I can't believe that this is the day. My baby, I have three boys, went to Kindergarten this morning.

I'm totally amazed that we made it this far.

Can anyone else remember a day like this?

Danna

No, but I can not imagine letting my daughter (13 months) go to kindergarten. I have just as much separation anxiety as she does! Jeanne

Hi Danna,

Well I will be able to relate as of Aug. 5th. That is when I will be sending my little boy. I have 2 boys and my oldest will go to 2nd grade.

Yes, where DO you live??? I live in Massachusetts and my little girl starts Kindergarten September 10th!! Yes, I know...it's gonna be a LONNNNGGG summer  Anyway, when that day does arrive, I am going to be a mush full of tears both happy & sad !

My daughter will be starting 8th grade in August, but I do remember her first day of Kindergarten - and it was all day Kindergarten! I think it took me two weeks before I stopped watching the clock every five minutes!! It's definitely an adjustment.

Oh Dana! I remember this day so well! My son, who is now 8 and will be going to 3rd grade in a month, is an only child who was born two months prematurely and nearly died from bacterial meningitis when he was three. Needless to say I'm quite the overprotective mom (but slowly reforming)!:)

I was so sad and scared for him on his first day of kindergarten, making my dh stay home from work on that day and everything (*rolling my eyes at myself as I speak*)! I was all teary-eyed as Chris got on the bus, but he turned to me and said, "Mom, you're embarrassing me! I can handle this, OK?" And off he went, the most uneventful first day of school for any kid in the history of kindergarten. He was always very independent, despite my efforts of keeping those apron strings tied tightly around his waist (*rolling eyes again*)!

The first day of school's always still a little sad for me--he's such a great buddy in the summertime. I get over it pretty quickly, though, as I rejoice in the peace & quiet that is my house!:)

My oldest started school last year, when I was also pregnant (talk about making myself an emotional mess). He got on the bus, I tried to be cool but by the time I turned around to go back into the house I lost it totally.... I felt like my heart was ripped out and drove over by a truck. I think I will have a hard time this year too, I like having my Keaton home, he is my little pizano as I call him ( Itallian for buddy). It stinks when they are in school, cuz its like your going all over again between the homework and dressing him in the "right" style and all that junk. its exhausting. But the must be educated, right. I think when my last finally goes to school, I will need to have a zoloft/prozac/paxil smoothie every morning cuz its gonna hurt..haha

Hi Lisa. California. We have year round school here. There is one track that will start in August.

I'm used to it. I like not having three months of bored kids. WE may get to change back to traditional schedule. They are building a third elementary school in our area. I'mm hoping they do. I like the cohesiveness of having everyone on the same schedule.

Oh wow.. that brings back such fond memories! I remember that getting on the bus and she didn't wave back !!! Can you guess who had the seperation anxiety.

This fall she goes off to college.... I'm SOO not ready for her to leave! Enjoy the time it goes so fast!

Danna: I have 3 boys too. The oldest goes to KG this fall! I can't believe it either! I know it will be bittersweet! I can't even imagine this being the last one out of the nest....altho I know when that day comes I will be so sad...then I will click my heels in the air and go to the gym!!!! :) ha ha
