Mini Step or Stool

Hi - I am going to order Muscle Endurance, but I need to get a mini-step or stool (is it 14 inches). Where do you get them. I know SNM will have them in Sept., but I can't wait that long. Also do I really need a medicine ball for this workout or will a dumbell of weight plate suffice. Thanks

Do you already have a step? You could get some extra risers (about $24 a pair from fwonline.com) to make it go to 14 inches, and use it lengthwise. That's what I do most of the time. Then when the new ministep comes out, you only have to buy the topper.

Some people use a rubbermade kitchen step as a ministep. I'm not sure of the height on it.

As for the medicine ball, options are shown for using a dumbbell instead, so you don't really need it.

I also have purchased extra risers and use them with my long step. I really would like the mini step topper as it will be less cumbersome, but for now my regular step does the trick.

Is it that grey and black reeboc step? I use the original The Step bench with the square risers that stack. If so, then you can't use these type of risers with The Step bench. Perhaps if you go to a fitness store they might have used risers for that type of Reeboc step.

I highly recommend the Novel Notion box that I have been using, although if you wait until September, the mini step will probably cost less. The Novel Notion box goes to 4",6",8",10",12",14" and if you set it on a step riser, it goes to 16" too. Of course, the mini step, when it comes out, will do the same, and the rubber surface is preferable to the wood of the box. You can find the Novel Notion box on Cathe's Buying Guide on her home page.

I just use a regular dining room chair (17") and place the top riser of my step in front of it if I want to drop it down to 13". This works fine for me, so I doubt that I will invest in a mini step (need to use that cash for more Cathe videos!!!) ;-)

And no, yo do not need a medicine ball for these workouts. I use a dumbbell in place of the ball for every exercise Cathe does (except for between your knees for reverse crunches - sometimes I try it, but there's no way I could do it in this heat when I'm so sweaty and it would just slip right outta there onto my head!)
