my DVD solution

I had what I thought was a defective Cathe DVD because it always froze at the same spot-I figured it had to be the DVD, right? No. I took it into Best Buy and played it on one of their players and it played fine. So I returned my DVD player (I had the Performance Service Plan) and got another. The DVD and all new DVDs have played just fine. I would strongly recommend testing the DVD on a store machine even if it's not working on your 3 different players at home. I'd also recommend having a warranty or service plan that you can simply return your player and get another one. I've actually done this 3 times now for various problems and they always just give me a new one no questions asked. I'm really glad I paid for the warranty. I think the DVD players are very touchy machines.

You know, sometimes I wonder if the touchiness of the DVD players has anything to do with the fact that we are usually moving around pretty vigorously while watching the DVDs and not watching quietly. Maybe the bouncing around throws the laser off-track, so to speak, you know, kind of how CD players used to before they came out with the "shock control" or whatever it's called, so you could use the CD player in your car stereo without having to hear the CD skip everytime you hit a pothole.

Not accusing everyone of being elephants in their living rooms, but just a thought...;)
