Lurker's Invitation October Check In

Michelle, I think I'm on the cuff of being a Baby Boomer for sure. LOL:rolleyes: I have to admit, I've also had boomeritis as you know but, I'll keep going whether it is an addiction or not.;) Can't be too healthy. Love the word for aches and pains.

Joey and I went to Disney World about 15 years ago. There are a couple more parks they added since then. It's always changing and getting bigger. They just bought more property lately, so I'm sure there will be more parks added soon enough.

I decided to do Callanetics instead of a rotation. You should seriously think about doing them as well. It's non-impact static exercises for the whole body. It eliminates pain and stress in the back. It was introduced by Callan Pinckney in the 1980's. That's where the Barre Method/Squeeze/Lotte Berk Method and other similar exercise programs came from. Now, she has updated the exercises and is called Callanetics Evolution. I don't have these new DVD's yet, but I'm getting them as soon as I can. The Old ones are just as good, but are dated. If interested, go to Ebay and you may find them there for a good price. I swear by these exercises, they have helped me tremendously during the years. Also Callanetics work as they claim and will help your lower back/hip/butt feel better and tighter. ;)

Shoegal, I bet your bathroom is lovely. Pictures?

Sounds like you had a fun time with your Mom, sisters, and Amy. Good for you!

Wish I could come to the Autum Bonfire too. Do tell us all about it.:)

LOL! You are such a hoot. Yes, I would say that during a hot sunny day, no one would lay out on those rocks. OUCH!

A few excuses why I'm not going to Vegas with Joey. I think it is a guy thing this time with computers involved. Joey builds them and Dan is waiting for his computer to arrive from Dad (Joey). Another reason, is Joey really isn't staying all that long for all of us and the animals (Little dog and two cats) to pack up and go for only a month. When we do that, we stay out for at least 2 or 3 months at a time. Just isn't working out this year as far as what we usually do. Too many family problems. But, next year, we'll catch up on all our traveling we missed this year. At least I hope so. We are planning a trip right after Christmas for a couple of months or so, it's just right around the corner.

I'll be doing Callanetics for 4 weeks or until Joey comes home. They are fantastic workouts and will really help with my self esteem. If I eat clean these next 4 weeks, I should be where I want, with the added addition of tight muscles. They make me have DOM's and they work fast! After that I want to have larger muscles, so I will then do weight lifting from Cathe's STS and STS Cardio series. Perhaps the STS Cardio series will be shipped by then, if not there are plenty of other cardios to do.

Hi to everyone else who follows, will talk again later.

Ok Let's see, yesterday was a needed rest day. We had people over for dinner Saturday and like Shoegal ate and drank to much! The girls didn't have school today due to Columbus day and I also didn't have my usual 2 evening classes, but still had my one at the private studio in Nederland. I also did P90X Yoga which is one mighty tough yoga workout! It is a hard one not to turn off after the first series of active poses! AND I LOVE YOGA. But I always end it feeling like it is something I should really do every week. IT IS NOT GENTLE RESTORATIVE YOGA THOUGH more like HELL YOGA! HA HA.:eek:So Probably not what you are looking for Michelle.

I don't have a bunch of yoga DVD's the ones I have I really like. I highly recommend any Rodney Yea. His technique, cueing and understanding of yoga is impeccable. I think you are looking for more restorative yoga, not athletic yoga to balance out your fitness routines. One I really like is AM/PM yoga by Giam which has Rodney Yee, Suzan Diason, and one other lady I don't remember who but it has 3 short routines in it that are very thorough, gentle and restorative.

Janey: loved the photos thanks for sharing them with us. You are all so beautiful. Disney does look like it has picked up it's game. You and your Dear Joey are doing the family rotation on alternating schedules!

Michelle: I love the boomeritis! I will have to check that interview out. I think your DH is right and to lay off the heavy duty exercise and weight lifting for the lower body to give your body time to repair and heal. Maybe an active rest week with lots of walking, low impact cardio like biking, and some mild stretching. Be careful not to over stretch yourself as well in case you have a torn muscle or something pushing to hard with stretching can do more harm than good.

Shoegal; well I thought that bathroom was already done! Is it finished now? Are you happy with it? A bonfire sounds like fun, we have a wonderful firepit we have hardly used this year.

as far as the weightlifting, my upper arms are getting bigger, clothes feeling tighter around the arm but really not showing that much more definition. I am not really the body type that is cut, shows definition but I don't want to keep building mass and not showing the muscle. I generally do the 12-15 reps but I actually read in a recent article in Women's Muscle that the medium range weights for 12 to 15 reps is actually what does build bulk. That low reps and heavy weighs improve strength not mass and low weights high reps, higher than 15, build endurance. Has any one else heard this as well? I know the fitness buzz out there is 12 -15 reps will build endurance but this article debunked that with research. I know there are a lot of fitness truths that get out there and are held as gospel but in a few years it gets' turned on it's head. I know they are now doing more research than ever with real, scientific studies in Universities that are really changing a lot of our held beliefs. Another study I just read saying unstable surfaces, such as boscu's or fitness balls do not actually 'turn on the core' and increase core strength at all. So I don't know what to think...I do know that my upper arms are a 1/2" larger and don't show that much more definition and that I don't want that....being a larger armed girl to begin with I don't want/need bulk...

Thanks for all the yoga suggestions. I've written them down so I can check them out on-line. I'm also going to look at the callenetics.

Took a break yesterday from exercise. My lower back and hip feel fine as long as I'm moving. Sitting down makes it so stiff. I'm sleeping great and bound right out of bed this morning with no soreness. Ripken and I had a great walk and then I did Pyramid upper body--no problem. Sat my butt down to eat breakfast, and I stiffen up. Drive in to work--ick. Sitting at the computer--I can feel my muscles tightening in my lower left back and hip. It's very strange.

Shoegal: your stories about the time your spend with your mom and sister make me want to go see mine. I'm the daughter who doesn't live within a 2 mile radius of my parents. Sometimes that is a good thing. But sometimes it would be nice to visit more often. We're all dying to see that new bathroom--but, who takes pictures of a bathroom, right?

Janie: the callenetics sounds intriguing. Sounds like you've got a good plan for getting your exercise and eating on track. But Joey is going to be gone for a whole month? That seems like a long time.

Laura: thanks for the yoga suggestions. I definitely don't want hell yoga. I've looked at P90X, but I just can't get excited about it. You seem to be having mixed feelings about the experience. I know some folks here at work swear by it. Apparently, there is a P90 that is more beginner/intermediate versus P90X which is intermediate/advanced. All the research on what works and what does what in exercise just gets me confused. I personally think that you have to figure out what works for you and gets you where you want to be (which could take a while to do) and then go with it. The important thing is that you are exercising and burning calories.

Laura, Sounds like you had an active weekend. P90X yoga for me is longer than I'd like and challenging for me as well. Love when it is over and know I did a great job.

Joey will be doing his exercises in Vegas and I'll be doing them at home. It's up to each of us to continue them. I decided to do Callanetics for 3 weeks until he gets home. When he get home, we are planning on using STS until January. Then off we go for a couple of months traveling. Will most certainly use the travel DVD of Cathe's.

Sometimes I have to ignore some of the info out there that concerns exercises. I do what works for my body, and get lots of info from Sid (who is a body builder, until he got sick). I do know you can trust Cathe and science journals/citations, that are not promoting anything, but just giving facts according to their findings. I also find that for me, if I don't eat as clean as possible, the muscles just won't show through my layer of fat. I'm confused as well with Women Muscle. What is the research that was mentioned?

Michelle, It is very strange how your muscles are reacting when you sit or relax. Seems you've given it enough time to subside, but it isn't. I think it's time to see a doctor. He could probably send you to a sports doctor.

While you are researching Callanetics, read about her story (Callan Pinckney). She was a ballerina, and her back on one side was higher than the other, to the point of a deformity. She went abroad and studied static exercises from a guru and was inspired to create her own exercises (first for herself) from what she learned and used it in her teaching classes. There's musch more of the story, but this is what I remember of it. I'll be doing the challenging one today. Oh, I did order both new Callanetic Evolution/Cardio yesterday. Can't wait to get them. The work you do with them are intermediate, but don't let that fool you. You are really working so much harder than you think, you won't know this until the DOMS come, which is very soon after.

Have a great day everyone, talk later.

Janie

Hello everyone -

Yesterday I forgot to mention that I was going to do my new Seasun Zieger workout: Rock Steady Step. Okay - I had high hopes of getting this the first time through - or at least most of it - not perfect but well enough that I felt good about it. No. She did what I thought was a warm up - but after we learned the first combo - she took it from the top - the very very very top - back to the combo we learned in the warmup???? I was a confused - who would go back and take us through the warm up combo again???:confused::confused: But I kept going - she likes to turn - she likes to do some dancey type stuff - not exactly step - but sort of dancing on top of the step. Onto what I thought was the second combo and she went fast - too fast for me - and I was definitely left behind. DAMN!!:mad::mad: I am really confident that I can learn all this - Seasun is a good cuer - and looking at the 2nd combo - I think it is completely doable - I have to put the time into learning. I really do like the challenge and I love learning. Sometimes after the learning is over - and you got the workout beat it isn't as fun as it once was. I know I probably shouldn't but - I might do this again tonight. One a side note - Seasun is really skinny!! Maybe too skinny.

I will take bathroom pictures - I just never think to do it. I like going in there though - and just . . . . . .looking. No more yellow - my DH said when he was painting the last of the yellow away the he was actually glad to see it go. He was sort of quiet about my color choice and didn't really express much of an opinion which was good. Quite frankly - I consider decorating the house to be my domain. I like a guy who doesn't want a say - up until now he has had opinions which I resented so maybe he is learning. He claims he should get to pick what goes on in his bathroom - it is probably nasty of me but I'm not on board with that. ;)

Looks as if will rain on my bonfire :( - everyone pray for clear skies.

Michelle: I'm not sure if this applies but in terms of my lower back issues - I was told my problems were all due to sitting way too much. That I should lay down whenever possible - something about tight hip flexors. I know exactly what you are talking about in terms of feeling tight - I have had other injuries that hurt after sitting for long periods and then stop when I got moving. I love spending time with my family - I'm glad they all live fairly close. I do live about an hour from them - but I drive in every Sunday or for anything we might be doing.

Janie - Callenetics - hmmm - she has been around a long, long time, right? I think my sister had a VHS workout of hers. I remember this tape distinctly because we all made fun of her opening - something about I'm not a celebrity, model, or movie star- I am a teacher. I also remember doing these hip rolls with her - those were tough!!! I wonder if we still have that tape - I'd like to revisit it. Wow - that was back in the 80's!! Wait a minute - I take that back - what I meant to say was that was just a few years ago - in the 80s. I'm sure this dates me!!!!

Laura - when you talk about doing P90x - I think I should run home and just try one. which one would you recommend? I've done a number of Rodney Yea tapes as well - always liked him. You also make me want to run home and check out what I have of his. I like any yoga tape that allows me to fall asleep on the floor after meditation. so no hell yoga for me either!!

Well - I've had quite a day - I went up to the Courthouse to deal with some issues concerning my notary commission. I had a hell of a time finding the Recorder of Deeds only to come back to my car to discover that I had a parking ticket. I thought nothing about the parking meter when I got out of the car - I just left. I don't know what I was thinking!!! Tomorrow I have jury duty. Hopefully it won't last all day - or longer.

Hope you all have a nice day!!! At least better than mine!

Hi Ladies. Today I had my beginner Pilates class at the Rec and then I stayed there and did P90X Chest & Back and the Ab ripper. And boy was I ever sore again from that hell yoga! Felt my core through everything today!

I have been cleaning the house again ever since I got home, well after I laid on the coach and watched last weeks episode of the Biggest Loser and ate my lunch:eek::eek::eek:, shhhh don't tell my DH! My mom comes tomorrow for a short visit, she has been in Spain and France and made a layover in Denver so she could see us. She will be here until Sunday. The house looks nice all clean and decorated for Halloween.

My husband called a little while ago saying he was 'on his way home right after he stops by the emergency room..." and this from a guy who thinks doctors is for wimps! It turns out my daughter Eliza was throwing a bone for a dog and the bone somehow hit her sister on the head. He said the bleeding stopped pretty quickly but he just wants to make sure she doesn't need stitches..ok I am breathing deep wondering how much blood it would take to make him even consider an emergency visit.....haven't heard anything for awhile..trying not to panic....

Janey: that sounds very interesting. I haven't heard of callenstics before. Let me know what you think.

Michelle: something is tickling my brain about injuries that hurt while inactive, but can't think of it just now. To worried about my Sophia I guess. Yes I agree with listening to our own bodies and I do think different body types respond differently to different styles of exercising. And actually today while working out I was noticing a lot more definition in my arms than I had before. So who knows....Yes there is a P90 as well. I think I am good with the X version though. I am curious what your coworkers say about it.

Shoegal: I hope it doesn't rain on your bonfire! What will you do? Move the party indoors or postpone it? As far as P90X for the cardio I would try the Plyo since you aren't a big fan of kickboxing, which would be the Kenpo, for weights....Legs and back. It is definitely a different style than Cathe or any other exercise DVD I have done with a lead female. Maybe see if your husband wants to do it with you.

This morning I did maximum intensity cardio--the warm-up, low impact segment and step--no medium or hi impact aerobics. Felt really good and had no problems. Sitting still makes me feel gimpy but I'm going to do a search on injuries that hurt while inactive and see what I can learn. I'm horrible about going to the doctor. Whatever I've got hurting seems to slowly be getting better, so I'm hoping to bypass a trip to the doctor.

Laura: sounds like you've got a bit of excitement going on today. Hopefully nothing serious--just one of the freak childhood accidents. Remember, he's at the emergency room and since your daughter probably needs a couple of stitches, it will be more of a wait than not. But let us know, just in case.

Shoegal: jury duty. Oh boy. Been there, done that. Actually sat a murder trial in federal district court once. Inmates killing inmates. That was interesting.

It's cold and dreary here. Ick. Supposed to rain and be on the cool side for the next 4-5 days. Double-ick. It's my birthday on Friday--I'm enjoying it rain or shine.

~michelle

Shoegal, You are an inspiration in staying on something until you do it. Seasun Zieger is one tough cookie. Good job!

Can't wait for the bathroom pictures. I bet the yellow is beautiful. Blue goes very well with yellow, but you probably already know this.

Callanetics have been around for a long long long long long time. Her opening was a hoot. LOL But, they work, and as I said, they are updates called Callanetics Evolution. Can't wait to get them, should be in the mail anytime now.

Sorry about the ticket, and jury duty...

Laura, P90X does that to ya, yes indeed. Great job!

Been cleaning my house too. I clean upholstery and carpets for the next few days. The kitties really did a number on one sofa, so I might as well do everything. Right?

Enjoy your mom and the decorations. That's so much fun!

Need an update on your daughters head. Did she need stitches?

I love the old Callanetics so, I ordered the new ones. Callanetics Evolution. Should be in the mail any day now.

Michelle, Sounds like you are on the mend. Thank goodness. Let us know how your research goes on inactive injuries.;)

Guess what? It's been non stop raining here, it's that time again. Time for lots and lots of hot tubing.

Have a great evening everyone.

Janie

Hello Lurkers -

Need to clarify my recent post on Rock Steady Step - she didn't actually do the combo warm up when she took it from the top. I did that again on Tuesday - and I did it pretty well. I got through everything but I'm not perfect with it. Seasun did the whole think on one platform - as well as the other exercisers - I did it on 8" and I didn't find it exhausting or anything. Must have been a good day. So - I still need to perfect the routines. She really does do a ton of "dancing" on the step - I think a little too much. This, however, wouldn't prevent me from getting another one of her workouts, though.

Jury Duty - alas I was not chosen. Actually - I'm glad I wasn't but I was called in and questioned & at the end of the day I was wondering why they didn't want me. Silly, I know. I got home fairly early and worked really hard in the garden until I got blisters. My hand was actually stinging and I had to put the clippers away and clean up. I couldn't find my gloves. My pups were out and about and they had a great, great day. I finished up in the garden, went shopping for the party and then returned and did Supersets. Like this one - I generally prefer total body weight workouts as opposed to splits. Not sure what I'll do tonight - maybe Seasun again.

I took bathroom pictures - but couldn't upload them onto my computer - forgot the disc!! DH wants to cancel the party. I'm not sure what I'll do yet - but if he doesn't want it then I'm also not sure if I have a choice. It is like the worst weekend in October weather wise - rain and snow!!

Laura - hope Sophia is alright - goodness - please let us know. Usually when children get hurt it looks a little worse than it is. Things like this always seem to happen. My sister threw a Tonka Truck at me - she put Comet Cleanser in my hair - and these things were on purpose! This was apparantly just a freak accident. Sounds like your husband kept his cool.

Janie - how do you post pictures into a post like you did with the Disney World pics? I actually got rid of the yellow in the bathroom -and if you remember - I painted it army green - or kacki - or what have you. When I post the pictures you can tell me what you think. Did you get the Callentics tapes yet?

Michelle - Tell me what you learn about injuries that hurt while inactive - I'd like to know myself. I'm also really bad about seeing the doctor. If anything hurts - I just sort of wait it out and hope it goes away. It usually does. Doing anything special for your birthday? In case I forget to tell you tomorrow - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :D Hope your day is a really good one.

Shadowpup - busy traveling??? We are missing you here.

Ok well - gonna go and see my DH - who is home tonight. I had some really good, full, active days while he was gone and didn't really miss him too too much but I'll be glad to see him.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHELE! HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT DAY TOMORROW!
So first of all Sophia is fine, although she did need 3 stitches on her head, right on the crown of her head, and yesterday she got glasses! So stitches and glasses in two days. It really makes them seem even less like twins than before, but I guess that is ok?

So I have been staying on the P90X rotation, but I am ready for a rest week which should be next week it is hard to do it with all my classes. And today while driving, which I did a lot of today (hours of in fact) my left hip flexor starting hurting really badly. I was in stop and go traffic in Boulder due to construction driving a clutch and every time I had to engage the clutch I got a pain in my hip flexor! UGH! And tonight was Ski Conditioning, which is heavy, heavy legs! I am not sure what happened it was a sudden on set. Although last night I did the Plyometrics, which is intense, right after my Pilates class which Pilates has tons of hip flexor work in it. Than Pilates again this morning...so who knows...I might take tomorrow off though to give it a chance to calm down.

Michelle: so what did you find out about injuries that hurt in rest or sitting? I still haven't remembered what I heard about that. You are a maniac to do MAXIMUM INTENSITY CARDIO while Gimpy! LOL! Use it or lose it I guess? I know I have noticed, here in maniac Boulder that those who get injuries but keeping moving stay fitter than those who get injuries and quit moving all together. Have a wonderful B-day tomorrow!

Janey: My mom will be glad to be here and not at home with that rain! Boulder was beautiful today and when my mom said that in the car my daughter said; "Welcome to the Boulder Lifestyle!" So cute the words from babes! What was your workout today? Did you get your DVDs?

Shoegal: you are one determined cookie! I have to hand it to you! You must really like that complicated step, maybe from your days as an instructor. I get so frustrated at the REC if I do anything at all interesting to me the class gets so completely lost. I have to keep the routine BASIC BASIC< YAWN≤ BASIC or they complain.....Try to upload the photos again after all that effort and energy we would love to see it! Do let us know about the party! Where do you live again??

Tomorrow I have 3 old mercury fillings redone at 9am. I hate dental work and then 3 clients in Boulder...another long day ahead....

Shoegal, Good job on the Rock Steady Step. 8", OMGosh! You are Wonder Woman.

Joey and I are always picked for Jury duty about twice a year for some reason or another. Never was a juror yet. So inconvenient especially when our life is so busy. We don't understand why we have notifications twice a year.

Fall Cleaning, haven't even started that yet. It needs it badly too. Next time wear your darn cloves girl.;) I know, once I get started, if I couldn't find my gloves I'd have done the same thing. LOL:rolleyes:

Whatever workout you do tonight, just enjoy. Sounds like Seasun is growing on you.

Aw, I hope the weather will cooperate for your party.

I use picturetrail.com to upload my pictures, then copy the url and paste it in the thread. It's free when you don't use a whole lot of pictures. After awhile I delete the albums I create and start over again. I guess you can also use photobucket, but haven't used that one.

I now do remember you used a different color than yellow. I'm so sorry about that. Where is my mind lately?

I got the Cardio Callanetics, but I have to tell you, it looks so darn easy. I hope I don't waist my time with it, but will give it a try anyway, because these exercises are decieving in the way as it sneaks up on ya. LOL

Michelle, Happy Birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy Birthday to Michelle, Happy Birthday to you. An many more.:D

What are you doing for your birthday?

Laura, So glad Sophia is doing well, got a little scared for her about her little incident. I bet she looks adorable with glasses. Pictures?

I sure hope your hip flexor gets better soon. Wonder why it hurt all of a sudden like that. Could it be too much exercises?

Yesterday I wanted to workout, but did 30 min. jog on the treadmill instead. Will create a rotation for myself today sometime. Then start it today as well. Still have a couple of hours to digest my breakfast.

Aw, your daughter is so cute. Babes, got ta love um.

Ok - bathroom pictures - these were the ones that picturetrail allowed me to upload - it said the others were too large. I don't know how to get them to open up in the post though. It is beyond me - I'm amazed I did this much. You have to appreciate the very yellow color it was before and the fact that he was using a handrail for a towel bar. It is an improvement for sure. It is just like a hallway - long like that.

DH is home - we went out to dinner last night - I was good with the food - but had 2 drinks :eek::eek: and when I came home I was awfully drousy and decided not to work out - but I will tonight. Haven't decided on anything still. I have to admit that I'm not feeling all up to par - hope this passes.

Party is rescheduled for the very next Saturday - DH was not going to have it in inclement weather  - he kept saying what are we going to do if we don't have a fire???? I don't know what he thinks one does at a party anyway??

Laura - Glad that Sophia is well - is this her first set of stiches?? Your mother sounds as if she is a jetsetter!! I hope that you have fun with her - how often do you get to see one another? Actually I have to agree with you - my students hated anything difficult or too complicated. One class wanted to do the same routine every single class!!! By the end of 6 weeks some of the students still couldn't get it down - and I'm talking very very basic hi/lo - step touches - grapevines - etc. Grapevines - they would throw some people all off. LOL I always said that aerobics is a listening exercise - I say it - you do it - that's it. Not really that simple, is it?

Janie - I worry about new tapes being too easy - it is a big turn off for me. I stopped buying Firm because it was all way too easy and I didn't want to waste my time. Hopefully the new Callentics is just deceptively simple looking. I did Picturetrail - not sure if I really know what i'm doing there - but I did manage to get the photos up - so that is a good thing.

Michelle - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! Hope everything is well with you - let us know what you did on your day. Did Joe take you out? Ripken get you any thing??? Hope your day is a happy one - and this is one of your best birthdays yet.

Well - going to go - I think I'll lie down when I get home.

Happy Friday everyone and thanks for the birthday wishes. I took the day OFF! Yeah! Slept in, walked Ripken, had breakfast and did my workout. Today was PLB and the step portion of BodyMax 2. So far so good on my left lower back--took it easy with the PLB especially the floor work with the stability ball.

Joe and Ripken got me 2 pairs of platemates for my birthday--exactly what I wanted.:) And my sister sent me a Cathe gift certificate.;) Tonight we are going out to eat at the Outback. Joe wanted to take me to a restaurant in Fredericksburg, but Outback is right here in North Stafford and I love their salads and steamed veggies. A big ol' steak sounds good too.

Laura: hmmm, another gimpy girl among us. Try a good stretch. I found that frequent stretching through the day really helped with the soreness that I had in my lower back this past week. Glad Sophia is okay. It will be one of those stories she tells when she grows up: Mom, remember when....?

Shogal: the bathroom looks great. Our weather is yucky here too in Virginia. Supposed to last through the weekend. We bagged going to the boat. Just didn't seem that enticing: cool, wet, and windy. An 8 inch step? Wow! I'm impressed.

Janie: Let us know about your new workouts. I'm going to spend some time today checking out information about callenetics and some of the yoga dvds ya'll suggested.

Having a great birthday--hugs to all of you for my happy birthday wishes.
Michelle

Shoegal, Love the bathroom pics. Also love the colors you picked out to bring it to life. Good job.

I use regular uploading from picturetrail. When I use the new version, I also get pictures that are too large. To get them showing on the forum, do this: Once you are in picturetrail, pick from above "Image URL's". When you see the pictures, you uploaded, choose "Forums tag: and click on it. Then copy and paste onto this forum. After you paste one on this forum, save and refresh, then go back and do it again for all the pictures you want to share. A little inconvenient but doable.

Sometimes I don't feel up to par either, it passes. What workout are you doing tonight?

So glad you decided to have the party. Just enjoy!:p

Have to tell ya, I was very disappointed with the Cardio Callanetics. Except for the toning part. What a waste of money and time. When I get the other one, I'll let you know how that goes as well. :o

Michelle, Sounds like you are really enjoying your birthday and birthday dinner. YEAH! Great workout by the way.

Don't bother with Cardio Callanetics. Waste of time and money. They were less than beginners tapes. UG! Hopefully the Evolution one will be much much better. A person can only hope.

Continue to have a great birthday.

I did Cardio Callanetics today, and that just wasn't good. In just a few minutes here, I'll be doing The firm Jiggle buns and abs. About an hour of exercises that I know are good.

Just got done doing Pyramid Upper Body and the no equipment ab workout from Ab Circuits. A little later than I wanted to exercise today, but a kid was going to fast in his mustage on the road coming down to our development, skidded in the rain, jumped the curb, and hit the electric transformer. No electricity for only a couple of hours, but did put a little crimp in my schedule of activities. Wonder if the power company will send the kid the bill for fixing the transformer. That might slow him down a little.

Had a great birthday yesterday. Dinner was great last night. Had the ribeye steak--which meant some leftovers for Ripken's breakfast this morning.

Cleaned out one closet, a filing cabinet, and a chest of drawers while the electricity was out. Threw some stuff away, had papers to shred (done now), and added to the Goodwill pile.

Now it's time for a shower. VaTech plays at 6 pm tonight on ESPN2. So, you know where I will be.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday. And thanks for the tip on the callenetics Janies. Sorry you wasted your money though.

Hi all, got back last night about midnight ... and am back to planting bulbs like a crazy person! It is nice to be home.

Picante update: he's doing much, much better! Very relieved. Neither of the other boys appears sick. I won't know til Monday whether the disease is spreading in our region, or if it has halted.

Workouts: not too bad, considering it was travel. One hotel's workout room was open ten to six. What's up with that??? That's business hours :( Another didn't have a room at all. But, fortunately, my TRX is starting to be more and more useful. It looks like Cathe has a neat new offer that will help make workouts more portable, too!

More personals later, but for now ...

Michelle, happy birthday!

Janie, welcome home!

And Shoegal, goodness, looks as though you have been doing quite the step workouts.

Laura, did I read correctly that you have a sprain? I will need to check.

Hope to be back online tonight, and I hope you're all having a great weekend.

So I did take of Friday, and then today I did Friday's workout which is the Kenpo. I babied the kicks, keeping them low and safe. Last night I went to a friends' house and soaked in her hot tub and my hip flexor was better today.

Janey: how disappointing for you! All the excitement of a new DVD and then to not like it! BIG BUMMER! I hope the next one is better, but if not there is always ebay.

Shoegal: Great bathroom! I love the color. I hope the party goes well next weekend and the weather is better. We had the most beautiful fall day here with vibrant blue skies and very warm, took my mom, the girls and Maggie for a walk to enjoy it.

Michelle: glad you had a good birthday. It seems like you are picking up your exercise time, doing more than one a day? A little cardio in addition to the wieghts? Is that part of the rotation you are doing? How do you like it?

Shadowpup: welcome home! Glad you big boy is better! Are you referring to the travel DVD cathe is doing? When are those supposed to come out anyways? Sometime this fall right?

Michelle, Kids should really be more aware of their driving. So glad no one got hurt! Great workouts!

Yummmm, sounds like a great birthday dinner. Awww, Ripkin will enjoy his breakfast for sure.

You've reminded me of all the stuff I need to clean!

Enjoy VaTech, and have a great evening.

Deborah, looking forward to your posts, and so glad you are home sweet home. Still planting bulbs, you go girl! What a relief to hear that Picante will be OK. Whew! I hope the disease has halted. Fingers crossed.

Laura, You baby those kicks anytime you like as long as you are safe and when ready for stronger kicks. Still a great workout. I know the hot tub will help with muscles, aches and pains. Glad your flexor is better.

I'm disappointed again with the Callanetic Evolution as well. Same sort of stuff, the only new exercises are common stretches that they hold for 20 seconds. I wasted almost $40.00 Usually I do lots of research before I buy, but since I love her old stuff, I bought blindly. They only used her good name, and the instructor was very strange and tried to act like Pinckney in every way. Just did a horrible job of it. Oh well, we live and learn.

Take care everyone and have a great rest of the weekend,

Janie

It's been fun reading through all of these posts and looking at so many pictures - makes me feel like I was gone for a month, not just ten days! We are certainly the active group ...

Before I forget, let me post about workouts and so on. I am loving that TRX/spiderwoman workout for travel, and the Eclectic Fun workouts paid off too. The funny thing is that I did a weigh-in yesterday, calipers and so on. Yes, I know, first day back is not a recording-weight day, and I won't until Monday. But I was curious. It looks like I am about half a pound up (normal fluctuation) and down almost two percent body fat??? That's both calipers and Tanita. Clothing fits the same or slightly looser, so I'm guessing that STS meso 3 plus the Eclectic routine resulted in slight increase in muscle (hence heavier) and loss of body fat (hence lower percent and slightly smaller). But I'm betting I am back to my normal weight by Monday since travels always get me a little bloated from the sodium and preservatives and all in the food, and will recheck bodyfat again then.

I did pretty well with workouts, although it was harder than usual. That's partly from having been in four different hotels in nine nights, and three full days in airports. Still, I was able to do - TRX/spiderwoman twice, kettlebells once (that was an unexpected surprise - most gyms don't have them!), Cardio Coach twice, 4DS Cathe kickbox once, and quite a bit of walking in airports with all my bags. Last night's workout was Meaner Legs. I'd missed that one. But you know? It seemed almost easy, though that's in comparison to how I remember it and my legs are definitely feeling the work!!! I pushed my weights so much further than before; used to be on that one I'd be from slightly to well below Cathe's team. This time, I took it slightly slower for deadlifts and stopped the tape to get all the reps in, but went heaver - about 50-60% 1RM. There are more reps than Meso 1. But I miss STS's support for planning. It feels - haphazard - to be guessing about my weights during a workout now.

Laura, the travel help I was thinking of in my post was not just the Shock Cardio but the Cathe Download mp4s, suitable for use on ipods. What a neat concept - especially if the new workout blender they are working on lets us mix and match. There is a special on, and I'm not sure how many of them I'm going to get during the discounts ... Not all hotels have the right hookups to play right from the ipod, but many do, nowadays, and there is always the computer. I hope you are feeling okay today? A hip flexor injury would be nasty, with ski conditioning and yoga and all ... Do you use foam rollers to help loosen up tightness? And your poor daughter with the stitches, sounds like she's okay now?

Michelle, was reading your post about the kid with the mustang. It's amazing how people can choose not to learn from experiences like that. We are kind of used to losing power out here, being at the very end of the line, but usually it is from a tree falling on a line or a transformer blowing out ... Am considering Pyramid tonight, or Gym Styles, or a pick from STS. It's an upper body night.

Janie, so sorry that the new callanetics dvd didn't work out. Did you see that I'd also picked up one like that, and was disappointed? There seems to be a trend out there to take these wonderful old style callanetics/Lotte Berke/FLuidity - and - someone I've forgotten - and try and make them aerobic. In the one I had, it just meant a mediocre workout for both styles. Might be time to pull out the originals!

Shoegal, you have really wonderful taste in colors and layout. I also loved seeing all the halloween items in that room. It makes me wonder what you've got in the rest of the house! And I would kill myself if I used an eight inch step for anything but squats or step-ups. My coordination is not up to that height.
