Maybe it would make more sense like this:

S-e-v-e-n is 5, f-i-v-e is 4 and 4 is the magic number.

T-e-n is 3, t-h-r-e-e is 5, f-i-v-e is 4 and 4 is the magic number.

Got it?

I was VERY thrown off at first by Lorrie saying "am I really this out of touch?" That made me think it had to do with something in current events that I should know or something. When DH figured it out and told me, I realized that Lorrie's comment threw me way off track.

Amy, we didn't get it because the language was wrong. If the example said that five HAS four, we would have had it immediately. But five IS four is not an accurate statement, which can throw off a legal mind. Or maybe I'm just making excuses. :p

Or perhaps we over-analyze. Maybe that's the reason we lawyers had such a hard time - that and the fact that it came from high school students!
