Lower Body Pyramid

I have your lower body pyramid dvd. In it you use a bar. I have a shoulder injury, and the bar isn't comfortable for me. Can you use bar bells, and where, how would you hold them?

Not Cathe, but I just did this workout this morning so it is fresh in my mind that Cathe says during the workout that you can substitute dumbbells if you are more comfortable or can move more quickly through the workout.

For most leg exercises (presses, squats, lunges), you can hold the dumbbells by your sides. For deadlifts, you would hold them in the same manner that you would hold a barbell (side to side). Just be sure to use proper form for each exercise and pay special attention while using the dumbbells.

Hi cjozens,

I had a shoulder injury and used dumbbells instead of the BB when doing PLB. I kept the DB at my sides, as I could not put them on my shoulders. My sports Dr. recommended this. I hope this helps. Maybe Cathe has other suggestions.

The deadlifts are the exercise where you hold the weight in front of your legs and bent over from the hips, keeping your knees straight, then pull up. It works the lower back and hamstrings.

I just purchased a barbell last month and have done PLB often since purchasing it last May. Up until the barbell, I only did it with dumbbells and it worked out just fine. In fact, even with the barbell, I tend to do PLB with dumbbells because I can't change my barbell weight fast enough to keep up with Cathe and the crew without pausing the tape.
