Lurker's Invitation October Check In

Deborah, Congratulations on bulbmax! I think you should buy and plant 93 more. That's what I'd do.LOL:eek: You have to say you planted 20K! Enjoy your day off with the kids. Which one did you pick for the ride? Hope the 4 days of travel will be good for you. Do you remember the Core Rhythm advertisements on TV? You move around doing the watuzie and any other form of moving those hips. That what they are, and I love it! I want more of them. Maybe I can trade some of my DVD's on VF. Hmmmm.

Laura, Glad you did legs and back. You are such a trooper. Good for you. Snowing? Already? Jeesh. Enjoy your night out. I'll try looking at your pictures. I bet they are great!

I haven't posted an invitation for Lurkers in awhile. Do you think I should?

Shoegal, Big parties like that for me are always a huge cleanup. If you had fun, then it was worth it. It sounds like you did, and the weather was good enough, So glad to hear that. I don't know why people do that to a host. They should be punished. LOL. Being a host is a lot of work and you would think people would know that by now. Vent all you like, we are here.

I do sometimes feel I'm missing out on some DVD's. In fact I know I am. Wish I had enough money to purchase all I want. Oh, well.

Will be doing Muscle Max today. Oh boy.

Janie

Ok- Back again.

DH wants to pull out the boat today - I'm actually dreading that - but I think I ought to think positively. Putting down the mast takes so much time though.

Shadowpup: I'm glad you got some rest and isn't it nice to have some time to spend elsewhere in the house?? I feel that way about the bathroom - It's done, it's done!!! Now I can relax and enjoy how nice it looks. I was really looking forward to showing it off on Saturday and then forgot all about it!! Oh well - it makes me realize that something I thought was a complete eyesore didn't make an impression on anyone else. But it is also something that is just for me to enjoy really.

Michelle - What does the rotation have in store for you this week? You are so good at doing the GS and the S&H rotations - you make me want to explore those again. I really need to work on my strength - I usually prefer weight workouts to cardio but you wouldn't think so by the way I'm gravitating to those step workouts. I'm obsessed with the ASC III workout with Amy Bento - I love mastering those workouts. Our boat needs some srubbing - I'm amazed it gets that dirty just sitting there!!

Janie - I want to know what Core Rhythm Samba Fusion is too? Who is the instructor? Did you preorder Tracy Long's video? I saw you mention that on the Open Discussion Forum. I have to admit that I looked at the clips and was tempted - but I'm holding out right now. You have so much variety in your workout videos and you know so much about what else is out there - how do you keep up with it all?

I hope I get the boat done quickly so it won't be a struggle to get my workout in - as you may have guessed I'm going to do Amy Bento again.
Hope you all have a great day!!

Shoegal, Do enjoy your boat while you can, our weather will change to cold, snow, stormy and icy anytime now.

Samba Fusion is one of many infomercial workouts from "Core Rhythms. The creators and instructors are famous latin dancers. Julia Powers and Jaana Kunitz. I haven't yet ordered Tracy Long's yet, but I will, just want the hipe out of the way first.

I'm called a vidmeaniac or vidiot. It could be one of many hobbies. LOL:rolleyes:. I think I might be obssesed. I love knowing that I have any great DVD that I could possibly want at my fingertips. Most are want to do's, but I literally do many for variety. I can honestly say I'm not bored working out. I sell some on ebay, and figured recently how to trade on VF. I go from intermediate to avanced all the time. I guess that's why I'm in-between the two levels. I don't know how I keep them streight.

To each her/his own I guess.;)

Janie

Shoegal--Glad you had the bonfire. I think your frustration with people RSVPing is probably common. Folks should just say yea or nay so you can plan, but I think sometimes I think they are afraid they will hurt your feelings if they just say they are not able to attend. Go figure. Putting up the boat for the year is never fun and it is alot of work. We've been slowly bring home clothes, towels, etc. all this month. I wash everything, store away, and then take stuff back in the spring. So much fun.

Shadowpup: Wow, that's alot of bulbs. Will they all come up in the spring? That's going to be quite a cascade of color.

This is the last week on Cathe's April 2009 rotation. It's a combination of moderate to havey strength training and cardio. Today was pyramid lower body. The good news is that my back feels about as good as new. PLB is one of those workouts I don't do much when left to my own decision-making, so doing this rotation has been good because I've decided I really do like PLB after all. How about that? Tomorrow is cardio and weights, wednesday is kick max, thursday is PUB and coremax segment 1, friday is PLB and 20 minutes of cardio, saturday is PUB and coremax segment 2.

For November, sister and I are going to do a rotation that I put together that uses 4 Day Split and Cross train express. This is a combination of Cathe’s Nov 2007 4 Day Split rotation and I’ve added cross train express in between weeks. For inquiring minds:

WEEK ONE:
Mon: High Intensity Step/Chest & Back
Tue: Kickbox/Legs & Core
Wed: Stretch max 1 and 2
Thurs: Low Intensity Step/Shoulders Calves & Core
Fri: Boot Camp/Bi & Tri
Sat: Cardio of choice
Sun: OFF

WEEK TWO:
Mon: Power circuits, back and abs
Tue: 10-10-10 and triceps
Wed: Kickbox and biceps
Thurs: Step and intervals/chest
Fri: All step and abs
Sat: Leaner legs
Sun: Off

WEEK THREE:
Mon: High Intensity Step/Chest & Back
Tues: Kickbox/Legs & Core
Wed: Stretch max 2 and 3
Thurs: Low Intensity Step/Shoulders & Calves Core
Fri: Boot Camp Bi & Tri
Sat: Cardio of choice
Sun: OFF

WEEK FOUR:
Mon: Leaner legs
Tues: Step and intervals/chest
Wed: Power circuits, back and abs
Thurs: All Step and abs
Fri: 10-10-10 and triceps
Sat: Kickbox and biceps
Sun: Off

We'll see how that goes next month. We'd love to have others join us for the rotation. Maybe I should post this on the rotation forum too.

Michelle, The last week of Cathe's rotation sounds so cool. Hope you take an active week off before you start the November rotation. At least 2 or 3 days, so your muscles can mend and be able to start fresh. I'm so very proud of you for working out consistently and even enjoying it. You Rock!

Would love to join you on this rotation. When Joey gets home, he could even join me. Hope so anyway, or I may have to change things around for his sake. You know men.;)

You should definitely post this on the rotation forum. Great job creating this!

Janie

Good afternoon everyone. This morning was one of my favorite workouts: Cardio and Weights. I studied my log last night for each weight circuit so I was mentally ready this morning. I also found that I needed to put my weight lifting gloves on for each circuit, so I just paused the dvd player so I could do that. Otherwise, my hands were just to sweaty. Then I paused the player again, took the gloves off, and did the cardio. Having the gloves made a huge difference. Ripken joined me on the floor for the ab work. Gave me a good licking and then sat next to me and watched intently as I did the work. Such a goof ball pup.

Janie: Sister and I have gotten into doing rotations versus picking a workout each day. It's kind of nice to have that decision taken care of, then you can just start to mentally prepare for the workout. We'll see how this one turns out. I've been wanting to concentrate on the 4DS and Cross Train Express workouts for a while, but you know there are just so many Cathes and so little time. Hope you join us.

Hi all -

DH & I took the boat out. Surprisingly - we only fought once!! It grew dark rather quickly but the moon was out so it wasn't pitch black. I was sort of enjoying the evening - I would look up into the night sky and peer at all the stars - it was quite beautiful. It took us 2 hours or so to take the boat out and put the mast down. I got home and put on Amy's ASC III and ran out of enthusiasm for it pretty quickly - so I stopped it - I thought if I really don't want to do it this bad - my body must be telling me something. Oh well - tonight is another night - and this time my routine won't be disrupted.

Michelle - I can see your point about having the workout planned for you takes the decision making process out of your hands. Sometimes I'm standing in front of my DVDs wondering what to do. I'm always been amazed at people planning & planning it out - I have never done it. I'd like a shot at your rotation. It looks great - I'd like to pick out my own cardio of choice.

Janie: The Samba Fusion sounds delightful - I think it would be fun to dance around as a workout - I love to dance and I like the dancier hi/low and step. I consider myself a vidiot too - but I never sell or trade anything - and I should though. All of my old Firm - none of which I do - some are too dear to me to part with - others I just can't imagine anyone wanting old VHS tapes. There are like 2 or 3 others I'd like to cut loose - maybe ebay is my answer. I've never done it - is it hard?

Gonna go - have some work to do - have a great day everyone.

Michelle, I would love not to think about which workout to do and when. I'm going to join you two. It will be fun!:p I like doing a variety of cardio, so I'll most likely be doing something different on those.;)

Shoegal, Love the vision of you boating and looking up at the stars. How wonderful that must have been.:)

I agree, I think your body is trying to tell you something. Guess what? I still play my beloved VHS's. I have a player that plays both DVD's and VHS's. Love it, Love it! Such variety, is a must for me.

Ebay is easy to do. They have great instructions, if I can do it, then anyone can.

Have a great evening, I'm going to get ready to watch "So You Think You Can Dance".

Hi I think I must have missed a day, so much posting has happened! Did I post on Monday??? I did my 3 classes; 2 pilates & one weight lifting. Today I taught my pilates class this morning and again I got some wonderful feedback from someone who has been coming to my classes for a couple of years now, she took some time to tell me how much I have helped her get into her body and explore new ways of moving in it. How much she thinks about things she has felt/experienced in the class throughout her day to day life. It was very nice because sometimes I wonder how much I can get across in a classroom environment verses private lessons. So that really made my day.

Shoegal: I hear you on the RSVPing edict. I can never get people to do it either, it used to make me so mad when doing the girl birthdays because I would need to know weeks ahead of time who was coming to know how many things to order for the gift bags, party favors and food. Those little items can really add up and I don't like ordering more than I need and not having enough is awful as well. Glad you had fun on the boat but sorry you missed your workout, gotta live life a little though!! You should do pilates, but again I recommend studio first DVD"S latter. Little changes/corrections in pilates makes all the difference in the world and no amount of DVD instruction can provide that for you.

Janey: I think I have that core rhythms. I never really got into it though, maybe I should give it another try. Is Joey home? Have you enjoyed your time alone?

Michelle: that rotation looks like fun! Wish I could join you but I am tied up with P90X until Christmas. I am on my rest week right now. I also like rotations a lot,not having to spend the energy and time every day figuring it out is huge since I have little time day to day as it is. However than sometimes I feel like I get tied down to the rotation as well.

Well this last week of Cathe's April 2009 rotation really works the lower body. Yesteray I was wondering why I was feeling my glutes so much--oh yeah, because Monday was Pyramid Lower Body. No break for the lower body with C&W yesterday and today was Kick Max. Love those standing leg drills. Must be the old dancer in me.

Shoegal: Well, you really cracked me up. Only 1 argument taking the boat out? That's pretty good for a new boating couple. Joe and I have been boating together for so long and our routine is pretty set when it comes to getting underway, docking, seasonal setup, and seasonal packup. It's usually on the maintenance stuff that we disagree on how to do things and disagreements pop up. So, you guys should declare victory on only having 1 argument. Well done. And I double Janie: ebay is easy. Go for it.

Laura: you stick with P90X. We've got STS coming on the first of the year. I already know I have a week in New Orleans in January for a conference--so I'm behind before I begin. I'm just hoping STS Cardio is out by then and I have travel fit in hand.

Janie: sister and I welcome you to the November rotation. Should be fun.

~michelle

Quite today on the forum~! It is a huge snow storm here in Co. We have over 2 feet already, we have been snowed in today and tomorrow as well most likely. Although I am not ready for this much snow it was nice to have a quite day at home. I did P90X stretch for the first time. It felt good and there are some pretty intense stretches in the routine that I really felt.

Michelle: I hope we have Shock Cardio as well by Jan. Any word on it's release yet? I haven't been spending as much time on the Cathe Nation so I am a little behind the news.

Yesterday was a quiet day here on our lurker forum.

Quick post: did Pyramid upper body today. Haven't gotten the core max workout in yet. Will try to do that this evening.

Lauara: 2 feet of snow! Crazy. If that happened here, everything would come to a screeching halt for 2-3 days. Fortunately, we are having lovely fall weather in Virginia right now. A little dreary today, but the temps are in the low 60s.

~michelle

Laura, It must be really nice to get wonderful feedback from your students. It's a positive sign that reflects back onto you. Good Job also with your workouts. Joey should be coming home next week sometime, just a few more days. Yes! I did enjoy the alone time, but I'm done now and want my Joey back.:)

Michelle,Sounds like you picked a great rotation for yourselves. You guys are doing such a great job. Can't wait to join you in Oct. with yours. You danced? Tell me about it, you have my ears perked up.:)

Laura, Snow has now begun? I would have my snowshoes out in no time and start playing. P90X stretches are great!

Michelle, Great workout. Have fun doing Core Max workout later on.

One of the classics are in order today. Don't know which one I'll do yet. Need my coffee intake and to digest breakfast first.;)

Have a great day everyone,

Janie

Yesterday was too too busy - didn't have a moment to post something. Sometimes we have some quiet times on this forum but we all come back again.

On Tuesday I went and did yet again - Amy's ASC III and got through it - did the 4th combo that I had been dying to master - and I was not perfect. Lots of little things going on in there and I couldn't pick it all up - sometimes I was all over the place, sometimes I caught on to something subtle - it's like a little puzzle to me.

Yesterday my back was hurting so I was thinking of doing something light so as not to aggravate it. I decided to do High Step Circuits. This workout always cons me into thinking that there are only 5 circuits based on the write up on the back. I quickly scan the back & it has 1 through 5 listed. That sells me on it but I realize near the end that there is too much time left for there only to be 5 cirucits - I grab the case and read the fine print to discover that there are 6 circuits. I always need to know what is going on in the workouts so I can gauge what I'm doing. This is supposed to be a beginner or intermediate workout - but I think a true beginner would be blown away and really sore. It easily lends itself to making it a more advanced workout so I felt good about it.

I discovered today that my DH will be traveling on Saturday - bummer. I am wondering what I'm gonna do with myself all day? I'll find something. I'll probably be doing CLEANMAX - or do a workout - YES - that's it!!!

Michelle - is is okay that I join your rotation as well? I think that sounds like fun - I would also like for the guesswork to be taken out of my workouts. Yes - some guy passed us at the marina and asked about something DH had rigged up to help us take the mast down and said that he usually sees an all out war going on between couples doing that - but that we appeared to be relatively calm. I suspect fights happen alot in the boating world.

Janie - Let us know what classic routine you did!!!

Laura - Geeze - snow!!!! I can't imagine it yet - I still have to put my outdoor furniture away and clean up the garden. That would kill me but I also like the free time that snow affords. I've been paying attention to the blog and so forth looking for some clue as to when Shock Cardio will be released. They show lots of pictures of the filming - but say nothing about when. ???? I'd like to know.

Shadowpup - are you out there? We are missing you here.

Ok - gonna run - DH and I are trying to finalize our Halloween costumes. Turns out DH is all particular about it - who knew??

Hi all, just drove back home after a few days on travel! But alas, I have some rotten flu. It was not a fun drive, from rest stop to rest stop for four hours ... However, I made it and now it is time for a long nap. Hope all of you are doing well :)

Nice to have everyone back on the forums! Yep still snowed in with close to 3 feet of snow out there. HOLY MOLEY! I think this will be here until the summer...

Any way my low back has been achey and teaky for a few days. Haven't had back pain in so long, forgot what a bummer it can be. Also have a strange abdominal pain going on in the mid-right side, very strange, it is intermittent but when it hits it is pretty sharp and intense. Hope it isn't something serious like my appendix or a gallstone...:(

I did Kenpo X today and otherwise have been very lazy and eating way to much....difficult for me to be home and had all this pumpkins to make stuff with so made yummy pumpkin bread, pumpkin soup, roasted pumpkin seeds...

Janey: So what classic did you do? Are those classics Cathe's? Enjoy Joey when he gets home..

Michelle: VA sounds really nice right about now! Yes totally crazy weather....

Shoegal: Circuits are really good at blasting those calories! I need to do a good circuit to compensate for all the eating I am doing being stuck inside...

Shadowpup: OH NO! I am so sorry you are sick again, sounds like it is a pretty bad one, you get in bed, drink some chicken broth and DON"T WORKOUT OR PLANT BULBS, until you are feeling better you hear!!! I know it is hard for you to slow down but you will get better so much faster if you do and then you will be back on your feet in no time!! {I think a little of my momma hen energy just burst out of me!}

Shoegal, Good going on the 2nd Amy. A puzzle to solve no doubt. You'll do it, you are so close. I love High Step Circuit. I haven't read the back, now I must. LOL;) Don't get me started on CLEANMAX, I have too much to do before Joey comes home plus that. I have a few necklaces I need to make for a vendor in town to sell for me during the Christmas season. They need to be done by Mon. Then CLEANMAX for Joey before he gets home, by Wed.? Did Step Jam and loved every minute of it. Sweatfest! I'll do the treadmill with Sean today. What are your costumes for Halloween?

Deborah, Oh, that is so sad. Please get well soon. Remember, lots of rest and liquids...

Laura, That's a lot of snow! Do stay warm. Get yourself to the doctor, if it is your appendix, I hear you shouldn't wait at all. So get in there! Please. You did Kenpo X with a side ach? How? I love food made with pumpkin. Yummy!

You all stay warm, continue to exercise/get well and have a great day.

Janie

Hey everyone!! Happy Halloween (a day early!)

Laura - I want to know what your girls are being for Halloween - I was thinking about that yesterday and thought - gee I didn't ask! How do you trick or treat in 3 feet of snow, I wonder?!! I don't imagine they do that around your house since you are out of the way (no one does at mine :()- but do you take them somewhere else?? I hope your strange pain is nothing serious and take good care of your back - rest it - put ice on it - I agree - it is a major bummer!!! I deal with it daily - and when I feel good I'm shocked and surprised. Isn't that sad!!

Janie - untraditionally DH and I have a party - so we are in fact dressing up!! It has evolved actually - from Rex being Walker, Texas Ranger (he has a definite Chuck Norris look to him - it is probably the beard) and I was going as Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. It is quite funny because neither one of us have ever seen these shows. Now we are going as Harry Potter & Hermonie (is that how you spell it?) I thought this was going to be easy but we just spent a most unpleasant evening looking for matching ties that were cheap enough - turns out DH is a stickler for the authenticity of the costume - this just really irks me. No one is going to question our outfits I tell him - and tell us that Harry Potter's robe has a hood - he thinks they will.

Shadowpup: So sorry about the flu - glad you made it home - I can imagine your trip back wasn't much fun at all. Well, rest, eat soup - sleep - and definitely don't work out or plant bulbs - you need your strength. I'm glad you are back and I'm sure your kids are glad too!

Michelle - what does the weekend have in store for you?? Does the rotation start on Sunday??? I don't want to miss out. Any Halloween plans? Does Ripken dress up??? I used to put costumes on Indy but Scout & Dot usually don't - in fact, DH doesn't even like the seasonal handkercheifs I put around their necks!

Well - again - Happy Halloween!!!:D

Ripken will be dressing up in his favorite costume this Holloween: a golden retriever. Obviously, we don't believe in doing Holloween costumes on dogs. It just doesn't seem right to me. Plus Ripken is so darn handsome in his natural outfit. The most dressing up Ripken does is a bandana around the neck. I might have an old Holloween one in his bag. We don't have any plans for Holloween other than being down at the boat. We don't get trick or treaters at the marina, so we don't have to get candy this year which is fine by my waistline.

This morning I did Pyramid Lower Body. Boy--I'm not sure how much my lower body is going to love me tomorrow. This last week of the April 09 rotation has been heavy on the lower body. And right toward the end of the side thigh raises on the ball, my dvd stuck. So, that was annoying. I was almost done, so I finished the exercise, stopped the dvd, restarted, went to chapters, and pulled up the stretch. I wiped the dvd down with a clean cloth and I hope that resolves the issue. I'll check it later to see.

Laura: I imagine that 3 feet of snow might put a damper on Holloween activities out there. That's too bad if it does. But aren't ya'll kind of used to getting alot of snow (maybe not this early)?

Shoegal: sister and I are starting the rotation on Monday. The more the merrier. Very cute idea to dress up as Harry and Hermione. I think the tie color is potentially important (gold and orange stripes I think). Otherwise, you might be mistaken for characters from another house and not Griffendore.

Shadowpup: sorry to hear that you are under the weather again. That's the problem with traveling on the job. It's seems to increase the probability of getting sick. What a bummer. Rest up this weekend.

Janie: love Cathe's classic dvd. What was exercise today?

~michelle

Laura, you were absolutely right. Chicken soup, sleep, and ... sigh ... no planting or working out. I slept the clock around! Thanks for sending the momma hen energy this way :) Three feet of snow ... brrr.... we are getting a few flakes periodically, but nothing that sticks. Yet. Hope you are watching that pain in the side. Harder to get to the doc when you are in deep snow.

All, I'm starting to feel like myself again, and am totally and utterly fed up with lying around. There's too much to do!!!!:mad::mad: And I'm supposed to travel on Monday again, so it's doubly important to rest up now. SIGH :mad: I'll admit, I peaked at the forum yesterday and decided you'd all chide me if I sat up and typed much, or tried to work out, so I went back to bed

Michelle, Ripkin will look glorious as himself! He can be the hero of Koonz's Watchers. Have you read that? Scary book, but the golden retriever in it is phenomenal.

Shoegal, if it were Tolkein you were using, I'd be the one out there muttering to myself about whether there were hoods or hats on Gandalf's cloak :eek::eek: Hope you found the tie. The school colors are the thing. But most people will just be impressed that you have matching costumes and then they will want to show off the ones they are wearing themselves, so you are both right :D

Janie, I saw you over on the VideoFit site, starting up more lurkers! That's such a terrific idea and you are so great for helping people get involved. Joey is coming back Wednesday? Great!!!! I'll be curious how you and Michelle enjoy the November rotation. Sounds intense.

Yes, well, ... it was a rotten trip back. But it was my husband's birthday yesterday, so I really needed to! I actually attempted baking a carrot cake, and it turned out well. Used six cups of carrots, a cup of raisins, two apples, and spiked it with Captain Morgan. That last ingredient made up for any lack of experience in the baker, he said. But I think it tasted good.

And the kids were definitely excited! It's fun to come back to that. There was considerable tearing around in the pastures, kicking heels up, manes and tails all floating around - Picante just looks absolutely spectacular when he plays "Wild Horse of The Pacific Northwest". Imagine a dark mahogany (and somewhat muddy and fuzzy) version of The Black Stallion, pelting around as fast as he can go, and periodically just leaping up into the air and snorting, and you'll get the picture. Sierra the kid horse clearly thought he needed more nose petting and rubs, and even stepped away from his hay to collect up. He loves to run too, and since he's smaller, he's always rearing upwards to try and elvel the playing field. Atreides is pining for a ride, and I'm really thinking it would be fun this weekend to try it, if my stomach will settle a little more. He has the gentlest stride. Soon the ground will be too soft to ride on, and then we will have to wait until we get a solid freeze with snow for traction. And the dogs were absolutely beside themselves, wanting me to go plant bulbs in the woods again ... very disappointed that we didn't go ... and the cats took turns ignoring me from within a few feet while my husband was watching. The cat who owns me insisted I carry her around when his back was turned ... and was curled up on top of me while I was napping. But of course cats doesn't care about people.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
