This is the most hilarious website I've come across in a looooong time. I can't stop laughing, which is not good, because I'm at work. :p

I think it's also important to read the FAQ to understand why poor translation is so common in Japan and China (and not as common in other countries). The website isn't meant to make fun of anyone or be offensive in any way. It's just finding the humor in bad translations. And believe me... there is much humor! :D

Unfortunately this is part of my everyday work! I worked for a Japanese company for 6 years and now a Korean company for 3.

My favorite engrish translation was from one of my Japanese co-workers who wanted to add 4 "hooks" to the design. Instead of "hooks" he wrote "f***s"....phonetically they are similar to how it would be written in Japanese.

LOL! Well, gosh, everyone wants 4 of those! The product would've sold much better! ;)

Sounds like something my DH would say. He's from India and never quite got the 'V' down. We still laugh about the confusion when we were taking a trip to visit a friend of mine in Vail, and I thought he was planning another trip to Wales! I was so bummed!
 
Oh here's another funny DH and I used to laugh at. Our favorite Thai restaurant used the star * system for spicyness to "indicate your degree of desired spicy" The code below showed 4 stars as the one for "spicy lovers" :)
 
Makes you wonder what some Americans really have written in tattoos, T-shirts, wall coverings, etc. that are in Chinese or Japanese characters. On their part they are probably laughing their heads off at silly Americans who think they have "peace" tattooed on their ankle but instead it's something like "cheese monkey".

Lainie, I've wondered the same thing! LOL at "cheese monkey"! Now, that's a great tattoo!!! (And also would be a great name for a band!) :D
