I don't know if I posted about it a while back but my dad had some vein surgery done, ablation of his varicose veins. All went well with the procedure but right after he started having some really marked fatigue in his legs. We all kinda blew him off, thinking that he was being a big baby (as he tends to be sometimes ). Anyway, I couldn't figure out why he KEPT complaining that the fatigue was getting worse.....spreading to his arms....his stomach hurt......he says he hasn't had much of an appetite....now his back hurts. Anyway, eventually I figured out that such a simple vein procedure should not have the kind of side effects he was having so I pushed him to see a doc and find out whether his circulation was compromised or it was something else. We didn't know if the doc messed up or what. It all coincided with this leg surgery so it was easy to blow off. That was about a month and a half ago.
Fast forward to now and he is inpatient on the oncology floor. They are talking possible lymphoma, but are now suspecting worse. They found a mass on his left lower lung (long time smoker) and are doing a bronchoscopy today to investigate. He has had CT's of basically every organ and now today is getting a PET scan to see, I guess, if they can pinpoint the start of cancer. I don't know if the doc's know that it IS IN FACT cancer, they just gotta figure out where, or if they don't really know. Anyway, that is what they are saying. I am spending the day at the hospital with my dad today so I can sort it all out.
This has been very whirlwind. I think they are saying it is not good because of how fast he seems to have gone downhill. He has no other symptoms, which is weird I think. They mentioned something about the tumor pressing in on his aortic artery? which would account for the marked fatigue in the legs. To add insult to injury, they just found a spot on my mom's lung X-ray (long time smoker) and she had to go in the other day for a CT scan as well.
Please say a little prayer for BOTH my parents if you can/will. It would mean a lot to me. Thanks for letting me vent to you all. I hope to get some more info today. I will update. ;-)
