I pasted this here from Tracey's website where I posted my review of Strike Zone.
I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy of Strike Zone along with Vrinda and Rhonda. My husband and I did it this morning after previewing it once but my husband ony previewed the first 5 minutes.
I'm not going to give a detailed list of everything that happens in the workout since Tracey, Vee, and Rhonda already have. I'll just give my thoughts on the overall feel and quality of the workout after doing it once through.
The lighting was great in this. Don't worry about it being too dark like in the clips. They weren't "in the dark" like in Circuit Zone but it wasn't too bright either. It gave a great feeling like they found an old building to fight in in the middle of the night. I liked the industrial feel of it with the black, metal, and brown. Nothing felt too overdone or like they were on a movie or video set, it just felt so real.
I hope the music levels stay like they are on this DVD that was burned for me. Usually I have to crank my TV to the highest it will go to 100 just to have the music pumping but I only had to turn it to 50 and the music was loud and full of energy. Even with the music loud their voices weren't piercing or distracting. The mix between the loud music and their voices was spot on. That is something I didn't like about Circuit Zone because if I turned the volume way up to hear the music, the voices were way to loud. So perfect music/voice ratio.
There were a few tiny mistakes but not to where it totally distracts from the workout. I just really noticed because I knew I was going to review so was especially observant.
I loved the banter between Tracey and Josef. They mesh well together and didn't seem fake. It felt like they've known each other for ever. The whole cast seems to truly respect each other. Even though they joke and poke fun, they still make sure to be serious when commenting on proper form and technique and explaining why you do a punch, block, or kick a certain way which was great.
Their form is so great in this workout compared to the last two of her kickboxing workouts. I especially have to comment on Barbie. In Sweatfest she made noticable mistakes and didn't seem very believable with her form. But in this one, they need to come out with a Kickbox Barbie doll because she looked like she was going to kill someone. She looked so into it and her form was great. You can really tell they all have worked hard to get their form and technique right.
My husband has only done one other workout with me and that is Cathe's KPC (and only did it once). He is in the Army so does PT, runs a lot, and is a Level III Combatives instructor. He isn't used to choreography and following a video so had a little trouble following along. (I told him if he would have previewed it with me instead of acting so tough he would have done better. Men just don't want to listen). Anyways, he loved the set and the workout as a whole. He even said he wants to do it again which almost made me pass out since he doesn't like doing videos. So that shows how good it is. His only beef is he said for people who aren't used to some of the moves (especially the Spiderwebs since they just jump right into them) there should be a separate chapter where they show how to do the spiderwebs and explain the different punches and kicks. He said once they learn it in the demo then it doesn't matter in the workout if they just jump right into because you already know how to do it. I have to say the spiderwebs got me all tangled up too so I need to practice those.
All in all, this is a great workout. We both are eager to try it again. There is no dread factor, it's fun, and it's tought. The more you put into it, the more you will get out of it. You can cheat in kickboxing and not feel anything but if you really pay attention to your form, listen to what Tracey and Josef say, and get "down and dirty" you will gave a great workout. I can't wait for all of you to get this, I am already wanting Strike Zone 2 and it hasn't even been started yet!!! I will be doing this again this week, I'd love to everyday but I know that would't be good. Great job Tracey, cast and crew. Stellar!
