Mass. Voters

Cathlete
Just wondering if our Cathelete's in Massachusetts are heading (or have already gone) to the polls today?

Casted my vote this morning!

Not feeling like a political discussion, but I did cast my vote.

It's very tense and very close!

yes, i voted a few hours ago. the elderly ladies who always work the polls told me it was a record turnout in my neighborhood, higher than some presidential elections.

I live in Virginia, and woke up happy this morning! WAY TO GO VOTERS!!

I think this sends a message to the White House, although they're going to deny it up and down.

Yeah, the message is that Mass. voters forget that it was the Republicans who were in charge when: 1) the economy tanked; 2) two needless wars were started; 3) federal budget ballooned causing massive federal deficits on a yearly basis. Just a short list of many failures of the previous administration that we continue to pay for.

Something I have been hearing on both MSNBC and Fox News and I agree with it, is that what happened last night isn't necessarily a "party" thing. That many Americans are upset with both parties and what is happening in Washington and that's why an "independent" on the Republican ticket won.

I agree with this and would add that what has occurred in the past year has not been the type of change that independent voters were asking for (and were promised) when they turned two branches of the federal gov't over to the Democrats last year. Thank you Massachusetts for (hopefully) bringing it to a halt.

Let us not forget that the Democrats controlled Congress the last two years of the dismal Bush Administration..... Barney Frank furious because how dare the Republicans want more transparency of and were warning about Fannie Mae and Freddie mac (this was back several years before everything tanked) And no I am not a Republican but an Independent voter. And yes I was against the bail outs for the banks and GM. Why are the banks possibly being made to pay an extra "responsibility" tax on loans they (some) have already paid back with interest while GM and the fannie's and freddies don't??
The tax will just be passed along to us the consumers.
I think we should throw all the bums out and start over!
Go Scott Brown and thank you MA

Re: Barney Frank and the debunk myth he opposed regulation of Fannie and Freddie ( I believe this lie was started by Bill O'Reily) see attached link

No sure how electing Scott Brown fixes anything. The Republicans have said they will opose anything Obama tries to do (even if its good for the country). I personally don't think gridlock or blanket opposition works well.

"These two entities-Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac-are not facing any kind of financial crisis" arney Frank Sept 11, 2003

"I believe there has been more alarm raised about potential unsafety and unsoundness (of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac)than, in fact, exists"
Barney Frank Sept 23,2003

"fannie and Freddie are fundamentally sound, they are not in danger of going under....I do think their prospects going forward are very solid."

First, I would need to see the entire conversation to state an opinion. Quotes taken out of context are often misleading.

Second, even if true this is nothing to do with the previous post that stated Frank opposed regulation.

Third, whether Frank said these things or not does not prove that he in any way caused the problem.

BTW, I'm not a Barney Frank fan or anything. I just don't like to see misrepresentations.

I think the vote shows how americans are tired of this congress trying to push this health care reform bill down the throats of americans that are opposed to it. Where is the 'OPEN' government we were promised? What we have instead is back door deals giving special exemptions to states and the unions just to push this thing thru. I thought these people were representatives of the people, not their party. Why the rush to push thru a health care bill that is so complicated and costly? Why not take the time to do it right?

I'm disappointed that this government is not listening to the people. Anyone who speaks out is branded a 'tea bagger' or a right winger.

I'm also upset that this country is so far in debt and so many people unemployed and losing their homes but yet we don't help our people out but we are sending millions to Haiti that we cannot afford to send. What about the people who need help here? Let's help Haiti out but not to the point that we are again burdening the backs of taxpayers. We pay billions to the UN, are they not the organization that is supposed to help out in cases like these?
