Motion sickness anyone?

OT Iknow, but over the years, when I'm not the driver in the car, I get carsick - not to the point of throwing up, but dizzy, nauseous etc, and it can last then for a couple days! I also notice it when doing p90x plus, those dervish moves with the side to side motion.

Other than dramamine (and a trip to the ent which I plan) - anyone else deal with this?

I'm right there with ya. Yes, I've experienced it all my life. I find that just keeping my eyes closed is the best way of dealing with it. Everyone who knows me is used to having conversations in the car with me while my eyes are closed. It works very well!

I deal with it all the time, too. Very much NOT fun! I just got back from the Dominican Republic. Dramamine helps (bus and plane rides), but then I have the after effects for days, even with the less drowsy versions. I sometimes experience the same thing with working out, just like you.

What will a visit to an ENT do for you? Just curious...

Yes, I can relate. I was a figure skater when I was younger and spins never bothered me. Now I can't even swing on a swingset without getting nauseousx(

I've been in TaeKwonDo for 5 years and have to do multiple spinning kicks which make me very dizzy. I spoke to an "older" female instructor and she recommended trying Meclizine. I googled it and found it is supposed to help with dizzyness & nausea. I never tried it so I can't vouch for its effectiveness.

I have heard there are accupressure points in the wrist that can help as well as ingesting some forms of ginger.

Hi all,

I have been added a tsp of ginger to my am breakfast - fruit or oatmeal...done the wrist exercises, but that's not practical when working out....nothing like the dramamine or meclizine...I'll see if hte ENT finds any ear wax or disturbance that is upsetting the vestibular nerve....I'm going to try de waxing drops tonight and see if this annoyance abaits a little....

I find that Sea Bands have helped me with basic things like riding in a car.
For something more severe (amusment park rides, morning sickness, etc...) Relief Bands are the hands down winner. You can find them (and reivews) on Drugstore.com. They are pricey, but worth every penny!

Dramamine has never worked for me, so I had to find a non-drug route a few years ago.

The Sea Bands look a little funny when you're wearing them, but hey, to avoid being dizzy and nauseaous...whatever!

I also get motion sick very easily and it will last a couple of days too.
Ginger capsules made by Nature's Way work wonders. I have never had a problem since taking them.

Hope this helps.

DITTO on those Relief Bands!! I had to use one when I rode the bus into work. It would sway back and forth, back and forth..... bleccch!;(

I can't remember the name of them but the wrist bands that you buy at the drugstore that apply pressure on a certain pressure point on the inside of your wrist really work. Can be a bit uncomfortable at first but still better than the alternative.

Another vote here for the Relief Band. This product REALLY WORKS. I tend to get queasy on bumpy flights - especially during final descent and landing. I just turn on my Relief Band and the queasiness goes away just like that. It's truly amazing. The electric zapping feeling is only mildly annoying - it doesn't hurt at all, and it sure beats feeling nauseated. The Relief Band is also FDA approved to treat morning sickness in pregnant women.

Here it is on drugstore.com - holy COW, the price has really gone up on these things. I only paid $80 or $90 for mine

Do the relief bands work with dizziness or just nausea? I have struggled with motion sickness and vertigo for my entire life. I get motion sick sitting at the computer (depending on what is on the screen)! Video games bother me, a sudden movement in a chair, etc. I had a really bad bout with vertigo about a month or so ago and I had to miss work because I literally couldn't sit up!

DH and I are going to Europe in a couple of weeks and will be doing a lot of driving, so if this will work for dizziness as well as nausea, I'm in!

Oh my gosh! I have a terrible time with motion sickness. I don't like flying very much as I get motion sick during the final descent. I need to be the driver in a car most of the time. I have had difficulty with movies some times where the camera work is especially jittery. Ugh.... It sounds like I totally need to try Relief Bands!!

Wow. I think I'm going to have to get the Relief Band. Anyone have success with them on roller coasters?
