My tummy bulge is due to...

Cathlete
adneomyosis-in which tissue that normally lines the uterus also grows w/in the muscular walls of the uterus. I find a few days before my period, I look like about 3-4 months pregnant(yeah)I quess my ? is no amount of crunches will help, right? I guess I have to learn to accept this and wait for menopause (when symptoms usually disappear) to help out. UGH! Anyone else going thru this? Thanks Kay

Sorry you have to go through this. It must be uncomfortable to
have your stomach that bloated. Any suggestions on line?
Did your GYN have any recommendations?

My ob/gyn suggestes Aleve for the pain(which is usually the first day). I found this out after a vaginal ultrasound showed some masses on and in my uterus. My Dr. had me go for a Pelvic MRI, which determined the adenomyosis. I'm bloated for the duration of my period. But I'm still crunching away. I'd apprecite any advice on this. I hear the only cure is a hysterectomy, but I'm not near ready for that option.

Hi Getting Fit Mom,

I don't blame you as far as surgery goes. How about seeking a second
opinion? If you hear the same diagnosis twice then maybe you will
feel differently. I don't know enough about what you have but
the masses although benign should be removed???? If they are causing
some of the pain can't that deal with ridding your body of them.

I just had a hysterectomy in September for the exact same thing. I am 40 and opted for the removal of the uterus as I have had endometriosis for years. I was able to control symptoms somewhat by working out, but then with the addition of the endometriosis going into the wall of the uterus, it became too much. Heavy bleeding and cramps were the daily scenario. I run as well as do Cathe's DVDs and running with back cramps is exhausting.

I feel great now. I can't begin to tell you how my life has improved. The recovery was frustrating as I couldn't exercise for 6 weeks (I did a tiny bit), but it was well worth it.

right now the masses are small, and the pain is only on the first day of my cycle. The bloating goes away when my cycle is done. This is only my thrid cycle since I found out. If this is how it is, not too bad yet. I hear enymetreosis(sp?) is different, the unterine lining becomes implanted outside then uterus. I believe this would be more painful.
I get back cramps the day before. So far it's managable Kay

I also have this. was diagnosed over 2 yrs ago. My doctor only suggests hysterectomy after other steps that one being the last and final one. they can go is and laser them or I think freeeze the uterus. also I think the pill helps but I opted not to go on it. My pain is tolerable but I definately have heavy bleeding the first 3 days. I dont have much cramps except the first day or so. I feel more pain during ovulation time for some reason.anyway, I recently feel like my stomach is flatter than it has in a long time. It all has to do with gaining wt . when I eat better and I cut out certain foods that cause bloating my abs are much flatter. goodluck!

Laura, now that you mention it, I do feel crampy around ovulation. I too opted not to do the pill. Oh well, w/ info that it will go away w/ menopause, I say bring it on:) Thanks for the info. I have ben tryingto watch what I eat, I'll just keep pluggin' along. Thanks, Kay
