Need some helping, not feeling well at all.

I was not going to post about this because I thought by now I would feel better, but I don't. Up until this past Monday night, I had more energy and drive than I have ever felt in my life, I even posted about this surge of energy on the STS board.

Then Monday night, I experienced something similar to an asthma attack during a cardio class, by the next day, my eyes were itching like mad and I was feeling tired, then by Wednesday, I was even more lethargic and my throat, 1 tonsil, and that hangy thing in the back of my throat is swollen, but there is no pain at all. Every now and then I get these wierd chills, but no fever, actually my temp is around 97.8. I had assumed all of this was just really bad allergies, but the 24/7 fatigued feeling doesn't seem like it could just be allergies. Other than some sniffles, I don't feel like I have a cold. I took a sinus pill this morning, so no sniffling now.

So, I'm sitting here feeling unnaturally tired, I just took a short nap, my whole body feels "weighted", I can feel the tired (so to speak) on my skin, and my throat felt better this morning then got worse again by 2pm. All I can think about is when I'll feel ok again to do a workout.

I plan on going to the doctor as soon as I can get an appointment on Monday, but I'm getting a little worried, I can't for the life of me figure out what this could be, and I've never experienced anything like this.

So just really wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this?

I'm really not sure what it could be. I don't tend to get sick (knock on wood), but it could be flu or maybe even strep. I would definitely go to the doctor early on Monday. If it's really worrisome, you might even consider going to a walk-in clinic today.

Sooner might actually be better. The fatigue and lethargy are what would be worrying me more than anything.

I hope it's nothing more than a bad cold maybe mixed with some allergies. I have allergies and it can really sap your energy.

Feel better soon!

Dela: so sorry you are feeling crappy! Does not sound like you bounced back after earlier in the week... if you start feeling worse, please don't hesitate to go to a minor emergency clinic or something like that before Monday comes around... probably not ER worthy unless you get another asthmatic attack, but it's just not like you to be so run down! continue drinking lots of fluids to keep up your hydration and eat what you can...

again, if you feel you are getting worse before monday have DH take you to a minor emergency clinic or even the ER... with all the scare of swine flu it's harder these days to get into the Dr's office and you don't want to wait too long.

Hugs to you and hope you are feeling better soon!

I am really sorry you are not well. For the past 3 years during spring allergies season in May I get horrible tiredness and light headed to the point that I have stay home for 3 days and do nothing. I had allergies test that showed I am allergic to maple tree pollen. Interestingly, I have abosolutely no common symptoms of allergies, that normally people have (runny and itchy nose, etc), just an extreme tiredness and lightheadness. Claritin seems to help with the dizziness but the tiredness is awfull. First year when it happened I tought I had a chronic fatigue, I felt like I was run by a truck. I read online that some people get very tired with allregies. You should talk to your doctor. Good Luck!

Thanks guys, I just looked up some of those clinics, but everything closes at 4pm, I had felt better this AM, so it didn't dawn on me until later to look it up. So, I guess I'll wait until Monday, and call first thing in the AM.

Funny thing, my appetite is fine (of all the things, that stays :p), but I have felt much more dehydrated. It's such an odd feeling, at least if my throat was sore, I would know I was just sick with a cold or flu, but it all seems so random and foreign.

I keep googling, but nothing really matches. I so wish I had made an appointment on Friday, I don't like going to the doctor, the few times I've gone with somewhat random pains or things, they never seem to know anything. I always feel like it is such a waste of time, but at least I have a swollen throat to show them

Hi Magda, thank you. How long did the fatigue last for you? I've been taking Claritin almost daily for a while, it helps keep the normal allergies at bay. But not doing much for whatever this is.

Ok, I've never ever done anything like this, and I don't care if I'm out $15, but I went on a site called justanswer, and posted my question, hopefully to real doctors. I'll keep you posted if I was entirely ripped off or only partially:p.

Update:
Well, you know what, it was worth the $15. The responding doctor said that it sounds like an upper respiratory virus, which for some reason did not dawn on me, but all my googling never produced 'virus' as an answer. For some reason, I just feel better with this answer, whenever I feel sick, and I can't pinpoint the exact issue, I panic a little, and this at least makes sense. At least I won't be panicked all weekend, and I'll make the doctor appointment on Monday if there is no improvement.

Thanks again for your kind words and good advice.

Sounds like you have the ick yuck funk. I would think that if it started Mon night, you'd be feeling a bit better by now. I hate that "ugh, tired" feeling. Have you brought anything new into the house that could be kicking off new allergies, or planted new trees/bushes? Or even doing home renovations, tearing out drywall and such? Rest the remainder of today and tomorrow, don't push it, and if you still feel cruddy on Mon, call the Dr. Hope you feel better soon, that "uck" feeling sucks. Drink lots of hot tea, too, it'll help your throat and they dehyradated feeling. Traditional Medicinals makes a good tea called Throat Coat. It tastes a bit like licorice (not a fave) but it really will make your throat feel better. They sell it at Target and Walmart, and Jewel (Albertsons) carries it as well. Its about $5/box, but worth it. Its in the normal coffee/tea aisle.

Well, I had mother's day at my house on Sunday, so had about 10 people over, but I'm not sure if viruses incubate that quickly, and my cousin is a teacher, so she is exposed to lots of kid germs. It does seem like a long time already, I wonder if I sped things up with the monday kickbox class and the general "stress" of exercise on the body when it's fighting something. I guess I should not have done the last 2 meso 3 workouts either . I seem very slow to accept being sick, I always think it's allergies or something first, unless it's a true standard cold and flu and I can quickly relate how I'm feeling to another time.

Other than guests, no new trees or house work. I should start drinking the tea, I read green tea has other benefits when you are ill too, actually, I've been eating like 4 whole garlic cloves chopped up into my salad for the past few days, I read it has anti-viral properties, hey I'll try anything, but I'm out of salad, and almost out of garlic :p.

Thanks for all the good advice! Oh, I think I've said it before, not sure, but I just love the slinky comment :D

Sorry you're feeling so crummy and hope that you'll get some solid answers when you see the Dr. tomorrow. You probably already know this, but a virus typically takes 7-10 days to run it's course so it's normal that you would still be feeling this bad several days later. If you aren't taking Vitamin C, I'd add that (up to 2000 mg daily) as it will boost your immune response.

Some other random thoughts: clean things you regularly touch (doorknobs, light switches, faucets, keyboards, mice, cabinet pulls, etc) as the germs will linger there and re-infect you. You can use those clorox wipes as they are fast and easy. I have 2 kids in school so the germ potential is always HUGE. Frequent handwashing and wiping off the surfaces I mentioned really helps to keep things at bay. If you have an extra toothbrush, throw away your current one and use a new one. If you have a sonic care or other non-disposable one, you can disinfect the head in something like listerine.

Take care and please don't push yourself physically. It seems thats your body is telling you it needs to heal by resting so let it rest.

Hope you feel better soon--

Thanks Jonahnah, good idea about disinfecting, I filled a spray bottle with alcohol, and have been spraying things down. I do have the sonic care, so I'm going to do what you said and go the listerine route, I'll do that today, then keep doing it everyday until this is gone. I really hope DH doesn't catch this, he caught my last stomach bug in March, I hate getting other people sick. Luckily I can work from home and do 3 days a week anyway, so I'll be staying home and not infecting others I hope, I have to go in on Thursday, but that puts me at day 11, so I should be ok by then.

Before I realized this was more than allergies, I did 2 workouts last week, but by Friday, I realized something else was going on, and have vowed to not workout until the lethargic feeling is gone. Unfortunately, I have not lost my appetite like so many others do when they get sick :p.

I can see the throat/tonsil swelling is down today, but for some odd reason, I start to feel worse in the afternoon, so if I sustain this level, I'm not going to bother with the Dr. visit, there is no pain, so it's unlikely an infection, and there is nothing they can do for a virus at this point anyway.

Thanks again, off to disinfect some more!

Dela, it sounds like maybe you're fighting off a virus- when I'm fighting something off, my energy level takes a major dive.

Dela-the fatigue lasted 3-5 days. First 3 days were the worst, I had to stay home and just lay down in the bed. I hope you feel good soon!!!
