Goodmorning Shelley. I hope you, Sophie and Sister have a faboo time at the Falls. Shop more, eat less, but enjoy!

I'm up early and just waiting for the coffee to kick in before doing 4DS/Kickbox bi and tris. My "dinner party" went well last night and I only splurged a bit, with some wine, a small piece of cherry pie ala mode, and some chocolate. I'm ready to eat clean for the rest of the weekend. A friend of mine is preparing a Thai meal for a church supper tonight, but the menu looks pretty safe. I'm planning on a little bit of this, a little bit of that.

tneah, good for you having herbal tea while everyone else was screaming for alcohol over on the OF!

I'm going to go catch up on the rest of yesterday's forum now. Hope everyone has great Saturday plans.

OK, I'm back to attempt some personals.

Goodmorning Judy! Have fun with the guests and the wedding. I'm sure you will be too busy to overeat.

Deb, did you get your dogs test results? I sure hope it was good news.

Megadoo, is Chase any better today? Now that there is a baby in the house, we are all experiencing more colds. Of course, DH has always dragged stuff home from his students.

Emily, a pound loss during PMS is great! Just wait till the post-PMS weigh-in.

Michele, I'm glad your DH arrived home safe and sound. Have a wonderful weekend. Try to stay away from the donuts!

tneah, I think clothing fit is a much better indication of weight/fat loss then the scale. We are just so programed to look at those stupid numbers. I was kind of disappointed after dropping those three pounds that my jeans didn't seem to fit any looser. Maybe by next weekend I'll see a difference in fit.

TK, I'm in the post-menopausal crowd too. It's nice not to deal with TTOM, PMS and the up and downs they cause, but then again, it seems harder to lose any weight. Other than the hot flashes that keep me awake, I really have very little to complain about though.

Sarah! Yay on your loss! Don't get on the scale over the weekend now!

Shannon, of course you are welcome to join in. Actually, even though it's called a 10 pound challenge, I think some of have different goals.

Lanie, yeah, skip the weigh in until your "cycle" is more favorable. I'm glad yesterday was a better day.

Hi to B and anyone else I may have missed. Try to be good over the weekend all you melters.

Good Morning Melters!

Today is my rest day so I get to do house work, chores, pay bills etc. Not sure why I call this a "rest" day! I would rather be excercising..

Being my rest day it is also my "cheat Meal" day. DH and I usually go to our favorite Mexican restaurant for lunch. :9 .

Shelley:
Are you going to the Outlet Mall in the Falls? With the Canadian dollar being so good right now you should be able to get a lot of bargains!

Robin:
You did really well with the dinner party and not going overboard with eating. Unfortunetely the vet did not have all the results back so I have to wait until Monday to hear anything.x( Another post-Menopausal here. I have the rare hot flash and that is about all. But getting rid of the weight around the middle is not fun!

Have a great day..

Deb;-)

Hi Melters. DH is working today so I have the house to myself. No set plans except some sewing. I'm finishing up another quilt for the Ronald MacDonald house. This one is a little different from the standard as it's for an older child instead of an infant or toddler. Every other block has a different color set of sandals. Too cute!

Shelley: Please share with us all your great shopping finds! I'll have to live vicariously thru you because I'm on a strict budget right now. x(

Robin: I hear ya about the post-menopausal stuff. Between that and my underachieving thyroid, I don't expect these 10 pounds to be easy. Funny story, I have this young Indian guy who sits next to me at work. He sees me fanning myself all the time and once asked me why I'm so warm. I just told him I was still warm from my morning workout LOL. If I told him the real reason I think he'd be terribly embarrassed or wouldn't understand and ask me to explain it to him. The boy is going to get a real education soon as his family just matched him to a girl and they're getting married early January!

Judy: I'm surprised you found time to post! You have a busy weekend with all those guests. Just remember to send all the extra food home with them so you're not tempted later.

Deb: It doesn't sound much like a 'rest day', but the Mexican food is definitely worth looking forward to!

Good Morning All!:7

I sipped herbal tea and watched "Little Women" last night!:) Wow, I am such a party animal aren't I? I did snack a little more than I would have liked, a few handfuls of nuts, some grapes...oh and who mentioned that Cool Whip thing?}( Of course I had to have some, so I had some spoonfuls of that. I should have made a real "dinner", would not have munched so much. But oh well.

I feel my mindset slowly starting to change for the better, this is a good thing and will make sticking to my new, healthier "habits" a easier.I really want to lose some bodyfat and look REALLY defined. Then I shall take some pics and post them-maybe, I am very shy in front of the camera though!

I wound up doing an oldie but goodie yesterday, Billy Blanks Ripped Advanced workout.:) He is such a hoot isn't he? His tapes were my very first at-home workouts and I will always have a soft spot for him. Plus his older stuff is fun.I attempted yoga last night-I just cannot get into it you guys, I hate it. So I did a 30 minute stretch-felt great afterwards.

Robin, great control last night, having a little bit of the good stuff feels so much better the next morning doesn't it? Whether its wine, sweets, fatty foods...way to go. Enjoy that Indian food, it sounds like you have a great church family!

Shelley, you and your Sophie and sis enjoy the day, shopping burns alot of calories :D

TK, those quilts sound adorable, I have always wanted to learn how to sew, that is really cool. Have a good weekend!

Judy, I am right there with ya, I still have guests through the weekend, food everywhere, hum, maybe I will feed them carrot sticks and celery to remove temptation from the house.:)

Deb, enjoy your Mexican food, my personal favorite!

And to Lanie, Shannon, B, and the rest of you beautiful gals, sending much "clean eating" vibes your way today.

:7 :7

Hi all. We took a little drive around the area today to look at the beautiful fall foliage. Very nice relaxing Saturday morning. It really is gorgeous here (in NY--20 miles northwest of NYC).

Unfortunately I came home with a big headache (though at least not a migraine). It's probably related to TTOM. Ugh. Tomorrow I start those new 3-month pills! Wish me luck since I often get migraines when I miss or switch BC pills.

Today (depending on the headache), I plan to do some back and shoulder work from Amy's new Slo-Mo workout. Tomorrow is a rest day, so if I decide to rest today I can always do it tomorrow. My eating was o.k. yesterday, but could have been better. So far so good today. At least I'm over that PMS constant munchies time.

Shelley, I guess you're already gone on your shopping trip--I envy you!

Judy, hope you're keeping your sanity with the houseguests!

Robin, have fun kicking but with Cathe on the Kickbox.

Deb, yum, Mexican food--enjoy!

TK, have fun sewing. I went through a sewing phase in high school but I've only sewed on buttons since then. Sometimes I think about getting a sewing machine to do some sewing, but I know I couldn't do quilts--very impressive.

Hello and clean eating vibes to any who check in later!

Hi everyone -

Ok, I'm new to this posting thing -- and have finally figured out what you mean by "personals"! I'm horrible with names in the "real world" -- so I'm going to try and do better while on the forums!!

The scale didn't move any yesterday, so I'm still just down one pound. I'm really proud of myself for sticking to the workouts - I got in 4 this week (and I plan to do number 5 in a little bit). However, I have lurked enough to know that eating is the key. And you should never trick yourself into thinking that just because you worked out you can eat a lot more. I think that was my problem this week.

It sounds like everyone is having a good day - shopping, Mexican food, sewing!! Hey Lanie, let us know how the 3 month pills work out, I've been thinking of trying those out as well.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!
Michelle

Hi Michelle! I am often guilty of eating more when I work out. I think you can eat a little more, if it's good food but you can't go nuts.

I just got back from jogging for an hour and my ankle felt fine! I did have one moment when it hurt (I ran over something and it twisted a little) but then it was fine. I didn't intend to run today but I just had the urge so I went. It's a beautiful day to run outside--cool and crisp and leaves littering the trail overlooking the Hudson River. It was a great workout!

"I didn't intend to run today but I just had the urge so I went." - I can't wait until I feel that way about running! :) Sounds like it was beautiful! Have a good day!

Michelle

Hi,

Well I am back home and attempting to make a dent in the laundry mountain that formed while I was gone.

My weigh in for the week showed no change which I have to say I am happy with considering a week of eating in restaurants.

Tonight I am planning on a workout from the 4DS. This morning I went for a short run with the dog.

I am going to try and catch up on reading the forum later tonight so I will do personels later.

Cari

Good Morning Melters!

I did the Legs & Core workout from the 4DS series. I really like this leg workout, not too many squats or lunges! Those can kill your knees. I even like the kickbox warm up she does. I just use the "weights first" pre-mix, then skip the kickboxing part and go right to the Core work. The core work from this DVD is interesting and fun . No boring crunches! I will add the shoulder work to the Biceps & triceps workout, so I can do it all in 3 days instead of 4.

TK:
A fellow quilter! I love quilting, but have not done much in a while. It is so relaxing. The Mexican was great, and the best thing is I only eat half, so I have the leftovers for tomorrow night dinner!

Tneah:
I am with you on the Yoga.. I hate it! When I was doing P90X, I just did either Pilates or another cardio day.

Lainie:
What do you think of the new Slo-Mo workouts? Your jog sounds wonderful! Don't you love autumn in the east? Yesterday we took the dogs to a local park that has a 1.8 mile path around it. I thought they would be sore & tired today but they did great! They loved all the smells and the leaves on the ground. We took pictures to use to make calendars for my DF and DH's Mom.

Michelle:
Welcome and good for you on the sticking with the workouts! ;-)

Cari:
Restaurant eating can be dangerous! if you didn't gain, I would be proud too..:7

Have a great day

Deb;-)

Happy Veterans Day! Just want to say a "thank-you" to all of our service men, past and present.:) We love you!!

Its Sunday already-wow. Did great yesterday, had some lowcal/sugar free hot chocolate (topped it with whipped cream of course) last night, watched a little "Mr.Bean":7 and called it a day. My DH and his "boys" the guys down here to work watched the fight on HBO. I actually spent the day helping my DH write a new ad for one of our products-productive day really, plus I did DrillMax finally. I had forgotten how tough that workout really is.:) Or maybe since I can finally do most of the moves without modification (my new hip is bionic, I swear!) it seems harder.

Its going to be a crazy next few weeks, so today I start making my "to-do" lists:) If I don't do this, and structure my days, things don't get done. Aren't you all excited for Thanksgiving? I ordered a 30 pound turkey for our guests, I cannot wait. I am even going to write down all my workouts for the upcoming week, will be concentrating on the Squeeze, pilates/type workouts and cardio. my muscles are incredibly sore from the past few weeks of weights.

I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend, I miss the fall season back east. I adore the colder weather and the snow-you all are lucky! We do not get any of that here in Vegas, its still in the upper 70's. :-( I am such a sweater and boot girl, so I long for those really cold, crisp days when you can get all bundled up.

OK, I will not write a book here, just popped in to say, remember tomorrow is weigh-in for some, stay the course, if I can do it, so can you!:7

Hi Melters. Today is my last day on phase one of South Beach. Tomorrow I can start eating fruit and more complex carbs. Yesterday I bought some apples from a local orchard. Can't wait!

Deb: A fellow quilter! Not only is it relaxing it also keeps my hands busy. If my hands are busy I'm less likely to snack. I wonder how many other quilters there are on this forum? I've always thought that the court house steps block could be modified to look like dumbbell. That would be a fun block exchange for fitness-minded people.

Lainie: When the weather is cool like this, how could you not go out and enjoy it? Sounds like you have a beautiful place you can go to take your run. How's your ankle feel today?

Cari: Welcome back! If you didn't gain weight after a week of restaurant food, that should be considered a victory.

Tneah: Our leaves are finally at their peak this week and the weather has turned a bit colder. I just wish the leaves stayed on the trees! In a week or two I'll be hard at work with leaf-raking/blowing. I'll also have to pull up my vegetable garden. I will miss the fresh veggies over the winter but I do love wearing sweaters.

Mich23: Kudos to you for sticking to your workouts. You are totally right about eating being the key. I seem to have the workout habit nailed, but the food habit gets derailed every now and then. Also, don't worry about keeping up with the 'personals'. I find it hard to keep up with it myself, especially when there's lots of people on. Just keep checking in and letting us know how you're doing. We're all here to support one another.

4DS Bis and Tris are on the agenda today. I better get up off my butt and get started! Talk to everyone later.

Hello, Delicate Melting Snowflakes.

I'm having an easygoing Sunday. It's a rest day, which is lucky since I'm so sore from yesterday's jog. I even had trouble walking to church today. Ouch! I guess I'm going to have to work back up to regular jogging. Also, after I posted about my jog yesterday, I got up and did some weight work for my back and shoulders, as well as core work, after all. I didn't do a video but just did my own thing. That way I felt better about skipping the planned workout to jog.

I did ok with eating yesterday until last night--when we ordered pizza. I only had 1 1/2 pieces, though, so it could have been worse. Back to clean eating today.

Deb, so far all I've done from Slo-Mo (since I changed plans yesterday) is the Chest, Biceps & Triceps split, and I really liked that one. She does a lot of unique moves but it flows well. I found her APX kind of annoying with the constant equipment changes, but she seems to have changed that so that you don't have to move stuff around as much. I also like how Slo-Mo has some great premixes--there are 3 different total body premixes in addition to the splits. I do love autumn here. I love cooler weather in general--like I prefer mountains to beaches. Maybe it's because I'm so pale I never look good on the beach but I can really rock a warm hat. ;)

Tneah, I'm big on to-do lists as well. I have spreadsheets with lists of whom I need to buy gifts for, and that sort of thing. I'm a bit behind this year, though. I need to get busy soon. Part of the problem is I don't know yet where we're doing Thanksgiving or Christmas. We might end up just staying here, but I'll miss my family. :(

TK, sounds like you're doing well sticking to South Beach. I keep thinking maybe I should go ahead and get the book and try that. It sounds more reasonable than Atkins, which never appealed to me. Yes, we have a gorgeous place to run, so I should do it more often! My ankle is feeling so much better. I'll still go to the P.T. on Wed. and talk to them, especially considering right now I'm taking a prescription anti-inflammatory med. I would like to feel this good without the meds.

OK, enough blathering on. Hope everyone's having a great Sunday.

Delicate melting snowflakes. LOL. That's not what I feel like when I'm stomping around on my step.

We've had a pretty busy weekend. Our Thai dinner at church was wonderful last night. There were four helpers, with my friend in charge and we pulled together one heck of a meal. We had Phad Thai, a broccoli and chicken stir fry, 2 kinds of grilled chicken, three types of soup, sticky rice, spicy squid and gobs of fresh veggies and fruit. I know my eating was good, because there wasn't anything "bad" there. We are planning on doing something similar over Thanksgiving or Christmas, when my son is home.

We had our monthly fellowship meal after church this afternoon and I took a tossed salad. That was all I ate, so I had a half a PB&J when I got home. Then I did Amy Bento ASC2. This evening is pizza night, so I'm going to make myself another salad.

No time for personals right now. I'll see you all tomorrow. Bye.

Squid?? Oh dear. All the rest of the Thai sounds delish, but the squid sorta threw me!:D Glad you had a great day, talk to everyone tomorrow!

Squid!?

Squid is high on my list of disgusting foods -- LMAO!!

My eating was atrocious this weekend, but so yummy! We went to a French restaurant for our anniversary and our dinner was superb! I'm hoping weekend my workouts were rigorous enough to make up for the gluttony. I managed to do the 2 workouts I missed during the week, and then DH and I went hiking through a beautiful nature preserve. The trail was long and involved a fair amount of climbing. All in all we had a lovely weekend.

I'm a little too tired for personals right now, but I'll see you all tomorrow. I'm ready to jump right back on the clean eating bandwagon ;)

Nighty night everybody :)
