Naughty or Nice?

Of course I am talking about FOOD everyone!!!

I am on the naughty list when it comes to Christmas and food. Every year, without fail, I indulge. The only "healthy" food on our table around the holidays, is fruit, veggies & assorted nuts (nuts get preferential treatment). Everything else is calorie laden from the mouthwatering lasagna, to the breaded stuffed chicken with ham & cheese, to the roasted potatoes, to the endless pies, cakes, cookies, chocolate & candies (it's nice to have a baker in the family). We give new meaning to the phrase "eat, drink & be merry". But hey, it's Christmas, and indulging in all this wonderful food is what makes this special occasion so great IMO.

To be honest, I don't deny myself anything, but I don't stuff myself either. I try to limit my portions while incorporating all my favorite food. I think that does the trick. I never feel sick or bloated and I am always happy that I got to enjoy myself without denial. I also made time for my workouts, although I am pretty certain I ate through any calories I burned . Did I mention that I banned myself from Mr.Evil Liar (aka The Scale)?

So how was everyone this year? Naughty, Nice or perhaps a little bit of both :)

My naughtiest this Holiday season is my Mom's bread pudding made with bourbon. I will not deny myself too much also if I eat bad one day, I try to eat healthy the next.
Limiting portion sizes is the best that works for me.

I ate and drank what I wanted and as much as I wanted w/o guilt on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I work my butt off with my w/o's and my diet the majority of the time so I deserve a few guilt free cheat days I think! It was awesome! ;):D And I will do the same for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day too! :)

While the food and drink during the holidays is more plentiful and definitely more rich and sinful, I don't indulge in it any more than I do on a regular day.

Eating too much food is really an uncomfortable state for me, and I don't do it in any situation. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy my food, or enjoy the holidays, but my eating habits just don't change.

My whole family is pretty much like this. We received the most delicious cheesecake I've ever tasted as a gift. A friend of ours who is a fabulous cook made it for us. I ate probably 3-4 bites... and promptly gave it away to my sister in law. That kind of food is just too rich and too dense for me. That said, I think sis-in-law and her family got much joy from the cheesecake! ;)

I'm definitely on the naughty list! I agree with your attitude about food. I'm not into denial, but I eat well most of the time. I'm actually craving healthy food after all the junk. There just may be a thing as too much chocolate!:p

My weakness is Food Network, Cooking Channel, and some of the food shows on The Travel Channel. In the summer, it's easier for me to eat clean with fruits/veggies. During the cold winter months in mid-Michigan, it's a different story. Today has been freezing rain and snow so I'm more inclined to have something more like chili, spaghetti, lasagna, etc...Portion sizes and some calorie control like having a big lunch and no dinner. With my family originally from eastern Europe, the saying is "Eat breakfast like King, lunch like a Queen and dinner like a pauper"

Luckily it just wasn't much of an issue this year since I only had 1 holiday event to go to, kind of sounds depressing, but honestly it's not since we are all getting together mid January. Even our vacation ended up being unintentionally very rational eating. Thank goodness the holidays did not add any extra pounds, cause the weight I gained this year pretty much started last May, and I just can't seem to get it back down again yet.
