My Dedication of Days for 60 miles

Cathlete
I've got some last-minute errands to run, so I wanted to post before I head out. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR KIND WISHES!!

You have no idea how much it means to me from this community. You all are the BEST. Some of you have seen this already via e-mail, but I wanted it on the boards as well. Even though my plan is not to wear my shirt until Sunday, I will still carry it in my camel-backpack.

My daily dedication for 60 miles.

DAY ONE , August 17th - The first 20 miles are dedicated to those of you who are facing, have faced, and/or are supporting someone facing breast cancers issues. Your strength and courage is what motivates me to take each step along this route. I will walk for you and in support of you, saying a silent prayer with each stride that together we can AND WILL overcome this disease. My web page has a picture of my husband’s recently deceased grandmother who was a breast cancer survivor. And while we may not be able to prevent the onset of this cancer, like Grandma Thorne, everyone stricken should be able to call themselves a survivor!

DAY TWO, August 18th - The second 20 miles are dedicated to those of you - my friends, family, colleagues, and even complete strangers, who have so generously made donations to this cause! THANK YOU. Truly, without you, I would not be able to walk for them! You have made my commitment to this walk possible, through your monetary donations, and your time donations - as you have assumed responsibilities that allowed me the time to train. With each step on day two, I will endeavor to make your contribution more meaningful than you could ever imagine.

DAY THREE, August 19th - The last 20 - the hardest part - are dedicated to you my fellow Catheites! Because I know that just when I will need it the most, your energy, your strength, your stamina, your commitment, your love, and your support will be with me EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. I will be wearing it on my back and drawing from each and every one of you. For those RTers and Cathe.com friends whose names appear on the shirt I will wear this day - your hands touched that shirt as you signed and will now help me reach into the deepest part of my soul and achieve the highest quest that I will be aiming for on day 3. We walk this day as a team, because I AM 105 fit-women strong! (Actually - even MORE than 105, as I carry ALL of your heartfelt wishes with me.) I could not have begun training for this event without the fitness that comes from Cathe.

It is my sincere hope that the Catheites’ strength, stamina, and commitment, together with the generosity of spirit and funds from donors, can culminate in the courage that is needed for all patients, survivors, and families to stay strong, as together we seek and obtain a cure.

The 3-day: 3 days, 60 miles, 1 cure.

I’ll see you on the flip side!

Great. Now I'm crying! Lorrie, that was beautiful and you can bet we'll be with you every single step of those 60 miles and especially during that home stretch. I didn't sign your shirt, but you can add me to the 105.

My sister is a survivor and it's because of the efforts of people like you that she can say that she HAD breast cancer. Thank you:)

Lorrie, you're the best! You've really taken this to heart, haven't you. There's something very spiritual and personal about what you're doing. thanks for taking us with you on your walk.

Lorrie, I know I've already said it, but God Bless your heart for doing this! I am one huge goosebump right now after reading this and my eyes welled up. We know you have made a BIG difference in the world for doing this walk. I will be thinking of you every day! Thanks for your deep commitment to such a great cause! BIG HUGS!!!!

Lorrie, it is so great what you are doing! I must be hiding under a rock because I didn't see any previous posts about it. My friend did this same 3 day walk 3 years ago and she said it was such an amazing experience. I can't wait to hear your story afterwards.

Oh wow!! I got the chills...thank you for doing this for all of those who have been through it. I do not know you, personally, but you are in my heart.

Good luck Lorrie. You will do fabulously, I am sure.

I just looked at the picture of you and your kids and I love it. It looks so natural and they seem like really good, healthy, natural kids. Lucky you for having such a great family! Well done in raising them,

Clare

Lorrie,

I don't know why I'm so emotional, Allison must be rubbing off on me! I will be thinking about you from here on out. I will be with you in thought and in spirit. We all will. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this with you. Go get em! :*

That was so well written Lorrie. Truly beautiful. We will all be with you in spirit while you do this amazing walk.

Best wishes to you!

Lorrie!

I am thinking of you during your 60 mile journey for breast cancer. What a wonderful thing you are doing! I am so glad that I had the pleasure of meeting you on the Road Trip and to sign your shirt so that I could be with you (as well as all of the RTers!) in spirit on Sunday.
We expect a full report when you return!:)

Lorrie!!! That's a beautiful post!

I have been thinking about you and your walking buddies and just wanted to let you know that I am violating my work's uniform policy just for you this weekend! We are not allowed to wear anything but white tops, but I'm wearing pink tops/socks/shoes for you all weekend!!!;-)

Lorie, by the time I posted this, your walk is nearly over. I admire your dedication and caring. Breast cancer has affected us all somehow, at some point in our lives. And now you, too, have touched us all. For the better. Thank you.
