MIC

I tried to do this last night for the first time, but I was whooped after the first section and couldn't imagine doing another 35 minutes on the step. I'm gonna try it again tonight. I felt like such a loser!

Don't feel like a loser Caren. It's one of Cathe's toughest & it definitely takes a while to work up to. Just stick w/it & you'll get there!

Thank you! I guess the reason I posted it here was because I wanted someone to tell me I wasn't a loser. haha! : )

Hi Caren,

One thing I do with this workout is eat some sort of energy snack, like a bagel, granola, etc, 30-60 minutes prior to doing it. Having that carbo boost seems to make a difference for me in getting through it.

It's toughie, but keep at it!

You are not a loser!! This is a TOUGH workout, and takes some learnin'! Run through it a couple of times, heavily modified, until you get a better sense of how to pace yourself. Many people do this workout as a split, rather than all on one day. Even Cathe took a nice long break in between the hi/lo and the step, as you can see when she returns for the step segment in a totally different outfit and looking showered and refreshed.

Just think: what fun would a video be if you could do it perfectly from day one? It's room to grow, room to challenge yourself! Just keep adding on segments, and you'll get there.

You're no loser!! Be nice to yourself and congratulate yourself for how much you COULD do! It's tough!;)

Thanks for the encouragment!! You guys are the best. That's why this is my favorite forum.

Your absolutely right, it wouldn't be any fun if I could do it perfectly the first time!

Hey, I just did the Hi Lo segment two days ago! I don't ever do this workout all in one day. I have a 4 year old that I have to have energy left to chase after! ;) I used to beat myself up over it, now I just got to the point where I figure, Hey I did the Hi Lo, that the first time I got this workout, I couldn't even get through. So, at least I can say that! Way to go on getting through the Hi Lo the first time!

Caren although I do not have this dvd, I would not call you a loser. I just viewed this workout and it looks like it can take the wind out of you. However I will be receiving this workout either today or tomorrow and I will let you know how I did.

Hang in there girl it will get better.

Sandra: thanks for pointing that out! I never understand why people beat themselves up trying to do MIC without stopping like it's the ultimate challenge and they have to conquer it. Cathe does not even go straight through herself!

Cut yourself a break, and if you must do MIC all the way through, build up to it slowly. Go all out on the first section as your cardio for the day. Stop, get a drink of juice and sip it slowly. Then, start the second section at a much lighter intensity, with lowered step, telling yourself you are just going to get a feel for the moves. See how much you want to do as you learn the choreography. Maybe you'll end up doing it all, maybe you'll quit after 10 minutes. Either way, you will have conquered the challenge you set for yourself that day and that is just fine.

Personally, I only ever do the first section of this workout. I use it as a warm up for weight training. It's the perfect length for that. I never do the step section ever because in comparison to Step blast, Powermax, etc, this is a rather uninspired piece of step choreography I find and the music does nothing to motivate me.

If you insisted on a long cardio session, you may find it more interesting to tack together 2 of the CTX cardios. Certainly, this would help with cross training........ this is a way more interesting way to go IMHO.

I hear what your saying Clare. I guess it's because up until the past few month, I have been doing lower intensity workout's (Cardio Kick, KP&C, Powerstrike) and I never had a problem doing those all the way through, so when I can't finish a harder one I think I'm doing something wrong. Thanks for the suggestions.

I cannot do this workout all the way through either. I usually skip the hi/lo portion, not only becuase I hate hi/lo, but because I just can't stand to watch Cedie bounce around for 25 minutes. I really wish she wore a better bra in this one, I just feel terrible - it couldn't have been comfortable for her.

Yeah - it's a toughy. Don't give up, though, once you get to Cathe doing the "uh...uh-uh" during the uneven lunges, you know you're almost done!

This was my first Cathe video and I didn't believe that Cathe et al. were actually doing it all the way through themselves. I felt sure that they must have taken a break and then started refilming.

You'll get it and then won't you feel proud of yourself. (oooh. I think that's a direct quote from my daughter's potty training book)

LOL Susan, Cedie definitely got the bargain bra for that video! I remember reading about her bouncing on Videofitness before I even got the tape.

Dont feel bad. This was my first Cathe video, and I did not make it all the way through the hi/lo. And I got so frustrated with the step part, I did not touch the video for about 9 months! I finally pulled it out after I was able to complete KPC and cardio kicks without dying and was able to finish MIC. I just finished a rotation with MIC 3 times a week. I now do it once a week. You'll feel so great once you do it!

This was my first intro to Cathy in Jan. of 2000 (5 years ago now!) when I was waiting to get a step. I only did the Hilo part, and it was quite a while until I did the whole thing.

I'm going to do some big eating this weekend, so it's on my workout schedule. I'm going to where a pedometer so I can see how many steps it is. I did Imax II and it was 5415. I'm also going to do the Step Blast/Step Jump & Pump combo which should add up to a pile of steps.

You are definitely not a loser. I still remember the first time I did this one. I had Power Max and Body Max so thought it wouldn't be so hard. I had to stop repeatedly to catch my breath. This is a very hard workout.

Somebody please tell me what MIC stands for? I am not familiar with the workouts yet, so I don't know what the appreviations mean.

Thank you.
