Melting on a Terrific Tuesday!

SEMEN! (it's starting to look like a regular word around here so I thought I'd jazz it up)

Well, I’ve got a little chicken roasting in the oven, but it still has over 40 minutes to go and I’m starving! Plus DH is not even home yet anyway and I wait for him if possible.

Allie, oh yeah, I remember you mentioning the craigslist thing before. I think I did some searching then but I’ll try again. I am a member of the local freecycle group online and I got rid of some old Tae Bo and Buns of Steel VHS workouts through that. Lordy, your little laughing man cracked me up. Plus your dirty mind cracked me up.

Leanne, do you want me to bring extra goodies for you since I’m coming by car? I don’t have that liquid restriction problem. That was a brilliant idea about the B&B to get the BIL out quickly. I just hope it doesn’t backfire with BIL saying, “oh, in that case I’ll stay over the weekend and watch the place for you while you’re gone.” :p Yep, the boys are on summer break until just after Labor Day. Argh, yeah, it’s no wonder I’m tired.

Tneah, eek, sorry about your iffy tummy. I have never had that trouble but I’ve never been out on the sea on anything but a big cruiseliner. I’ve only been on other boats on lakes and they aren’t rocky.

OK, off to do some more sorting through my packing. Mainly it's just the pre-packing organizing stage right now.

Hi, all,

Allie -- I just PM'd you b/c I wanted to respond immediately to what you posted since I just got home. That is so awesome; you are definitely a humanitarian!!! Still waiting on your real big news! Your teacher is right -- you help those you can. Have you ever heard the starfish story? It goes something like this:

One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed
a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean.
Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?”
The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean.
The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.”
“Son,” the man said, “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish?
You can’t make a difference!”
After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it back into the surf.
Then, smiling at the man, he said…”I made a difference for that one.”

Making a difference one person at a time is the only way to start! As Shannon and others said, I'm really proud of you. Your sister sounds like someone I'd like to meet!

BTW, I also love Craigslist -- I sold a whole room full of furniture that way.:)

Lainie -- I'm sorry you didn't get a better answer/suggestion from the dr. I hope the B-mod (behavior modification) works with the boys! I was all about B-mod when my girls were little; in fact, we actually got that term from a dr.

Leanne -- Oh, I so wish I could convince you that there is NOTHING to be nervous about, BUT I understand!!!!

Tneah -- Big bummer on the seasickness!!! The dolphins sound amazing, though!

Another RT'er tip/info. item -- The buses are just dirty school buses. The women that I spent most of my time with and I rode them on Friday night, and then we drove the rest of the weekend. It was more expedient, and we weren't sweaty when we got to the gym (or carsick like I can get on a hot bus). We decided that we wouldn't really miss any fun or bonding by skipping the bus. By the end of the weekend, it seemed like quite a few people were driving. Just another thought since Lainie will have her car there.

So my DDs got their school schedules today; one is fairly happy with hers, the other is not at all. They don't have lunch together and the unhappy one has Chemistry and Algebra 2 the last two periods of the day. She also has Spanish 3 first period; as she put it, "[she] can barely speak English that early in the morning." :)

Kristi, I adore that little story you just posted.*sniffs* its so true.:) You and Allison are very special. I try and do things in my own way, I don't like to talk about it for some reason I feel kind of shy, but admire your service so much.
LOL at your DD's comment...not a morning person I take it?:p

I am so behind the times, I have never even visited Craigs list!
Its a lazy day around here, hot and breezy, my tummy is still feeling weird for some reason...boy, that really sucked, I cannot believe I get sea sick, but I used to get carsick when I was little, wonder if its related.

Our new boat gets here Sunday afternoon, so that is exciting! We are just kinda waiting around this week for that to happen, then will be super busy, even work is slow right now...summer always is.

Tneah -- I have this urge to call you "sugar." You do so much for all of us, and your kindness shines through. I am so serious when I say we all serve in our own ways AND it is ALL so important. I'm glad you liked the story. I felt bad about taking up the space. :) Big {{{{HUGS}}}} to you!!!
ETA: Do I seem braggy about our volunteer stuff???? I don't mean to be! I'd just die if it seemed that way. It's just what my day involves! I wouldn't mention it otherwise!

Ah, the kids are in bed, the kitchen is clean, the dishwasher is running, and I'm resting in front of the fan. But I just realized it is now 9:45 but my doc told me to try going to bed at 10. Hmm, maybe I'll try 10:30 or 11 tonight and slowly work it back to an earlier bedtime.

Kristi, goodness no, you don’t sound braggy at all! I would never think that about your descriptions of the stuff you do. I just think it’s cool that you are involved like that. I would like to volunteer somehow (my particular interest would be helping expats/immigrants who are learning English—because I felt so isolated when we first moved to Holland and spoke only a little Dutch) but I think I will need to wait until my kids are a little older to do it. I’ll at least be helping in the church school in the fall, so I will feel I’m contributing somewhere. Oh, but I won’t have my car at the RT. I’m coming by car, but in the car of another woman who lives nearby (speaking of which, I better touch base with her soon and make more definite plans). So I will still have to be catching rides with others.

Tneah, yeah, we should call you Sugar. :) You are such a sweetie! I’m excited for you that the boat will be coming so soon. Maybe you should try one of those seasickness bracelet thingeys? Don’t they sell something like that and you just put it on your arm?

Good grief! It's late and you've all chatted up a storm today!

We had another kind of around the house day. Sophie and I baked bread - these little mini-rolls that are SO GOOD! Oh my goodness, I could have eaten all of them in one go! I also ran six miles and set another PR - 56:28 - shaved 6 whole seconds off the last one;)

I can't remember much of what y'all were talking about but I'll give it a go.

Kristi - thank you for the package! And no, you don't ever sound like you're bragging when you talk about your volunteer work! I think it's brilliant! And I loved that little starfish story. How wonderful!

Allie - how fabulous that you've found something to be passionate about. I'm 44 and haven't found anything yet. Hmmmm... that makes me kinda sad, actually.

Leanne - yes, definitely boot BIL out early and your B&B story sounds perfect. Oh, and I bet the bracelet looks gorgeous, but I'd love to see a pic anyway! And finally, I was at Costco today and they had a little Ott light on sale with a coupon and it fits perfectly on my scrapbooking desk and it was only $21.99!

Tneah - ugh on the seasick thing. I get seasick standing on the dock, so I feel your pain. I think you can get a patch or something to use for longer voyages.

Lainie - I would agree that you should get to bed earlier. I try to be in bed at 9 during the week, which sounds ridiculous, but if I'm getting up to work out, I get up at 4:15, so that barely gives me seven hours. Who are you driving to RT with? Just curious :)

Shannon - I'm glad you're loving your little car. How is Brandy liking the roominess or has she been for a ride yet?

Hi to everyone else. I'm off to bed!

Hi Kittens

I went to work at 6:30 a.m. and just got home at 8:30 p.m. FUN, FUN, not really. The drive there was 3 hours, and the car search was 7 frickin hours, which should have been 3 at tops and the 3 more hours home. I am tired. Good thing I decided to take off tomorrow too.

Deb - the warm up on Lauren's DVD is titled Joint Mobility, you do that first before the workout. I am glad you liked it.

Kristi - When I started working out at 12, it was gymnastics. I loved it, but holy crap I would worry if Tayler wanted to do that. She tried it for summer rec last year and is not coordinated at all. I am 5'4" and her dad is 6"3" and she is already tall, so does not have the athletic build. We are hoping for volleyball or basketball for her and she likes both of those.

Leanne -Coach's Oats - YUMMY!!!! got my KB Newport DVD, I think I will try it tomorrow.

Hi everyone else. Sorry not very many personals, but I will be back tomorrow.

OMG! Kristi! In no way shape or form do you or have you EVER sounded like you were "bragging" about the things you and your family do with the charity, oh dear no! That is so funny, you and I are so much alike in regards to that...I was hesitant to post pics of the boat cause I didn't want to seem like I was bragging about it! I love that you talk to us about your service, I just feel kinda inferior sorta cause I feel like I could do more, you know what I mean? But after reading that little story you posted I realize that those little things are important too, so thank you for that! You are just so gracious and caring, its really incredible. I have often thought of volunteering at the local animal shelters because I adore cats and dogs so much, but couldn't handle the harshness of wanting to take them all home with me, I am so sensitive I don't know if I could handle it, so I give to the Human Society and the one that you see on Animal Planet, the one where "In the arms of the angels" plays in the background? I cry every time I see that commercial, I swear I am a big ole sissy pants.:p((HUGS)) back to you dear lady. And yes, do call me "Sugar" I love that.:D

Shellers...yum..freshly baked bread with real butter is what life is all about.:D Way to go on that run chica, you are such an inspiration, I was thinking about you yesterday as I plodded along on the treadmill, thinking how amazing it was you can run so fast. I ran at 7.0 for three minutes and thought I might die..well not really die, but good grief. My comfy speed is 5.5 to 6.2 and thats it, even when I ran all the time that was how fast I would go. But am happy to report my walking speed has increased thanks to Grace, I can now walk at 4.9 pretty well.

Lainie bug, you sound like my DH a real night owl...I am not, in fact I am, not a morning person either, more like a mid-morning person...oh, and yep, we have those wrist things you wear for the seasickness, I put them on as soon as could actually walk...

Okay, eating was pretty good today, I did have a few pieces of black licorice...no biggie though, so am proud of myself, day 2 of no pita chips and wine.;)Talk to you all tomorrow..wonder how our Breckie gal is faring on her new program??

I just love all of you girls!!! What a blessing to know you and to get to chat with you each day! I'll talk to you all tomorrow!

Shelley, did you order Amy's new workouts? Yeah, I should work on getting to bed earlier. Oops, just realized it's almost 11....

Peggie
, sorry your day was not fun, though we all had fun here saying SEMEN.

Tneah, yep, a night owl in an early bird world (and with early bird kids and husband). ***sigh***

Kristi, we are the best group! Shh, don't tell the other groups!

Wow, that was fun. My old college roomie just called me on Skype on the computer. I haven't used that in a while. She was showing me her braces and the latest changes to them.
