I just saw the headline on the internet - am I understanding this correctly? Miss Callifornia is now Miss USA?
I knew it would all work out for her! :D

I don't think you're understanding this correctly. She gets to keep her Miss California crown even though topless photos of her have emerged that she swore didn't exist. :confused:
 
I think she gets to keep her title as Miss California, which was in question because of some semi-nude photos (what else? :rolleyes: ).

I guess I certainly did misunderstand that one!! WOW!!! Not sure what to say to that one. If these girls have that in their past why do they try to hide them knowing what it means as far as the contest goes ? Sad.
 
No, the talk was about stripping her of her Miss California crown because of some pictures and because she got involved in other organisations whilst her contract with the Miss California/Miss USA pagent prohibited that.

She is the Miss USA runner up and keeps her Miss California title.

Yeah, I was wondering what was gonna happen with that if they stripped her of the title? Would she have to give her boobs back :eek::rolleyes:?
 
The whole flack on Miss California started at the Miss USA contest when she was asked about gay marriage. She stated that she believed that marriage should be between a man and a woman. That started this whole thing. Then pictures that were taken at a modeling photo shoot appeared, along with pictures that were photoshopped to show even more skin were posted this week.

People were calling for her crown because of the marriage remark. Trump said the pictures were on par with a modeling shoot and her answer to the question was her opinion, something she had a right to have, so did not strip her of her crown. And of course, she did not pose for the photoshopped pictures.
 
It amazes me that a remark that marraige should be between a man and a woman is controversial with all the media attention.
 
Actually I think it was started by Perez Hilton. I don't think her comment would've been terribly controversial if he hadn't grabbed that ball of silicone & run w/it. ;)
 
It amazes me that Obama has spoken those very same words and he has not received the backlash that this poor girl has received. I am glad she gets to keep her crown. Having your own opinion is something that we all should respect - wether you agree with it or not.

Yeah, it was Hilton's less than mature reaction that started all this.

While I don't agree with her personal opinion, I find the treatment of her by some in the media sad and pathetic. I'm glad she gets to remain Miss California.

That's pretty much how I feel. I mean seriously, does anyone even know who Miss USA is? Miss CA has stolen all her thunder........frankly, Mr. Hilton did this young lady a huge favor. No publicity is bad publicity.

And I won't even go into how I feel about beauty pageants in general. :mad:
 
I don't think it was only her remarks about gay marriage. I happen to disagree with her but also think that everyone is entitled to their opinion and it shouldn't effect anything else in their life but unfortunately that is not reality!

The Miss USA pageant has very clear rules about nude or seminude photos and the participation in other organisations while representing the Miss USA pageant (in her case as Miss California). Others have gotten into hot water before for not adhering to those (in my opinion - stupid) rules and some have gotten stripped of their crown.

Some want to make her a martyr or a symbol and say that she was solely targeted for being anti-gay marriage. That may have started the whole thing but the fact is, those photos were there and she didn't disclose it and she spoke out and traveled on behalf of a anti-gay marriage group which was against her contract.

I couldn't care less one way or another, I find this whole pageant thing pretty stupid and degrading for women.
 
While I agree w/you Carola--do you think those nude photos ever would've surfaced if the media hadn't gone nuts over this story? Which I'm 100% certain was b/c of Perez. I can't remember exactly what he called her the next morning, but I do know it includede the word b*tch, which was pretty much the match that lit the firestorm.
 
Oh, I don't think that Miss Cali will have any problems with her future, whether she is stripped of the crown or not. Nobody ever remembers who Miss USA or Miss America is unless there is some sort of controversy. Her response was a brilliant way for her to remain in the public eye and to be a sexy right-wing poster girl (a young Sarah Palin). This way, she will go on to host tons of right-wing events, probably get some sort of country music career, etc.

I don't feel very sorry for her. She totally played this and will come out a winner regardless.

I don't agree with her, but I also don't think that the question was appropriate for a stupid beauty contest.
