Need support for AM workout

I am trying very hard to get back in shape. They have an arobics class at my work at noon. It's not as tough as Cathe but overall very good. My frustration is that if it gets cancelled there is no one as a back up and then I loose a day. Plus it's only 3 days a week. I am trying to be very consistant so the weight will come off!

I used to work out before work (before the holidays), and now my morning schedule has changed with my husband so I have to be ready by 6:30. Therefore I work out I have to get up by 4:30am. This just seams so early. I think I can do it but I could use some support. I would love to workout at night but I know that's not an option, running after two 15month old boys wears me out!

Thanks for listing.

Stacey,
How many days a week do you work? I work 3 days a week, as a nurse (12hour shifts) and after trying to get myself up at 4:30 (unsuccessfully) for a long time, I now just work out on the 4 days I'm off. I do an hour of cardio and hour of weights on those days. Unlike you, my kids are not a factor, because they are older and almost gone...I'm hoping...
I'm not a good morning exerciser so after trying and trying to get myself up early, I just don't try anymore. I work out on the days I'm off and can sleep until 8 or 9. It works for me.

You may be a great morning person, but if not, you might concentrate on doing more on your days off. It's been a good answer for me. But if not for you, then I hope you can find a schedule that meets your fitness needs, but also gives you adequate rest. It is sooo very important, especially with little ones to take care of.
Lots of luck, and let me know if I can help in any way.

I get up early too Stacy- same time and I could never workout that early- I usually start at 6:30 or so. when my stepson comes over on the weekend I don't get a chance to workout- for a couple reasons- 1. we have a small apartment and there's no room and 2. i'm busy with him.......until I found the weider stepper. it's perfect he's 9 so he gets on it to when he sees me do it. also ggod to spread the word of fitness... but i keep it in the kitchen so that way i can step while I'm cooking or while they are watching a movie or playing playstation....just about 10 min. at a time...if you do that and other little excersizes like leg lifts or squats while cooking or brushing your teeth- these minutes add up and it's also very effective- research has showed that it's very good to do little workouts throughout the day- now I know that won't get your heart up for a good cardio- but the step will if you do it for 10 minutes then maybe go for a walk with the family. LOL it reminds me of that promo on fit tv where the woman goes everywhere and is doing little excersizes...funny but hey it works!!!

Hi stacy,
I don't have any "real"advice for you but once you get into a routine,it will become exactly that,a routine. But a good one.
What time do your boys go to bed? The thing with getting up that early,is that you are going to have to go to bed early. So,in my opinion it can work either way.You can go to bed early and get up early,or when your boys are a sleep you could do a CTX workout and then hit the sack yourself.I know its hard when your chasing kids around, but maybe if you had a few moments to sit and drink a cup of coffee and then workout.I like working out in the mornings b/c then I have it done. But it is a great stress releiver in the evenings.I think about all the things that happened that day.
But if you can get to bed early,I don't see why not.Sure you can do it.You can do anything you set your mind to.Even if you only worked out 2 times on the week days and then once on the weekend that wouldn't be to bad.You would only have to get up early 2 mornings.Do you own the CTX series,if not,you should diffently get it.They are some awesome workouts for people who don't have time on their sides.
Best of luck to you....we all know you can do it!:7

I get up at 4:30am normally to work out 'with Cathe' in the mornings (not on the weekends though!) I will agree it is rough but as mentioned, once you make it a routine, it becomes just that - routine. (but it's still hard to pull myself out of bed some mornings!)

Things that make it easier for me:
> this is MY time....granted it's just me and dh, but he certainly isn't going to be up that early. so, I have some quiet 'me' time.

> I'm usually not quite awake yet - I think that makes it easier sometimes! just be really careful with weights.

> I think to myself - in approx. one hour, I will have finished my workout and will be ready for the day! I won't have to worry about squeezing it in somewhere else!

> I don't feel 'guilty' eating whatever during the day because I already worked out! I hear it gives your metabolism a boost too.

I recommend going to bed a little earlier than you normally would or you will miss out on some sleep.

I hope you find a schedule that works for you!!!

Stacy, can you have a backup plan if the instructor doesn't show? Walk or run outside, climb stairs (the real ones in the building) are ideas. If a tv & video/dvd are out of the question, how about an audio workout, maybe one of those "walking" tapes.

I couldn't face 4:30 am workouts. You got a lot of good ideas above but couldn't your husband give you 20 - 30 minutes in the evening? Then you do 1 or 2 bodyparts of weight training. The CTX series is designed that way but you could cue up whatever workout you like.

A little flexibility training, whether it's yoga, pilates or plain, athletic stretching would be ideal. There are lots of 20 minute programs out there (actually some 10 minute too).

Then with the frenzy of twins (if I read your post correctly), you'd be getting plenty of exercise. That has to be a challenge!

Thank for your support!

I did get up early and did CTX. I think it might be ok as long as I get to bed to early.

I totally have the time at night to work out; I'm just to tired and just into relaxing or doing many household tasks. I think if I can workout 1 weekend day then I'll only work out 4 workdays. That should help and then I'll get one day during the week to sleep in. I love doing the CTX series and it's just the right length. My girlfriend also barrowed me the Time Saver from Body Blast and that's a great one to use when I really only have 45minutes to workout.

Thank you again for your support, I'm sure I'll be posting from time to time as it how it's going.

I just wanted to jump in here and say "hi" to Stacy and Kathy (and Jilly too). It was fun at our gathering a few weeks ago.

RE: Thank for your support!

Hi guys! It was very fun getting together the other weekend. I'm thinking that this summer maybe we can do it outside and have a picnic or something. Just a thought. Then I can always pick up Ajock on my out down there, if she can trust me not knowing who I am. Anyway, I just thought I would say hi too!

Hi guys! I had fun at the MOA too. Meeting you all was really a pump! It is so nice to know others who are into fitness (and Cathe!) too!

Stacy, sounds like you got some good advice and I am sure you will find a way to fit some killer Cathe workouts into your schedule.

Take care all!

I could quote the above EXACTLY!
I will add, I know it is tough to get up early. I'll hear the alarm go off at 4:30 and still be in a sound sleep and lay and think... I can NOT believe in a half hour I'll be doing IMAX!

RE: Thank for your support!

I'm such a loser!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I totally forgot about the gathering at MOA! I know, Kathy, you emailed me about it before the holidays, but I completely spaced it out and missed it! Darn it........

Sorry everybody from Minnesota! I will try my hardest NOT to forget the next gathering!

Marcia from Minnesota......

P.S. We're finally getting snow - anybody else?

Hey Stacy:

I'm with you - I am trying to get up in the morning (4:45am) to workout, too, but it's so cold and dark out I just can't move. I bought the Slim in Six series from Debbie Siever and it's low impact so maybe I can start out with her videos in the morning and work up to Cathe's. The thought of doing MIC or Bootcamp at 5am just is unbelievable to me.

Also, I was thinking - maybe we can try to get up 2 mornings to start and gradually add a day here and there until it becomes habit :)

Just my thoughts! Marcia. :)
