Lowmax too easy anyone?

I love Low Max, it has never felt too easy for me. The blast are a lot of fun. I'm surprised to see that not too many people like it. I think Cathe did a great job putting this workout together

This workout is very deceiving. After the 2nd interval, if you are doing the workout properly and really staying low...it is a killer. People who don't feel challenged really need to try it on an 8" step.

I am into high impact and I find this workout gets my heartrate highter than MIC.

I rate this one just a notch below the imaxes, but more intense ( on the 8 inch step ) than alot of Cathes' other step tapes.
I hope she does another one, this is a very effective substitute for all the high impact stuff.

I agree that it becomes more intense as the workout moves on and if you do get low and keep those legs working correctly you will get your heartrate up and you will feel this in the legs. I usually felt DOMS the day after.

The first time I did lowmax I wasn't that excited about it. It didn't get my heartrate up as high as I had hoped. The second time I did it, I put the step up to the 8 inch height and gave it a little more my all and there was a big difference. The first time, my HRM gave me 255 (a low normal calories burned reading for a 1 hour step workout) The second time I got 334, which ranks it up above IMAXes for me. Being a little more familiar with the choreo I'm sure also factored into it.

By the way, I am real jealous of you folks getting these real high calorie count on their HRM! I have a very low resting heartrate so I guess that's why my calorie burned numbers are low. I have to have a real sweatfest like a terminator or the like to get above 400.

I like this one. I've only done it once. It was a nice change of pace from all my high impact workouts. I wrote this before in another thread that I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of sweat that was pouring off of me. I wasn't expecting that. Good work out to reach for on a not so Imax day! :)

Gosh, I think it's one of the hardest Cathes I own! It does take a little time for me to lift my heart rate, but after interval 1, I'm good to go.

BTW - I have an extensive endurance training background and am very fit right now....still kicks my patootie!

I agree, Liz! LOL...this one kicks my butt too...just did it this morning in its entirety (I'm usually fond of doing the premixes, lol) and it worked me over but good! Just really love this workout...I think it's one of Cathe's finest. :)

You stopped after interval 2? That's why. Keep going...it gets very intense as you go on. Definitely try the whole thing and you will think differently.

I'm a hardcore advanced Cathe follower and I'm training for a marathon this year! This workout is intense! Give the whole thing a try!

Oh, and DEFINITELY use an 8 inch step with LowMax!
