck burning calories quickly, though, if you incorporate weights. Which, I'm sure others have already told you, but I haven't read through the thread yet.

Welcome onboard!
