Need Suggestions

I am not new to fitness. I take cardio classes 3 to 4 times a week. I haven't done weights for about a year now. I used to exercise religiously for years, but burned myself out. I have Firm tapes. If I were to purchase Cathe's Tapes, where would you suggest that I begin?

If you plan on doing cardio classes outside the home and want Cathe strength workouts only, AND if you are only interested in videotapes, I would like to suggest the Maximum Intensity Strength tape, the Power Hour tape, and / or the Push-Pull or the SuperSets tape from the Body Blast Series. I think you need to seriously bring weights back into your weekly schedule.

If you want Cathe cardio workouts as well as strength, and again if you're limited to videotapes, I'd suggest the entire Cross Train Express series; this is a 6-video series, 5 of which include a 30-35-minute cardio workout (modes vary among step, kickbox and hi/lo) as well as isolated muscle strengthening and select ab workouts, and the 6th is exclusively dedicated to leg strengthening ("Leaner Legs"). CTX would be a good start for you.

If you have a DVD player, consider the above suggestions - Maximum Intensity Strength and Power Hour are included on one DVD with Body Max as well; Push-Pull and Supersets are also on one DVD, and the CTX series is a 2-DVD system that has each workout by itself, AND upper body and all abs premixes.

If you like step you have Step blast and SJP in the same dvd.If you want weight I recomend ME.It is an awesome workout with a fantastic music.I like to do the upper body premix and with 45 minutes you have a great workout. In the same dvd you have bootcamp a fffffantastic workout without step with 1 minute of cardio, 1 minute of upper body, 1 minute of lower body and 1 minutes of hard abs.8 cycles in total marvellous.A five stars workout. In another dvd you have another favorite imax 2 an interval training very fun. If you want kickboxing you have Cardio kicks, I love the sequence of habs , punches,KPC and the CTX series. Whatever you buy you are not going to regret it.I have all the dvd of cathe,I have ordered in ck sales the abs hits I could not avoid it,and i have preorder the 11 dvd of hardcore.Caution: When you buy a cathe workout you can stop since you have all the collection.Welcome.

That's alot of information! I will look at the Maximum Intensity. I do kickboxing about 4 times a week and I prefer the group setting for cardio. Thanks alot. Oh, what about body bars? can I get them at a sporting goods store like Dick's?

I do not know because I am spanish.Talking about maximum intensity do you know MIC named maximun intensity cardio .70 minutes of cardio one half hi/low ¿Who says hi/low was not hard to do?the other half is step easy with not dificult chorography.I sweat bullet when I do this workout. It is an old cathe but when I need intensity I do it. It leaves you without breath. If you want intensity you have my loooved terminator too: three extra long workouts made with segments of the intensity series. My favorite is the gaunlet but the three are great.

Thank You for the reply. I bookmarked the site you recommended. Now I need to figure out how heavy a bar to get. Since I'm not new to lifting, I thought about the 15# bar. Is the bar mostly used for lunges and squats?

Mary Ann,

I have all of Cathe's Intensity Series and Body Blast Series. Cathe uses a barbell in those, not a Body Bar. You would have more flexibility with a barbell, since you can add weight plates as you progress. I think Cathe uses anywhere from 25# to 40# on her lower body work.
