~**~Monday Melters~**~

Morning, Melters -

Well, it looks like I'm the first one to officially check in this morning, even though Shelley managed to zip in and get things started.

Yesterday I did PUB - up and the floor work from PLB, along with B&G abs. It was an okay workout. But dang do I want a good lower body workout! Eating was pretty good yesterday, though in mid-afternoon I was starving and had a PB attack. Boy did it taste good. I made up for it at dinner, which was a very tasty lentil soup.

Tneah - I saw your post yesterday about all of us injured women. I was thinking the same thing this weekend. LOL. One of these days we'll be over all these crazy injuries and will be fit beyond our wildest dreams.

I'll be back once everyone else checks in. See ya!

Morming fellow melters. Boy, I ate like crap over the weekend. I'm glad Monday is here and I can get back on track. I'm going to try 4DS LIS on the floor this afternoon. My knee feels great. DD and I are doing the grocery shopping this morning and I'll be driving for the first time since the surgery. Yay for Low Impact Driving! See you all later.

Good Morning Melters!:7

This is too funny, so my computer allows me to log onto to Cathe's website right? When I try to do anything else? Not happening, nothing loads at all!x( We finally chose this slip (the place our boat stays here in San Diego) as our permanent one, so I am calling in the internet cable people today to set up the high speed connection deal.It makes work really hard when I try to send articles and emails to the company in Salt Lake City!

The "boys" are coming down today, yes, this is not like a vacation, we have never taken a honeymoon let alone a vacation--on of the "perks" of owning your own business I suppose. So this week will be busy. The boat is in a marina that includes a hotel, so we put the guys up there and then they come onboard and work with DH and myself--we turned the upstairs into a nice little office space.

Today starts a new week of weight work, something I always dread in a new setting, but the gym here has everything I need, so no excuses for me...its legs today. I think I might take the cardio outside since its in the 70's, walking does not get my heartrate up as high as I need it to be, but hey, whatta gonnna do? Do your best and forget the rest right?

My eating has been on track, eating this way just takes so much preparation and you have to do it every 2 1/2 to 3 hours! It gets kinda complicated, so I carry around a ground turkey breast patty when I am out and about--goofy isn't it?

Robin, are you sure you are ready for step? Got the ok from your doctor? If so, enjoy, but proceed with caution!

Shelley, hey Miss Speedy Pants...thought about you yesterday when i did a Grace workout, she was giving the speeds for runners, joggers and walkers (that would be me) and knew you were one of the runners and marveled at how fast you really are! So fit, its incredible.

Shannon, yum. I miss my peanut butter, feel free to talk about it as much as you like, I can fantasize about it!}( Mr. Trainer allows PB, but only 1/2 teaspoon! WTH???I told him that isn't even worth it, and I wouldn't insult peanut butter that way, one must enjoy the creamy goodness with a jar of it and a tablespoon. Oh, and don't worry, I kept my lower body firm by doing "easy" floorwork type things, just know it will not be forever and soon you will have your answers regarding your calf.

Okay, off to walk George this AM. We have issues with one of our bathroom toilets among other problems on the boat, so along with our SLC boys, we have our captain (he drinks vodka all day long, seriously, I think we need a new one, nothing gets fixed, he is nice but he smells) and repairmen!:7

Hello to all you lovelies I missed, BBL..

Morning again!

Well, back to work and my co-worker still isn't speaking to me. It makes for a lovely office atmosphere.

Robin - I can't believe you're driving already, and yes, PLEASE be careful doing step.

Shannon - you'll be doing GS Legs before you know it!

Tneah - your captain drinks all day? Oh, how worrisome! I'd get a new one too! And no, I'm not a runner, according to Grace. I'm somewhere in between jogger and runner, leaning more towards jogger.

Slept on the couch for the past two nights because of horrible congestion that made it impossible to lie down and breathe at the same time:p Consequently, I'm super-tired and will be taking a rest day today. I've worked out the last 8 days straight, so I think I deserve one. Unfortunately, PMS has arrived, and it brought The Hunger with it.

Robin - yay for driving! Be careful with that step without the step, though. I think your choice is a good one - LIS is very low impact, even with the step.

Tneah - you need a vacation!!! Everybody does. After this mess is over, push that boat out to sea and get away from it all. :7 But leave the drunken captain on shore. Good grief, that's terrible. WTH is right about a teensy 1/2 tsp of PB!!! That's just nuts. Maybe you could save up several half teaspoons during the week and then eat them all at once. }(

Shelley - GS Legs sounds wonderful... aaahh, what a pleasant dream. I'm glad you're taking a rest day - 8 days of workouts like the ones you've been doing definitely call for some time off! A little hint: don't worry about calories during The Hunger. They don't make a bit of difference. Trust me. Eat, eat, eat.

I was up in the middle of the night coughing again, but only twice and up no longer than 15 minutes at a time, so it could be worse. I'm o.k. today, coughing a little here and there. Today is an upper body workout (Amy's Slo-Mo back & shoulders) so I should be able to handle that. I went to physical therapy earlier, so I got some lower body work there. Ewan's speech therapist has already come and gone so I have plenty of time to work out while he naps (in a few minutes)

BBL for personals but have to get him down for that nap and do my exercise soon!

Hey! I'm on again--wow....

Ok, its weird, our captain drinks vodka and orange juice out of a Minute Maid juice container....he stays in that "comfortably numb" state,he never gets "drunk" but, still. His firstmate guy is cool though, straight as an arrow, so when we take the boat out its him that usually does the majority of the work, but my DH has about had it with him, and yes, we are looking for a new captain!:)

Shannon, I wish I could "save" up and eat my precious PB all at once!:( Cannot, so I choose to forgo until the 12 weeks is up.;(

Shelley, even the joggers go faster than the wind on those workouts for Pete's sake! Your still Miss Speedy Pants in my book.;) Oh and did someone "pee in her Wheaties?" Referring to your co-worker of course. I borrowed that saying from someone in the OD!:7 I hate tension between people its so uncomfortable.I would go up and ask whats up her rear end!

Robin, you are recovering so fast-yeah!:D

I walked outside this AM for 45 minutes. It was pretty, but its hard to enjoy the outdoors when you are concentrating on your heartrate, so think I will stroll on my own leisure time, and take it to the gym with Grace for the hardcore stuff.;)

Off to the health food store, need to pick up some vitamins and stuff.

Back again!

Shannon - I'm eating, eating! Trust me on that one:p

Lainie - oh dear, that darn cold of yours. I'm sorry you feel lousy again. How was your workout?

Tneah - your captain sounds like quite the character! If the silent treatment lasts much longer, I will definitely ask her why she isn't speaking to me.

Well, we're expecting more snow tomorrow. Along with this bitter cold. I've had about enough of winter now.

Shelley, I'm sorry to hear you are still congested. I had the bed to myself most of the weekend. DH moved to the couch with his coughing. He slept there for two nights last week, before realizing Tristan's bed is available. DUH! He crawled back into bed last night and I only heard him cough once. Driving wasn't bad. I only drove into town. My knee was a little achey after groceries, so I had DD drive home.

tneah, I would never survive on that smidgen of PB! I have to be careful when I make myself a PB&J. That knife just keeps dipping into the PB jar...LOL about carrying around a ground turkey patty. Do strange dogs follow you?

Lainie, I'm sorry you are still getting up with your cough, but glad it wasn't all night. We had a visit from the therapist today too. Greyor gets PT and OT a couple times a week. The therapist brought a wedge thing today. Greyor seemed to enjoy being rolled up and down it.

Shannon, when is your MRI? Is your calf still swollen? Oh, that reminds me. I better go get the ice packs.

I just finished 4DS LIS without the step. Don't worry, I didn't jump and I modified a lot. I'm not sure I even broke a sweat, but it feels good to be going through the motions. I'm going to go ice the knee now. I'll try to get back later to see who else checks in today.

Isaac and Ewan have been playing with a big cardboard box for several days. Yesterday Isaac cut a door into the side of it. So he sets the open part on the ground and goes in a door on the side and calls it his house. Kids. :)

I enjoyed Amy's Slo-Mo split for back and shoulders. I also did the abs from her All Pump workout. I expect some good DOMS.

Anyway, back for personals.

Shannon, I wish could do some lower body work, too, though I guess what I really want to do is some fun cardio without modifying. :(

Robin, I worry about disturbing DH's sleep with the cough, which is part of why I get up and leave the room when I'm coughing. I don't worry enough to sleep in another room, though (too selfish for that ;)) so your DH is nicer than I am. :p

Tneah, good luck with Captain Vodka (too bad it's not rum or you could call him Captain Morgan).

Shelley, sorry you are feeling crappy. I hate the way it's so hard to sleep with congestion. Plus if I take meds that work, they end up wiping me out the next day as well. I don't have that kind of issue now--just that when I lie down it sets me off coughing, which is pretty annoying as well. Hope you get better soon.

Hey everyone,

Glad that you all had a nice weekend! We got back from Las Vegas a few hours ago, and I've got laundry going and some *healthy* food in my belly again. We had a great time, and seeing the Monty Python Spam-A-Lot show was so much fun! Of course, I feel like I'm fighting off a bug, so I didn't do my workout today like I was going to. I may try to do it tomorrow after work . . . but I'm always SO tried when I get home. I always end up falling off the Healthy Wagon when I go on vacation. Now I'm beating myself up for it! Ug!

Robin -- How great that you drove to grocery shop and that you did LIS today! Pretty soon, you'll have that real step under your feet again! How is the knee feeling now?

Tneah -- How great that you're back in San Diego, although the situation with Cpt. Vodka (as Lainie nicknamed him) sounds difficult! Where exactly is your boat docked? Which gym will you be going to? There's a really nice 24 Hour Fitness in Point Loma that used to have great group exercise classes! (Of course, I'm not sure if they'd work with your program.)

Shannon -- Remember that PB can be our friend!;-) Of course, isn't it hard not to become TOO friendly??!}(

Lainie -- I still owe you an email! I'll get to it soon! How cute Ewan and Isaac are with their "house"! You poor sickie!!

Shelley -- Are you feeling any better?? And what is up with that co-worker?? Is she generally a bit of a grouch (to put it nicely)??

Hi Leanne, don't worry about answering the email too fast. I currently owe at least 6 people nice well-thought out personal emails, so I'm a bit behind already. But I look forward to hearing from you even if it takes me a while to get back, too. I would love to see Monty Python Spam-a-lot. Of course, we could see it on Broadway if I could drag DH to it. He's not much of a theater guy. :( That might be the one show he'd go to, since he likes Monty Python, though.

Hi melters. I'm finally back. DH and I took a trip to the Jersey Shore to meet some friends and go to the Atlantic City Boat Show. No, we didn't buy another boat LOL but it's fun to kick a few tires and run into other 'boaty' friends. To get to the shore, we have to drive by 'Catheland' so I waved as we drove past the exit for Glassboro.

While I was gone I ran for exercise. It was kind of fun running up and down the boardwalk taking in the sights. It certainly took my mind off of the task at hand! Despite the cold weather, there were quite a few other people on the boards biking, walking, or running. Believe it or not, there were also people out surfing too.

Tneah: You gotta get rid of that captain. It's dangerous keeping him on in that position if he's an alcoholic. Does the mate have his papers or close to it? Also, if I were in your shoes I'd be concerned that if anything happened (god forbid) it could open you and DH to liability if your insurance company or anyone found out you knew he was drinking. Sorry to be on the soapbox about this but I'm worried for you!

Robin: Wow, you are coming along with your recovery so fast! You'll be back using a 'normal' step in no time. I know you really enjoy step, but don't try to push it too hard or too fast.

Lainie: It's so funny about your son's cardboard 'house'. It must make you wonder why you need to spend $$ on toys when a box will keep him occupied for days!

Leanne: Ooh I hear ya about the 'healthy' food. I think I was 'augmenting' instead of melting this week. I guess you and I have to get back on the 'melting' wagon now!

Shelley: With your speed I can't believe you are not considered a runner. Also, I guess I'd better go back and read the last few days threads to see what's up with your co-worker.

Hello to everyone else! Hopefully I'll be more consistent with posting over this next week. Now I'm off to catch up with all the goings on around here since I've been gone...

Captain Vodka!:7 Funny! So true,I like "Captain Morgan" better.;)

Leanne, just wanted to welcome you back from Sin City.}( I know, that place can take it out of ya! Oh, and we are on Shelter Island at the Island Palms marina. I go to a little gym run by the Kona Kai hotel up the way, its pretty decent, new equipment and stuff. The weather has been incredible. Glad to "see" you again. Don't worry, you will be back on track tomorrow.

TK, point taken! You are right on about the captain, we are working on finding another one now, hard to come by actually, and we are "newbies" in the boating community so its harder. But thank you for the input. Its good you are back, we missed you.

Goodnight to everyone.:)
