My DH the Total Dodo Bird

This is SO funny!!

On the rare occasions that I send my DH to the store he is so afraid of getting the wrong thing that he calls me from the store to double check with me.

If, for some reason, he can't reach me then he gets one of each item!

Poor guy! I think I scared him once when he got the wrong thing!!

Same here, Christine. My absent-minded professor dodo bird does that too. As I always tell him, he's lucky he's so cute.

omg yes and yes! I think it must be something attached to the Y chromosome, making men physically unable to recognize the things they are searching for when they are looking right at it. Also to remember bits of information, especially if the brain is engaged in something else at the time the information is entered, like walking, driving, or chewing gum. Multitasking is not possible where there is a y chromosome involved. LOL

The problem I have is when it's "selective DoDo Bird-ism"! They can seem to be absent minded when it concerns someone else, but always remember when it's important to them! It's sort of like being a "little bit pregnant." You are or your NOT!!! Same thing, you're absent minded or you're NOT!

Given the "work at home" situation he has, he should have gotten the oatmeal, no question.

PS - By the way, I love the new pic of you! Did Mr.DoDo Bird take it? If so, at least he takes really good pictures!

Just Do It! :)

Just as a follow-up, after being publicly humiliated on this forum, when I came home from work yesterday there were 2 containers of Quaker Old-Fashioned oatmeal sitting on top of my laptop where I could see them as soon as I walked in. But he's resigned to never hearing the end of this. }(

LOL Nancy that is so funny. I just broke out laughing when I read this.

I'm not living with a dodo but some may consider me one. }(

i guess he wants to make sure you don't run out to send him to the store anytime soon LOL

tsk tsk all this male bashing.

I shave just about every day, and when I open my last razor I write "razors" on my grocery list. When one goes shopping, one brings a list. If it's on the list, it gets bought.

My wife and daughter have their "monthly visits" almost like clockwork and you think that we could be prepared for it instead of a panic trip to the store because OMG it came on time.

Oh well had to throw my $ .02 in.

Dave

Dave, your two cents is well taken. I didn't really mean to bash all males here, just the TDB (Total Dodo Bird) ones. Certainly there are female TDBs as well. :+

Dave, that is funny and true! The monthly time is usually the same--stock up! LOL. I am a total list-maker as well. But it seems that as soon as I get home from grocery shopping I'm starting a new list right away!

The forgetfulness happens on both sides of the sexes!

My BF does all the cooking and the shopping AND he decides what we're having for dinner--yet he constantly forgets to buy the chicken when, say, he is making chicken soup that night. Or he goes to the store to pick up things to make meatloaf and forgets to buy the meat. This has happened so many times now that "Did you forget the chicken?" has become our personal code phrase for "did you forget to do/buy/get the main thing that you set out to do/buy/get?" I don't know what it is--he even forgets to buy the chicken when he writes out a list of what he needs to buy!
