Cynthia - so, is Mercedes doing well these days? I miss being here and keeping up but last I heard, you were driving hours to get her to a vet.
Chrissy - how are you? I love the pics. I look forward to having a dog who will snuggle with my kitties My brother has a humongous dog that scares the pants off of anybody who comes near him (just by appearance alone, and then he barks) but he will share a food bowl with the cat and be more gentle and patient than would be imaginable if you didn't witness it yourself.
Hope you are both doing well, and hugs to your fur babies!
Hi Shana!
I haven't seen you in a while. I hope everything is going well for you
Thank you for thinking of Mercedes and me. You are so sweet!!!!
We were taking Mercedes to a specialist for therapy after we discovered she had Cushing's disease. Unfortunately, she began to show signs of the rare form of Cushing's. In the majority of Cushing's cases, the pituitary tumor is small and never really causes problems. The disease can be managed with medication.
Mercedes has the large tumor. The medication controls her excessive drinking and urinating but it does nothing to stop the growth of the tumor. We took her back for a CT scan and the tests confirmed she has a large tumor and it has been growing for some time. They also found a mass in her spleen. The mass has doubled in size from Sept-Nov. The specialist felt there was very little we could do for her.
So for now, we are keeping her comfortable and enjoying every moment we can with her.
She has been getting extra treats, 100's of kisses everyday, hugs, and snuggle time with the family.
Chrissy - they are Brussels Griffons. Alot of people ask if they are Schnauzers. Brussels Griffons aren't real common so people are always curious about them. They are known for their expressions which are almost human. They are so much fun.
How fantastic! This has made my snowed-in day today! I love all the puppy pics! I'm with all of you! If dogs don't "need" blankets and pillows, mine certainly appreciate them! So does my cat! They all crawl under the blankets at night and my cat, Simon, will cuddle right up under my left arm and lay his head on my shoulder to go to sleep. I wake up with him on one side, Peanut down by my feet under then covers, of course, and Milo up on my right with his head on the middle pillow covered up to his neck! All is right with the world then!
Thanks, Cynthia - your boxers are awesome. I love Boxers - what expressions they make. The one pic of them piled on top of each other cracked me up. My dogs do that too.
Gotta love 'em - as you can see, I'm a terrier lover at heart
From L to R...Hazel is my rescue terrier mix from petfinder. Rescued her from a horrible neighborhood in Columbus. Robbie is my 8 year old Border Terrier. Darcy is a 6 month old Welsh Terrier. She embodies the terrier spirit for sure and so smart. I'm thinking I might do some agility work with that one!
