Lunges & Calf Cramps

Hi all,

I'm having an issue with my lunges. I use good form and appropriate weight, but whenever I do a lunge with my left leg back, my left calf gets so tight and crampy that I have to stop. This doesn't happen when I do the other side. Has anyone experienced this? Could I be using bad form on this side?

Any advice appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem. Usually two-thirds to three-quarters of the way through the lunges my left calf cramps fiercely. I usually change my dumbells to a lower weight or finish with no weights at all. I find this eases the cramp. If it's really bad I stop the tape or DVD, stretch the muscle and then restart the exercise with lower weights.
I'd appreciate any other recommendations.
 
Thanks! I tried lowering the weights also, but that didn't seem to make a difference. It's only on one side, so I don't know what's up with that. Anyone else have any ideas?
