Lurker's Invitation October Check In

Happy Halloween!

Shoegal, It sounds like you both are going to have such a great time. I haven't been to a Halloween party it seems for centuries. LOL HAVE FUN! You deserve it. Did your Harry Potter get a hood?LOL

Michelle, I did the treadmill yesterday using Sean (ooo la la). Today is cleanmax and just finishing up on the pearl necklaces in hopes I can sell them over the holidays. We'll see.

How is the weather for boating during this Halloween day. Hope it's a full moon for you all. How fun, perhaps you can get some glow in the dark sticks and hang them around just for fun. It could be romantic.;) I laughed out loud thinking Ripkin as a golden retriever. :D Great job on the workout even though you had a little technical difficulty there. By the way, will you be starting the rotation Sunday (tomorrow) or Monday? Want to start with you at the same time.

Deborah, So glad you are on the mend. Nasty Nasty stuff, I know. Too bad you have to travel so soon. Hope you get enough rest.

Yes, I do have another Lurker group. I couldn't help myself. This one was such a great success and all. Wanted to reach out to people that are shy... I registered awhile back but never posted that much until recently. I guess I was a lurker there for guite some time and decided I wanted to know more about them. Hence another Lurker Group. I can't belive the luck I have meeting such wonderful folks that have the same fitness problems and hopes/desires as I do. Such a relief to be able to talk about it, especillay when there is no one here in our neighborhood who has anyinterest in that sort of thing what so ever.

Tell your hubby Happy Birthday for me. I bet he enjoyed the cake you baked just for him.

Awe, your animals missed you. How endearing it is to read how much they love you and you them. They all sound magnificent! If I were an animal, I would love to live there. Wait a minute, I'm not, but still would love to live there, with all that attention. LOL:rolleyes: Life there seems good for you. Enjoy.

Talk again later,

Janie

Shadowpup: I love hearing about the kids. They obviously love their mommy. I'll have to go looking for the Koontz story. I have all the Trixie Koontz books--love to pull them out and go through them with Ripken at Christmas.

Just got done with today's workout: PUB and core max segment 2. Doing core max after PUB is something else, particularly since PUB has those dang inverted pikes on the ball and core max 2 also has more inverted pikes on the ball. Fun, fun, fun.

Obviously, we did not go over to the boat. DH slept in and the weather is cloudy, drizzly, rain, and wind--but at least its warm. So we will hang here today. Had to run out to get trick or treat candy. It's supposed to potential be raining pretty good tonight so we might only get our Circle children. DH is already eyeing the reees's peanut butter cups and the twix.

Just got the lunch call==be back later.

Lunch is done--yummy chicken cordon bleu sandwich and pear slices.

Janie: was that workout you did yesterday Sean T? Isn't he the INSANITY guy? One of the Marines I work with is doing INSANITY--I think he is on the second week. Since we didn't go over to the boat, I didn't a little cleaning around the house this morning as well. Seems like there is always something to vacuum, dust, or scrub.

Laura: let us know how Holloween goes in the snow. DH and I were talking about all the snow you've gotten this morning. He claims that he went trick or treating in the snow as a youngster in WVA. I can remember it being cold, but not snowy (even when we lived in NY). Ive raked leaves twice and there are still more to do? Have your leaves fallen on top of the snow? Makes it hard to rake leaves, that's for sure.

Okay--time to hit the shower.

Michelle, those sandwiches sounds wonderful! Oh PUB! Can't do those Pikes yet, but I'm working on them LOL. Great job.

We have the same weather here as well. Inside jobs today. Hope you have fun with the trick or treaters. I don't have any candy here. We are so far away from everyone. Thank goodness.

I did Sean O'Mally with Cardio Coach. But, guess what? I just now bought Insanity by Shaun T, with 10 DVD's and extras! (Jumping up and down being crazy!) It was on sale for only $79.00 at Amazon. I figure this could be my Christmas present this year. I know, I'm INSANE!

Continuing with cleanmax...

Forgot to posts yeserday, which was Core Synergistics from P90X, a DVD for part of the rest week, but let me tell you know that is one hard workout!:( Sure didn't feel like a rest at all, and then P90X Yoga today. And man, I was sweating and shaking all over, again not feeling the rest at all!;)I also got extremely light headed a few times and had to come out of the poses early, had a very 'whah-whah-whah' feeling and the blood rushing..weird never had that before...

I have been snowed in since Tuesday now! We were supposed to get out last night, my DH was going to snowmobile in and get us out, but he couldn't even get home on a snowmobile, he got stuck 5 times in less than a 1/4 mile. And that is extremely hard physical work to try to get a snowmobile unstuck by yourself. People to tend to think of snow mobling as a lazy activity but it is actually extremely active and difficult physically. When my DH goes out with his friends, and he is a STRONG guy, he comes back soaked through with sweat! Anyway we are getting dug out today by a backhoe! Thank Goodness, I am so ready to get out of here.

Lots of plans for Halloween tonight: a very wonderful halloween journey at the girls school which is one of my favorite events of the year, than Trick or Treating with friends in Boulder, than they will come home with daddy and I get to go dancing with two of my best girlfriends! So I actually need to run I will catch up on posts tomorrow!
Happy Halloween Everyone!
And if you are going out stay safe!

Janie, that's wonderful! I hope you like the set. It has been a fun one to add in, though I haven't tried a pure Insanity rotation myself ... So Merry Christmass and Happy Halloween all at once!

Laura, it seems so early to be snowed in! I hope it is not this bad all winter. What would we do without dozers???? Anyway, now that you're plowed out, you deserve all those fun activities. Hopefully that dizzy spell won't come back.

Michelle, it is so funny you ended up with Reese and Twix! My husband caved and bought Halloween candy, and that's exactly what he chose. We almost never get trick-or-treaters, so I am not sure why we need three bags???? The book I'm thinking of is by Dean Koontz, and while I don't like all of his (he gets intense), I like Watchers very much. Probably because of the hero-dog.

Today I have been doing a little of my normal routine, but gently and slower. For instance, I did Muscle Max but with reduced weights and fewer sets, even fewer than the timesaver version. Probably a half hour workout spread out over an hour, in the end. I'm still a little queasy, but nothing like the last three days. Also, I took Atreides out for a ride. He has really been sad and disappointed about being left in the pasture these past few days; the kids don't understand "flu".... Atreides was absolutely delighted, and insisted on doing a kind of victory lap (for being the chosen one) in front of the pastures ... very funny, how they get about that! It was a bit beyond me to take the other two out, though, and both Picante and Sierra complained (neighed) loudly while we were out. Our biggest border collie, Sam, decided to come along and we all three had a terrific time. We even crossed a scary little creek! It's all of three feet wide, but none of the kids like to step in the water. It's also marshy, and sloped, so the footing is legitimately something a horse could think twice about. Safe, but not easy. Still, today seemed right somehow. I did decide to get off, and lead in stages. That invokes the herd mentality of "follow the lead mare" and keeps us from getting into a battle over who is in charge of direction. I'd step forward a few paces, then call Atreides, tugging a little on the reins and letting go; he'd think about it, then step forward with his eyes a little bugged out ... then he'd relax, we'd stay there for awhile, and do it again. Maybe ten minutes for 20 feet. But you should have seen how proud he was of himself when we got all the way over! Definitely worth the effort. Next time will be easier.

Shoegal, I was reading about taking the mast down, and it sounds like you and DH are to be congratulated for getting that done without the usual huge series of fights! That counts as a successful start to your boat owning career. Let us know how the costumes went ... maybe pics?

Oops, dinner, better go - Happy Halloween, everyone!

I think all that precipitation from Colorado is now here in the mid-Atlantic. Fortunately, we are getting rain--no snow. Today is a break day--tomorrow sister and I start the 4DS-cross train express rotation that I posted last week. Hope some of you will join us along the way. I need to preview HIS later this afternoon to refresh my memory on the step routine.

Shadowpup: such great and funny horses. They like being ridden--or maybe they just love being with you. I've never read one of Dean Koontz's books. I assumed you were recommending one of the books that he wrote with his late golden retriever, Trixie. But it seems you were talking about one of his actual story books. I believe that I have all of the Trixie Koontz books--they make great short reads with Ripken. I don't know if he enjoys them as much as I do, but they are all written from a golden retriever's point of view, so I'm sure that he relates to them.;)

I have never read one of the Trixie Koonz books - sounds like I should! They sound fun, and perhaps good gifts for my sister in CA (they have a golden).

Probably I'd've never read a Koontz book at all if it had not been for Watchers and Lightening. Some of the others ...brrr... a litle too intense. Trixie may have been the golden he had when he wrote Watchers; as I recall he gave credit to his four legged family for the realism there.

Today, not sure what I'll do for a workout. I'm off again in the morning, til next weekend, and am trying not to overdo it ... but I'm really bored with taking it easy :mad::mad: ... hopefully our blue skies will stay long enough to get a short ride in, so as to make the jealous two who were left home yesterday happy. The ground is nearly too soft to be safe riding footing: equine outings may be limited to this weekend or whenever we get a true hard freeze!

No tricker-treaters last night. Not one. But, not a surprise. It's too far out of the way, and the only kids within a mile are either tiny or too old to enjoy it. Now we have all those Reese and Twix to deal with. Danger!

Hi to everyone else - hope that the costumes were a success, Shoegal, that the parties were fun, Laura, and Janie that you had a good time preparing for your Joey to return. Your other lurkers seem very happy and busy - that was such a kind thing you did for them, as for us :)

Hey, hope everyone had a fun Halloween! I had a great time with the family and then later with my girlfriends, stayed out until 3 am dancing:p! I am sore and tired today but feel good otherwise. I think I will take the day off though:D

Janey: wow you are brave to do Insanity! I may be wrong but I thought you avoided high impact polymetric exercise? Well I can't wait to hear what you think, I am 90% sure that will be my next purchase for after STS. I will wait to buy it, I think in about 6 months their will be more of them available secondhand by then.

Michelle: hope you are staying dry! Not fun to trick-or-treat in the rain I bet!

Shadowpup: sounds like you are better with your workouts and rides! Have a good trip!
