Need help with plateau!

I have been doing the PS series for 4 wks, with various types of cardio (HIIT) in between. I do all upper body WOs Mon, Fri; Lower Body WOs Wed, then reverse the next wk. Tues, Thurs and Saturdays are always cardio.

I've been steadily loosing inches, no pounds. For the past two wks, I have had no losses at all. I eat clean (BodyForLife) nutrition.

I am waiting for the S&H DVD to arrive (and have all of the new ones pre-ordered). I was torn between S&H and PH.

Can any of you offer suggestions to get past this plateau? Is S&H the right DVD to shake me up and shock my body? I WANT all of them ;-) but ...

Hi Dee,
You definitely picked a fantastic dvd, the S&H, to get you off the plateau. (PH is also awesome, but S&H rotation for 3 weeks has amazing results because it is so different from the endurance results that PS series, PH and MIS give). For me S&H rotation every couple of months has made me much stronger and much more defined and cut.
Great work!
:)

Thanks, bfj! Now I'm even more excited about S&H! I really like PS so am sure this one will be just as outstanding.

I am doing Super Cardio Max by the Firm. I am not too thrilled with it, though. It does kick my butt but like Cathe's style a lot more. I want some Cathe cardio but don't know what to start with. I have all 4 of the new ones ordered but don't know if I can wait that long... I was thinking Cardio Kicks but still haven't made myself do the TaeBo workouts :O Is Cardio Kicks relatively easy to follow?

Like the other posters, I heartily agree that Slow and Heavy will help you bust the plateau. As far as Cardio Kicks is concerned, yes it is relatively easy to follow - if a klutz like me can get the choreography within 2-3 tries, anyone can.

As far as other cardio options - it's time, my friend, to go All Cathe (with the possible exception of bringing in Powerstrike kickbox as well). I think a GREAT plateau-buster for cardio intensity would be Interval Max (the first one). That is, minute for minute, I think the toughest workout on the market. You may also want to consider Maximum Intensity Cardio; it has a great hi/lo section (not easy to find these days), so you would then have a good balance among kickbox, step and hi/lo.

Also consider Circuit Max, which has hi/lo, kickbox/step-kickbox, and step interspersed with resistance circuits.

I wouldn't worry too much about the scale not moving. Just concentrate on your performance capabilities (i.e. able to continually go longer and stronger with your workouts) and how your clothes are fitting.

Hope this helps -

Just my two cents, but if you are losing inches, then you are making progress. I wouldn't use the scale as an indicator of progress. I'd go with the inches lost. My guess is that your body fat percentage has dropped quite a bit.

That being said, I had great strength gains with a 4 week S/H series and really enjoyed it.
