May rotation ? re: Leaner Legs

Greetings Cathe,
I was wondering why the CTX week in the May rotation has Leaner Legs the day after Power Circuit? -joy

I wondered about that as well. I know from my own experience, I don't do well if I work my legs two days in a row. Even though in Powercircuit you're really not focusing on legs but even so it's taxes my lower body. I need at least two days in between workouts that use the lower body.

It's probably just an insight on Cathe's part. I know you are not supposed to do Power Circuit and Leaner Legs back to back. Need at least a day between those two. I don't it matter much if you move if around.

I did Power Circuit this morning (am following the rotation). My legs weren't overworked so I'll be sticking to the schedule. Cathe did say earlier that you can substitute whatever works for you and I have switched tapes around at times (mostly due to the time factor). Otherwise, I am thrilled that Cathe is posting these every month. Looking forward to June!

Hey julier, Just wanted to tell you that I did PC on Saturday then LL on Sunday and this morning my legs were still feeling it. They're okay and I made it through 10-10-10 yesterday and All Step today. So it is do-able, but definately harder than spliting PC and LL! -joy

Joy - You are *not* a wimp for goodness sakes! You have to know that I've been doing Cathe for many years so maybe I'm more conditioned. I just finished it and I'm glad I did it. My legs have been super tight and I really appreciated all the extra quarter deadlifts in this one. Felt great! Tomorrow is 10-10-10 which is one of my faves.

The nice thing about her rotations is I get to pull out the oldies but goodies that I've put aside with all the new stuff out.

Hi Joy! Great question! Since this rotation is targeted for the seasoned exerciser this particular combination will not be detrimental to a seasoned exerciser's training program. There are two main reasons why.....1) It is only done one time in the whole month and 2) Power Circuit only does one minute intervals of leg training between cardio routines, so there is not a whole lot of time spent exhausting the muscle, therfore, not requiring the kind of recovery period that is recommended for a focused lower body workout. However, I definitely do NOT recommend doing Leaner Legs BEFORE Power Circuit, since then you do have a signifigant amount of muscle breakdown that needs longer recovery time. But each individual is different, and if you find that this particular workout combination does not work for you, please feel free to substitute a workout that suits you better. A good rule of thumb is if your legs are super sore, do not do leaner legs the next day. I hope that helps :) Take Care!

This workout nearly made me cry today (Leaner legs), then I decided to do the cardio from Kickbox, oh my land, my legs almost buckled ;)

Well, yesterday I did the first 5 intervals of Imax 2 and then Leaner Legs and I was feeling it all day. I love that feeling that you worked hard the day before. Today I did 10-10-10 and couldn't wait for the step portion to be over so that I could lay down and do tricep work. Tomorrow I'm hoping to finish the last 5 intervals of Imax 2 and then do Power Circuit. I feel really strong this week and like adding additional cardio to CTX. Looking forward to Cathe's June rotation.
