Bang a gong or in case bong comes into mind by Power Station. I also think that our wonderful legislators in SC have been smokin' with him. In today's paper, The State, they want to outlaw thong swimsuits. Not that I would ever wear one. I have done all those leg press for nothing?!

Trouble is then we'd get nothing resolved in this country because everyone would just be sleepy and hungry Then again all the "I loooove you's" might not be so bad.

Maybe there wouldn't be anything left to resolve. I bet war would become extinct if pot smoking was a requirement for politicians.

BTW, there are lots of politicians I worship. But then, that's my chosen field, what I studied in college & grad school, what I decided to make my career. That said, most of them have been dead for a pretty long time.

OTOH, I cannot think of a single athlete I worship. Maybe one or two I admire, but they're probably athletes who make a pittance compared to those like A-Rod & Kobe Bryant, who seem to be able to do pretty disgusting things w/no ramifications whatsoever.

let's not forget that this is not his 1st run in with substance abuse....he had a DUI after his last olympics.......and yes he must be under some serious pressure from fans and media to be 'a golden boy'.......I guess he's proving that he is only human, but if he were to 'make another mistake' like this in the future, I hope we are not so naive to overlook it a 3rd time....

Everyone has such strong feeling about this situation; I didn't read all of the posts so if I'm repeating anything I'm sorry, here is my two cents: we love to put people on such high pedestals and the moment they do the slightest thing wrong we want to condemn them....yes he did something illegal, yes it was stupid, but his is young and should be allowed to make mistakes and learn from them. Clearly he has not been taking or using drugs all of this time because he was in training and being tested. It appears that after all the hard work leading up to the Olympics and winning all those gold medals he stopped training and started acting like a 23 year old. I don't have kids, but it seems this is a perfect example of what not to do, how one little hit on a bong while partying with friends can destroy your entire career. He has suffered consequences, he's been dropped from endorsements and he's been humiliated. Do you realize that you can become a cop and a FBI/DEA agent even if you have smoked pot (in your past). Former president Clinton has smoked pot (in his youth) as well as Obama (over 20 yrs ago) and excuse me but GEORGE W. was/is a cocaine user and an alcoholic and a C STUDENT! I'm not saying it right, I'm just saying young Michael has made a mistake that I hope he can recover from.

I'm tired, pms'ing and in general a little fuzzy this morning, so bare with me. What are we arguing about here exactly??? He did a stupid thing, broke the law, embarrassed himself. He's paying for it, as he deserves to. Yeah, he's a stupid kid, but that's not a "get out of jail free card". He still has to pay, which he is and he'll do just fine. I'm sure he'll be back to competing in 3 months and this will all blow over. No one said he should go straight to hell or be burned at the stake for one mistake. So, what's the issue???

Definitely couldn't make them any dumber! I'm watching all these politicians with their opinions about the stimulus plan and wondering...what makes them think they know anything more about economics than those of us who didn't make it past Macro 201 before getting bored and switching to a psychology degree? Nobody has a clue what's going to work.
