Motivation needed!

Hi Everyone!

This is my first post in over 6 years! Yikes!!! I've been reading for the past 2-1/2 years though, and found support and guidance in your posts.

I'm a 28 year old work-at-home mother of 2. For the past year, I've had a lot of stress (job-related, not family related). Anyway, I haven't worked out for about 9 months. I've put on about 7 lbs. I just weighed myself for the first time in 8 months. Talk about DENIAL! None of my clothes are fitting me, and I'm very out of control. I'm very unhappy with myself.

I keep eating everything in sight. I used to be able to just eat healthy and small portions. But lately all I want to eat is junk food, and I tend to binge a lot. I am pretty much in the closet about my eating. I'm hoping that by coming clean with you, it'll help me get back on track.

I also want to start working out. I did the full timesaver 3 weeks ago and loved it, but I'm not sure it's enough to get me losing weight. I think maybe CTX is more intense, and might work out better. This is where you come in...

Please give me any suggestions, motivation, anything. I want to feel sexy again. I hate not wanting to flaunt my body for my husband! :)

Here's where I am:
Weight: 123Lbs
Height: 5'2"
Size: 6

DVDS:
CTX
Body Blast
Pure Strength
Slow & Heavy
Rhythmic Step (I-Max, Rhythmic Step & Max. Intens. Cardio)
Power Hour (Power Hour, Max. Intens. Strength, ???)

I really appreciate your feedback!

Cindy W.

Hi Cindy and glad you decided to come here:). You will get so much support here. Have you thought about joining maybe Weight Watcher or some other type of program that would work for you because I know that has help me in the past. Here they have a lot of check in in the open forum that you might want to join to keep you motivated. I would just continue to excerise but try to change your eating habits. If you feel that the Timesavor isn't enough then try the CTX series. I have heard alot of people losing weight from this but of course with clean eating:) Maybe you can even mix it up like doing The Timesavor one week and follow by doing the CTX the following week or just try the CTX for a few weeks to see how you do. Well good luck and keep coming back;-)

Hi Cindy,

Welcome back to the forum. I just wanted to say that getting back into a good exercise routine would be a great start. I think the Timesavers were a great way to start since you have been off for 9 months. Once this does not feel like enough, add other workouts in.

Stress has also been known to put weight on. Have you been doing anything to help the stress? Exercise will help, but also shoulder shrugs and deep breaths during the day at work can help you relax when things are getting stressful.

Have a great day!

Beverly

Hi Cindy, I just started exercising consistantly last March when I found out I weighed 138 lbs, that was an ouch for me, I never weighted that much pregnant.
I am also 5' 2", I had gotten to 109 and over the holidays got to 117, and now at 114, seems like its harder to take it off the second time around, or just maybe seems that way.
I drink lots of water take you body weight and multiply it x .55, that is how much water you should be drinking, and I would do alot of walking, and 3 weight workouts a week, and the cleanest eating you can do with a hubby and 2 kids :7 .
I did a little more than this the first time, but with 2 kids try to do the best ya can :7 ... you said you want to lose 7 lbs, so that shouldn't take too long. Hope this helps and I wish you the best, God bless ya ... Rhonda :7

p.s. as far as the cardio (walking) even though I am not a stepper, you seem to have some of those, I know that can be used for cardios.

Thank you all for your suggestions! I already have some idea of what to do. I like the suggestion of doing Timesaver one week and CTX the next. CTX is so intense (at least for me), this way I'll have that really fun factor to look forward to the week of Timesaver.

Rhonda, this is also my 2nd time around. After I had my 8 year old, I lost 60 lbs. I kept it off until two years ago. I was a size 2 for about 4 years, 2 years ago, I went up from 106lbs to 112lbs and up to a size 4. I thought "no problem" size 4 is fine, more curves ;-). Then last year I went up to 115lbs. Now, you know the rest.

It's very hard to motivate myself again! I will post again next week with good news...I hope! :)

Um, you think you are not sexy being 123 pounds and a size 6? When I was 135 and a size 6 people thought I was sexy, and this was only 2 years ago when I was 21! Now, I am over 200 lbs and I would KILL to be a size 6, especially since the average woman is a size 12-14. I'm so depressed beause I have a ton of Cathe workouts but I am not in shape enough for any of them, and that's including Timesaver. I wasted all of my money on these dvds, thinking I would be able to do them but every time Cathe does hi/lo, I feel like dying after just 30 seconds. And since hi/lo is not that easy to modify while also getting a good cardio workout, I don't do any of the dvds that have them (CTX and Body Blast series). I don't foresee myself getting into good shape any time soon. :(

Sherry!!

Sherry don't beat yourself up. It takes time to work the hi/lo which I still can't manage to do. I have to take a quick break. Somedays I can do it and some days it feels so tough}(. I think the hi/lo is the hardest for me. I don't think you waist your money because I know that one day you will do it. It might not be now or tomorrow but you will. I have been working out with Cathe this past year and look at me I still can't get through it but I feel good afterwards:). It takes time to really work your endurance. And I do see yourself getting in shape. You just have to want it. Well I wish you success:)

RE: Sherry!!

Thanks so much Barbara for your kind words. Sorry if I sounded whiney, but being as heavy as I am now (gained 45 lbs during the holiday season) I don't feel as good and my lower back is aching all of the time now. Plus, my feet get swollen by the end of the day. This is embarrasing, but I might have to revert back to my old Walk Away the Pounds videos until I lose at least 20 lbs or so. I just hope that doing a lower intensity workout for awhile won't prevent me from losing weight, and by also following the Weight Watchers plan...

Sherry

Sherry, don't be so down, you start where you can and go from there. Its gonna take time to lose all that you have gained, but I think you can do it, just don't be so unhappy, please........... Rhonda :7

RE: Sherry!!

Sherry,

I know what it's like to fel overwhelmed. One trick is to try to remove yourself an arm's length from the problem, and approach it like a task. Divide the task into parts and subparts.

You probably know all this already, but sometimes just reading it can help fire you up.

Not only will a lower intensity workout cause weight loss (much more than doing nothing!) but also it helps you establish the good habit of working out every day. Include in your goal not only weight loss, but also lifelong exercising as a habit. This will make it easier in the future not to get out of control again.

So much of fitness is mental. Keep your Cathe treasures and after an initial period of Sansone's videos, insert a few of them with extreme modifications. Watch and enjoy while marching in place, and do certain moves when you can.

Record your progress in a log (like, the date, the workout name, and how much modifying you did) and you will become much more impressed with yourself when reality plays out! You can do it!

Cheering you, Connie

RE: Sherry!!

Sherry, Connies advice is so sound. Please follow it! You can do this, and don't worry about the waste of money. You can do all of those strength workouts. Skip the hi-lo. I hate Cathe's hi-lo--way too high impact and not exactly fun choreography. Phoooey! I think the marching in place while watching is a great idea, because it will be motivating, and will help you with the choreography when you start to add it in. Also, you can do the step workouts on the floor--I always do this because of knee pain-- and that will make the transition even easier. MODIFY MODIFY MODIFY, but do start out with the WAP tapes you have. Don't let that emabarrass you--you're going to be amazed at how effective they are. A lot more effective than standing still looking at the tv screen in frustration trying to keep up with workouts you can't do because they are too advanced for you! And you will be able to ease into those Cathe's before you know it!

Good luck :)
Wendy

Hi Sherry,
I have to chime in because I am in a very similar place as you are now.
I weigh over 200lb and need something more managable to start losing some of this weight before I can even look at a Cathe DVD.
But I regard my DVD's as gems and am going to work like a devil to be up to par with the rest of the lovely ladies here in this forum.
Everyone is so inspiring and educated, I come here every day.
I too have brought out my Walk Aerobics tapes and my brand new WATP DVD (bought at the same time as my Cathes) because they are workouts that I know will get me moving and I trust them.
But first we have to trust ourselves and be confident that what ever we do is the best we can.
I wish you the very best Sherry.
Thanks everyone.
