Need new step workouts but have all of Cathe's!

Hi,

I like to do step workouts and am looking for new ones (just to get some new challlengens!) except that I have all of Cathe's step workouts !!!!(except the 4DS which I don't plan to get at the moment). Do you have suggestions of instructors that have workouts similar to Cathe's (while I hope that Cathe will make new step workouts soon!) ?
I'm looking for step workouts with at least 35 min. of cardio. I like medium to high intensity workouts like the Imaxes, BM2, Step blast, Cardio fusion, etc. Any ideas?

How complex do you like the choreography to be? My absolute favorite step workout is actually on sale at www.advancedworkouts.com - it's Rock Steady Step by Seasun Zeigler. It's challenging, but oh so fun! And unlike some of the other challenging ones - once you learn it, it does not seem to get too easy. It still keeps my HR way up there.

Athletic Step Jam (another CIA which may be on sale as well) is another goodie - not as tough choreographally, but nice and challenging.

You should take a look at Sharon Twombley's step workouts. She is athletic rather than dancy and highly choreographed. in the latter category belong Amy Bento, Tracey Staehle, and Seasun whatever her name is that the previous poster alluded to. Intensity can come from constant spins and pivots, direction changes like the three ladies mentioned above, or from more impact moves/athletic moves and Sharon is closer to Cathe in this respect. Check her out on the cia website.

Personally I like Christi Taylor Workouts. Fantastic Four is a good place to start. Step Heaven is one of my favorite workouts. (Part of Fantastic Four) Some of her other workouts, such as Totally Cool Step and Solid Gold Step are also great. You can add an extra riser if you want an extra challenge. Christi tends to be a bit more complex than Cathe, but it is totally doable. She has interesting choreography and great music. Her sunny disposition is very motivational. I've had great results doing her workouts. She does tend to have more of a "dance" flavor to her workouts, but I find them FUN and I look forward to doing her workouts. Some workouts are pure work...that is not the case at all with Christi's workouts. Time flies by. Tell us know which workouts you try.

Kelly Coffey Meyer for Cardio Kick Step Boxing 2.

I am choreo challenged but an intensity junkie. Cathe's are the only Step workouts (barring a few exceptions) that I have ever enjoyed.

I recently got Kelly's Cardio Step Boxing 2. My oh my! Love it. She is fast but not complicated and the DVD has a tutorial.

Think of the Kick-box step portion in Cardio and Weights - only an entire workout of many, many combos that flow non-stop like it.

Mindy Mylrea:

"Interval Express" (on same disc as "Action Packed Workout"; IE is on the same intensity level, IMHO, as I-Max 2)

"Awesome Intervals" (on its own disc; again, same intensity level as I-max 2)

"Cardio Toolbox" (on its own disc; contains 15- to 17-minute cardio blasts for floor, step-kickbox, athletic {Sporty} step and interval step)

I know a lot of people have issues with Mindy's cueing style (sometimes she is indeed off, and sometimes she doesn't perform the same number of reps for each side; you have to stick a few more reps in on your own), but I like her, and I really like "Interval Express" especially.

I love Amy Bento and I enjoy Mindy Mylrea--you might want to look into them.

I second what many have alreaday suggested...
Athletic Step Jam is tough and fun!
Kelly Coffey-Mayers newest Stepboxing is fabulous!
I love, love, love Amy Bento (all of her workouts, especially her cardio) but her step and hilow is a bit more complex than Cathe's, but once you learn them they are nothing but a blast and a sweatfet for sure!

Another vote for Christie Taylor! Also enjoy Nekea Brown (Amazing Hot Stepping), Gay Gasper (less complex), Amy Bento (more complex), and just learning a Patrick Goudeau (most dancy and complex).

Amy Bento's ASC2. It's truthfully the only other step workout I have. I have lots of other instructors' KB & hi/lo, but no other step.

Why not 4DS? I do LIS/HIS all the time. It's about 50 minutes & a pretty intense cal burner.

Hi
Sorry about the delay in aswering, I was out of town this week. I'll check out some of them. There are a couple of names I had seen before like Amy Bento or Tracy Staehle and some are new to me but seem very interesting. The way I see it, if Cathe fans like these instructors, I might like them too. :)
Thanks all for your suggestions.

I second Amy Bento or Tracey Staehle. Bento's ASC2 is a challenge and Amy has is an awesome HI/LO instructor. And her music rocks. Tracey is a great step instructor but her cueing can take some getting used to. Her step workouts are also challenging.

I looked into some of the suggestions. Many of them seem very interesting but there are so many possiblities, I became a bit confused. My biggest concern is intensity.
So, I narrowed it down to the ones listed below and I'm consulting you again! I'd like to know if you think they would give me what I'm looking for (at least 35 min. of step, intense cardio, as intense as Imaxes, BM2, Stap blast, Cardio fusion)

- Athletic step jam by Sharon Twombly
- Step sweatfast, High int. step mix 1 by Tracy Staehle
- Int. extreme, Awesome int. by Mindy Myrlea
- Rock Steady step, The next step by Seasun Zeiger
- Step this way by Kristin Kagen
- ASC II by Amy Bento

If you think some are missing, I'd be glad to know of them.

Thanks a lot
Nathalie
