My version of pyramid total body

Shaz

Cathlete
I have done this a couple of times recently, and think it is a really good total body heavy weights workout. I'm not keen on the DVD's total body premix because it doesn't include floor leg work. I also prefer abs without a stability ball.

I pause for 20-30 seconds after each superset to keep the weights heavy. For example, for chest, I would do chest flyes and presses for 12 reps, then pause the DVD for 20 seconds, then continue...

From pyramid lower body pyramid up (ie sets of 12, 10, 8):
1. Warmup
2. Squats
3. Deadlifts (or hamstring curls using my bench/attachment)
4. Calf raises

All of pyramid upper body pyramid up (ie sets of 12, 10, 8), except warm-up/cooldown, ie:
5. Chest
6. Back
7. Shoulders
8. Triceps
9. Biceps

From pyramid lower body:
10. Floor leg work

From Cardio and Weights:
11. Abs and planks
12. Cooldown/stretch

Yes, I'm not keen on lunges - very bad for my knees. I will probably do the leg presses sometimes instead of squats, but again, my knees aren't keen on heavy leg presses.
