Got my names mixed up - the subject should actually read "Modify IntervalMax?" I am totally new to Cathe videos, but have been reading rave reviews. I have been using The Firm, like them just fine, but am on a fitness plateau. I need to lose more fat, and I probably need more cardio. I am 40 and have to be careful with my knees, and I understand IntervalMax is high impact. I need an intense cardio video that can be modified to low impact while maintaining the high cardio. Would IntervalMax fit the bill? What do you suggest?

Hi there! You will love Cathe's videos. They are very intense and can be used at a very high impact level, but they are also easy to modify. She is so thourough, an extraordinary teacher. I don't belive Intense Moves is Cathe's video. (Is it Gin Miller's?) Hers is called Maximum Intensity Cardio (which has really high impact hi/lo, followed by step). There's another called Interval Max which is fantastic. Another favorite of mine is called Power Max. You can check out clips on this website. Enjoy!

Gin Miller does Itense Moves,

I have that video and yes, it can be modified. She shows 3 different variations to each interval, so you chose the level that's right for you. I love Intense Moves, but I have to admit that ever since I've gotten Cathe's videos it's been put on the back burner. If you want a Cathe video that's easy to modify, try The Wedding Video. You'll still get great cardio and strength training. Another one I find easy to modify is BodyMax,for example when she does power horses, just do regular horse shoes. Again there's weights with this one too.{Can you tell I like weights

?} All 3 are great videos! Let us know what you chose!!

About your question?

I'm not sure if I understand your question, but are you asking if Interval Max can be modified?
I noticed you called it Intense Moves but at the same time you mention that you're interested in buying a Cathe tape. So, I believe that you meant to say "Interval Max". If I'm wrong, please accept my apology for changing your question. Anyway, I haven't actually got Interval Max but I pay close attention anytime a question is asked about it because I've been thinking about buying it also. (In fact, I kinda asked the same question before.) Someone that goes by the name "Honeybunch" responded to my question and said that it is fairly easy to modify Interval Max. However, my understanding is that this workout is a "killer" and some say that is putting it mildly. Anyway, I still haven't ordered it but probably will soon. My understanding is that it has the best music of any Cathe video. Anyway, good luck to both of us when we attempt IM.

IntervalMax, not Intense Moves!

lwseymour:

Oh my, I'm short circuiting today. Yes, I actually meant to ask about InvervalMax, not IntenseMoves. I read about them both at another website and got the names mixed up. The one I'm interested in is Interval Max. Thanks for setting me straight.

Interval Max

This video is a killer, but it is so worth it and it should not be feared at all. Your cardiovascular system will never be the same - and I mean that in a good way! kmtbe, I also have "sensitive" knees and this video does not bother them. Cathe also shows modifications for each interval. I just can't say enough good things about this video.

Good luck

Interval Max

Hi KMTBE! Nice to meet to you.

HMMMMM! I'm not so sure that Interval Max is the video I would want you to start with. A few reasons: 1) This one will not break down the moves very much and therefore, could have you a bit frustrated as a new comer 2) Its an ultra intense interval workout designed to be used only once a week. 3) The whole tape is so hi impact oriented that you would most likely have to modify the fun factor right out of the workout.

I think that you would do better with one of my older videos since I repeat the moves a little bit longer which will give you a chance to get familiar wih my style and terminology. I would say that if you are a new comer to my videos yet like a little more intricate choreography, then you might want to start with Step Heat. But if you are a new comer and would like the moves to be a little more basic then I would say to start with "How To Get In Shape For Your Wedding"(just ignore the lingo directed at the bride-to-be). Both videos have areas of hi impact that can pretty easily be modified to low impact by simply not doing the airborn movements. If you need help with any modifications, I'd be glad to help you too! Hope this helps!
