Mere Mortal Mish Moshes

Hi All:
I really enjoy finding out how other's customize Cathe's workouts to accommodate how they are feeling on a given day (hard day/light day) and would love to hear more. I am taking Susan's suggestion of starting a thread of challenging but not "evil" mish moshes.

If I want to go full tilt step I like to do the step section of BodyMax immediately followed by the step section of MIC. That's sure to get the endorphins pumping and gets me the cardio fix I crave.}(
I also enjoy doing CTX Step and Intervals followed by Intervals 6 - 10 of IMAX or IMAX2.

What's your personal favourite "mish mosh", I need inspiration:) :)
TIA

Laurie

RIGHT ON PINKY!!!!!! Now there's some inspiration that I know will equal much perspiration!!!! }( :p Thanks for sharing.
I'm starting a 'mish mosh' file of these and A-Jock's heart pounding, jaw dropping combinations for future reference. I'm still in the process of replacing VHS with DVD and this has got me wanting to blow the budget and fire up the credit card.:)

Laurie, I saw A-Jock's mish moshes and I just know they're beyond my league.:) They do inspire you to be creative with your workouts.

And to really fire up your credit card, here are a few more from my older logs:
PH chest/back/shoulders + MIS chest/back/shoulders
PH biceps/triceps + MIS biceps/triceps
Or you can do:
PH chest/back + MIS chest/back
PH shoulders/biceps/triceps + MIS shoulders/biceps/triceps
S&H legs + PH squats & lunges
I used to do these when I was trying to build muscle and they worked pretty well for me.

Others I've been thinking about yet still have to try:
KPC cardio conditioning premix + SB challenge and intervals
RS warmup & step challenge + 3 IMAX 1 intervals of your choice + MIC step only
Power Max warmup & section 2 + Step Fit section 1 + Step Works section 2

Enjoy!

Thanks for starting this, Laurie! (And I love the alliterative title!:) ) Your mish-moshes look great and yours look awesome, Pinky! This is a print-out thread for sure.

I haven't had Cathe's collection long enough to do too many mish-moshes. Doing them as produced (or doing the premixes) has given me enough variety so far. Sometimes if I want to get a taste of a couple of workouts I haven't done yet, I'll do sections of each, as I did with Power Max and Step Works. I also like to add the Step Blast Challenge to shorter cardios or a couple of Bootcamp cardio-only intervals. The intervals from CTX S&I are always a good add-on too, as are CTX KB and KPC high-intensity power drills.

I don't know if you guys do Christi Taylor, but if you like dancy choreography, her workouts are fun, fun, fun! I have the Fantastic Four DVD, which is well-chaptered and would be perfect for combining a section or two with some more intense Cathe. (I haven't done this yet; I just thought of it while typing this.)

Keep 'em coming, folks!:)

Susan, now you got me all excited!}( I ordered Christi Taylor's Fantastic Four and Terrific Trio DVD's over the weekend for the hi/lo workouts. Now I can't wait to try them.:)

Hi Laurie! My favorite mish mosh lately that I have been doing is cardio only from C&W, then the step only from SJ&P follow by blast only from Imax2. Good thread, I need some more mish mosh:)

Coincidentally enough I too am awaiting delivery of Christie Taylor's Fantastic Four. I ordered it at the same time as I ordered Cathe's new workouts and they'll be delivered together. I'll just have to keep practising patience for a little while longerx( ;-) I haven't done any Christie Taylor as of yet and am really looking forward to them.

I did a mini mish mosh this morning. Step from SJP and all of C&W, it was a really fun workout and I went heavy on the weights. It put more than just a shine on my brow:)

Hey Barbara:
That's too funny, as I'm posting about my little SPJ/C&W mish mosh, there you were posting about the same two workouts.:) :) I gotta order myself some more DVD's and really get creative, I want to be having as much fun mishing and moshing as you DVDers.:)

One of my favorite mish-moshes is: Hi/Low MIC with SPJ hi/low circuit.
Also, CK and KPC (excluding warmup and arm drills/punches)with ME abs.
SB Challenge w/ ME/BC bonus combo.
I know I will discover so many more!

Hi everyone! I just did this mish-mosh today:

- Warmup and Stage One of C. Taylor's Hi/Lo Heaven (29:14)
- Step Blast Challenge (13:21)
- CTX S&I Intervals Only (10:45)
- SJP Abs and Stretch (5:20 + 4:21 = 9:41)

The workout took a little more than an hour (62:21). Christi's hi/lo is so much fun; I wish it were a bit more intense, but adding some a few Cathe intervals makes it challenging and fun without killing you.

How's about this:

CTX Kickbox warm-up and cardio; then
Boot Camp kickbox only premix; then
Boot Camp core only premix

Or how's about this:

Body Max warm-up and standard step segment; then
CTX Step Intervals interval segment

Or how's about this:

CTX Power Circuit warm-up and hi/lo segment;
SJP hi/lo add-on segment (omits resistance cycles); then
SJP abs

Or how's about this:

CTX AllStep warm-up and step segment; then
CTX Step Intervals interval segment; then
PUB pyramid up premix

Or how's about this - a cool ab-blaster:

KPC abs only segment on ball and roll-ups (omits pikes); then
SJP abs entire segment

(you knew i had to throw in at least one eeeeeeevil one . . .)

Woah, sounds like a great cardio workout. I love mixing up hi/lo and step in the same workout. You've really got me looking forward to trying Christie's workouts. I took a break from step and did 30 minutes Charlene Prickett and SJP without the step section. I skipped the stretch and did some curious stretching in the garden.
I love diggin' in the dirt!!:)

Thanks A-Jock!!! I can just see you wringing your hands and laughing eeeeeeeeevilly}( as you are inspired with yet another classic 'mish mosh'. Yours are a sub-section in my growing file, for those days when I'm full of p*%s and vinegar.:)

Thanks, A-Jock! These look great!

(Do you give yourself a manicure or something while you do these to get your heartrate high enough?)}(

Great post Laurie....some of you girls are crazy, but I do like it! I did a fun one yesterday as I am trying a bit less but more intense cardio.
Imax1 warm up and first step and interval segment, then the rest of the intervals, just the blasts and recoveries, then Bodymax first 2 power circuits. Next time maybe all 4 power circuits!...:)...Carole

Hello, Sooooooooooooosan (if that IS your real name . . .) -

I do use those as a good cool-down; I can't multi-task enough to do my own manicures yet.

Another good mish-mosh cornerstone for me is the CTX Kickbox core plank (both the prone/face-down and supine/face-up) and roll-up part of that entire segment, done before or after a more traditional ab segment. My current faves for that are:

CTX planks and roll-ups; THEN
CTX Leaner Legs ab section

CTX planks and roll-ups; THEN
Cardio-Weights ab section

CTX planks and roll-ups; THEN
Slow and Heavy traditional ab section

Also regarding the CTX Kickbox core section roll-ups: recently I devised a great way to get a little more oomph to that particular exercise: I wear my 1-lb each handweight gloves, and when I perform the roll-down I draw my hands across my chest and cross them, then keep them close to and directly over the chest as I perform the roll-up back to the starting position, extending them out at the top of the move. This is distinct from how Cathe and Crew performs these; they either let the hands gently go to the sides parallel to and close to the floor, or go over head. The additional weightload over the chest really makes a difference in roll-up workload. If you don't have handweight gloves, you can simply hold a light weight (or even a large can of soup or something) in your hands as you do these.
