mama mommy mom 3-9 week

Yay Steph for no thyroid problems!

Kate - I'm sure you could afford to eat extra pizza and cake! ;)

Trying to get over this darn cold. I got my hair highlighted this morning and a dinner later tonight with coworkers. I just wish I didn't feel so sick. Anyway, be back later.

Lisa

stephanie, so glad it wasnt thyroid! and you do NOT have to "own" your fat lol although i totally understand the sentiment... just visualize what youre gonna look like after working out and eating well for an extended period... i look in the mirror and i see the wrong body lol. i really FEEL like i am the same fit person inside and the body just doesnt match right now, but it will in due time! yours will too with all your hard work! lol at the skinny gene/jeans... and i am such a fan of retail PT, too bad insurance doesnt cover hehe.

kate - i think some cake once in a while is not a sin. we all deserve to treat ourselves every so often (this coming from the girl who felt guilty for days after eating out with the fam last weekend=) a city vaca will def be diff for your kids so try to prepare them ahead of time, maybe... i imagine you'll be doing a lot of sightseeing/museums/shopping/restaurants/etc, its a lot of walking and public transit and very diff from a beach vaca! enjoy!

lisa - i am totally gonna live vicariously through you, hairdresser and dinner out? yay!

hi all others!

promise to post a detailed indie review soon, under separate cover so as not to hijack this check-in, probably after the weekend when ive had a chance to use it like 5-6 times before i start blabbing lol. but so far i looove....

wendy

Wendy, I have no problem enjoying cake from time to time but this weekend is Gina's 7th bday and between making cake for that on Saturday and eatin git on Sunday...... GR! Kate be eatin' lotsa cake! Portion control is so hard!!! I WILL DO IT THO!!!
Glad you're lovin the stroller!

Hit an extra 30 min on the ellip. Stupid cake!:p

Wendy--I know what you mean! I look in the mirror and I don't see the real me. It's like I'm this nesting doll and the real me is under the big fat doll. Anyway, thanks for the pep talk! You're so sweet!

Lisa--I second the "living vicariously through you"! I need to color my hair -- SOOOO many grays!! Hope you get to feeling better soon!

Kate--I'm sure you're just being too hard on yourself. You are SO disciplined! Enjoy Gina's birthday and don't worry about it. Monday is a new day! Happy birthday to Gina!! (My Oliver is 7 too!)

I had a burst of energy today...but now am drained. I got up this morning after feeding Z (she conked back out quicker than usual) and did STS disc 6 (ouch!) and pilates-based abs. Z woke up, we played, I fed her, and she slept again a few hours later. I then felt energetic and did 4DS HIS cardio only. Then Z and I took a 2.4 mile walk...I wore the Cathe weighted vest.

So, a three-a-day day. I am so close to pre-pregnancy weight. Only 3 more pounds to go. But, of course, I need to lose 10-15 after that to be at ideal weight again.

Kate, enjoy the cake. Cake is my weakness. Seeing it makes me salivate!

Stephanie, I hope all your symptoms correct when you get back on birth control. I did an endocrinology elective last semester and my attending said that hypothyroidism won't cause a person who eats a healthy diet and exercises to gain weight. He says they may have an increase of 2-3 pounds of water weight, but not fat. Maybe it is just a plateau you are at now and you'll get over it soon! Oh, and I hope your diet works. I couldn't even semi-fast if I wanted to. :p

Wendy, glad you like the stroller.

Lisa, hope you feel better soon. Enjoy your haircut!

Becky

stephanie, ive been going gray since MIDDLE SCHOOL! its gotten worse w/ each pregnancy. my mom was totally gray in her early 20s and still dyes it. isabel has several grays too:eek:. totally hereditary here. i dont dye mine. i see the expense/upkeep my mom puts into it and i dont want it. tho i do miss my ultra dark brown super thick hair!

becky, i was a 3-a-day yday too! i had the time so i went with it.

i am elbow-deep in cake/frosting for gina! making a penguin cake that is STANDING UP! wish i could post pics:(. she better appreciate this!!!:D

stehanie-glad your thryoid is normal. i think losing pg weight is so different than losing a few pounds that you gained from overeating. be careful with the diets.

kate-what a good mommy! i'm sure gina will love her cake

becky-good w/o's!! if i have the time i squeeze in the extra w/o's too. but that is very rare these days

wendy-glad you are loving your new stroller

lisa-i need to get my hair done so bad. i had an appt mon but i had to cancel b/c of ryder's fever.

i am off to the b-ball field. luckily the boys games overlap so should only be there 3hrs:D then we have a bday party to go to. so kate i will be eating cake too. who knows what junk i will eat at b-ball:eek:

i got a 3 mile run in this am!

candra

Today I did Amy Bento's CIA All Cardio Kickbox. Wow! First time doing it. It is 85 minutes, 10 of which is a weighted ab workout. I loved the ab moves! It was more of a hi-lo workout than a kickbox one, but my heart rate was through the roof and sweat was pouring off of me. I had to take a break between segments 2 and 3 because DH couldn't get Z to quit crying. She was super tired and fussy. I got her to sleep in like 5 minutes. I have got to get him more proficient at that!

No rest day tomorrow for me. I have to rearrange the STS schedule this week since we're going out of town on Thursday. So, tomorrow is disc 7, tuesday is disc 8 and wednesday is disc 9. I plan on bringing my 3 new cardio coaches (they were on sale) and my jillian michaels with me to Ohio.

Candra, great job on the run! I haven't went for a run outside yet. Maybe I'll get to do that next week while my mom holds Z when we're in Ohio (if it is warm enough). Have fun with bball!

Kate, that penguin cake sounds fantastic! Penguins are DH's favorite animal (he's a programmer and likes Linux, an operating system whose mascot is a penguin...totally nerdy, I know) He bought Z a penguin humidifier when she was sick a couple weeks ago.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Doubt I will get any walks in this weekend...it is rainy and ick. Maybe I'll get some house cleaning in or some packing.

Becky

candra, wtg on the run!!!
outside for the game then a party - sounds like a nice day!

becky, wtg on your wo!!! sonds sweaty & fun!!
good planning for sts....ill have to do sthing similar when we go to chicago.
penguin paci - cute!!

-------------------------------
cake is done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! aND its awesome!!! i baked 2 cakes in big glass batter bowls. inverted them. cut the larger end off one and stacked them w/ frosting in between. choc cake. tinted the dk choc frosting black and covered the stacked cakes. made fondant white belly. from the leftover cake end i shaped a head and wings, both covered in fondant tinted black. shaped beak, feet and eyes out of fondant. need to assemble it all right before the party....dont want it to collapse!!!! its on a white cake stand,\. going to fluff some conf sugar for "snow" and i got podered sug donut holes to set around it for snowballs!!! how cool iis all that!!! wish i could post a pic!

Wendy, I am computer-stupid. It diesnt seem to want to load the pic.....maybe its my virus-ridden laptop! I got a new one a few weeks ago but I've been too busy to opebn the box!!!!

Kate--I also have got to see this penguin! I'm really thinking about coloring my hair, but I am having the same worries about it as you had... My mom also has colored her hair for YEARS, and it's a lot of upkeep, even though she's always done the at-home kind of hair color, which is what I'd do too. I just worry about long-term effects of it. Will all those chemicals eventually thin out my hair? Anyway...

Guys, I am so motivated by all of your workouts! You all are superwomen! I am going to do the ab circuits STS dvd tonight. Tomorrow I may try to do a light jog. My ankle is still swollen a little and VERY bruised, but I walked on it ALL DAY yesterday (went shopping with my mom and sister, and my sister is an olympic shopper), and this morning it felt great. DH ran a 5K yesterday in the cold rain and has been having trouble with the side of his calf. Does anyone know anything about tendonitis? He thinks he may have that. OH, and for all of you breastfeeders, you'll appreciate this: he ran in the rain, so his nipples rubbed against his wet shirt and he kept complaining about how much they hurt last night. I said, just imagine if they were cracked and bleeding... THAT'S what I went through while nursing your first born. It was SO funny, it's like he got a little taste of what we women go through (though I didn't nurse Henry or Charlie). Anyway... Sorry I'm so chatty this a.m. Three cups of coffee will do that to you! Hope everyone is having a beautiful Sunday!!

stephanie, i feel the same way abt the chemicals....my mom has ms and so do sooo many women her age....could those chemicals be the cause? i dont know but im not taking a chance. good luck w/ the walk & abs....hope the ankle holds up!
lol at dhs nipples! oh the pain ive had!:p

g's party was great. need to finish nursemax and make her bday dinner request....steak & mashed potatoes! mama raised her girl right!;):p

Hi ladies--

I've hit another of my weight plateaus and am beginning to see a pattern here....ugh, it is so slow....

I haven't been down in a couple of days. I did disk 8 on Friday and Amy Bento's ASC3 Saturday (3rd time this week) I finally have 1-4 down, but I'm struggling with combo 5 (the four corners thing).

Last night I slept on the couch(feeling extremely sulky and put out and thinking very unChristlike thoughts) because the neighbors were partying again and dh called the police because they were fighting in the street again. So, my lower back hurts today and I think I'm going to have to skip tomorrow's workout:mad:. I may have to take the whole week off from cardio, but I'm determined to lift. I think I'll avoid the dead lifts.

Filed our taxes today, so that's done. Whew!

Stephanie--hurray on the thyroid test. That must be a huge relief. I found ab circuits to be really hard and I have a hard time working in core work because by the end of my hour, the kiddos are getting squirrelly. Anyway, she does lots of creative stuff--let me know what you think.

Kate--I'd love to see the penguin cake. I love doing fun stuff with food. I haven't worked with fondant, yet, but I'd love too. Gum paste looks really pretty too. I have no idea what it tastes like....my Isabella has requested ribs and potatoes for her birthday. mmmmm we rarely eat like that.

Becky--that Amy Bento kick box workout is on my wish list. I really find myself reaching for her more than Cathe now for cardio. I think because it's all more new to me. I really want Cathe to put out some new fresh cardio--step, kick box, I don't really care.

Lisa--sorry you feel sick. Enjoy your new highlights! I finally got my hair done yesterday and it was about time.

Wendy--I totally relate about feeling like a fit person on the inside! I feel thinner than I am. When I was young and thin, I always felt fat and now it's the opposite. I hate getting a glimpse in the mirror--I looked so fat at the hairdressers yesterday. sigh.

Candra--congrats on the run!

Hi everyone else!

Maggie:)

Maggie--Maybe your plateaus aren't plateaus at all but muscle gain. You've been working hard at STS and I bet you've just got some muscle swell. I'm sure you look great!

I went shopping with mom and sis yesterday and it was VERY daunting trying on clothes. XL tops and size 14 pants. :( So what did I do this weekend as a result? Eat. I never ever was an emotional eater before I had kids. Oh well. We'll all lose the weight in time. Mine may be a little slower, but so be it. Today I didn't get a workout in because I didn't have time. Between Oliver's homework and washing and trimming the dog (blech), I lost track of the day. Anyway, TOMORROW is "new diet Monday." And I hope I will workout too. All of this Amy Bento talk gave me a great idea! I may not be up for running or stepping right now, but I think I definitely could get a Cathe kick box workout in! :) Quite frankly, I'm scared of the step. I don't know when I'll be ready to do that again. That fall was pretty traumatic. You guys probably think I"m a weenie, but I still cringe when I think about it and the "pop" my ankle made as I fell.

Anyway, hope everyone has a good evening!!

Hi ladies. I didn't think I'd be able to workout today. I woke up EXTREMELY sore and sick feeling. I think I was sore from the hardcore STS followed by Amy Bento yesterday. The sick feeling I think was serious hunger. I woke up at 8am, when I normally wake up at 5 or 5:30. Those 3 hours evidently make a big difference in a breastfeeding mom!

I did STS disc 7 and med ball abs today. Holy pushups! I had to do them on my knees. I just can't do straight leg ones yet.

Kate, yum about the steak and mashed potatoes! Love me some steak!

Stephanie, did you give your DH some lanolin? haha. Do you think he has shin splints? It could be tendonitis...which is an overuse injury. Have him rest it for a week or so and take some Motrin...it is an anti-inflammatory.

Maggie, great job on the taxes. You must get the kickboxing workout. It is super intense! I will probably get ASC3 after we move.

Have a great night!

Becky

Kate/Steph - I don't like the use of chemicals either that's why I do highlights because the chemicals never touch your scalp like when coloring. My mil colors her hair all the time and so does my mom. It must be a generational thing. Anyway, I do highlights twice a year at the most and like that it doesn't touch my scalp. That might be an alternative for you guys. Not the same as going a whole different color, but a compromise.

Maggie - I totally have to get around to my taxes. I've been so good at procrastinating lately. Don't worry about the plateau, you'll get there. I hit those every few weeks also. Mine are every 5lbs. I lose 5lbs then it seems like forever for the weight to come off after that last five.

Steph - I had a 30% off coupon for Gap, Old Navy, and Banana Republic but couldn't bring myself to shop knowing I have more weight to lose.

Kate - Oooh the cake sounds so cute! I am also on board to see pics of it when you get your new laptop going!

Becky - Just reading about your workouts make me tired, lol! What's the secret to all that energy?

Candra - Hope Ryder is feeling tons better. Great job on the run.

Wendy - You sold me on the indie. I so want one!!

Okay, so I finally got to workout two days in a row. Yesterday was Jillian Michaels and today was 4DS HIS plus abs. I finally felt better yesterday so I snuck in a workout. My poor baby got a fever and I thought she was going to get sick but she literally only had it for two hours and then it was gone after some tylenol. She has not pooped in two days and today makes three so I am not looking forward to what's in store when she finally poops. I somehow get stuck with those lovely big, stinky poops instead of DH. Anyway, DH is playing basketball and won't be home until late so I have night duty with the kids. Time to usher them off to bed.
