Low Impact Circuit - help with mastering the moves

Hi,

I am used to working out and can dance fine(I think!;)), have done firm. I have not done much steps and always wanted to learn but wanted it to be a good workout as well.

So -- I purchased Low Impact Circuit thinking I could do it - but the choreography is too complex for me and I am making so many mistakes... I would appreciate if someone could share any ideas as to how you can master the choreography?

Thanks,
Madhu.

Sometimes it helps to just watch the moves and preview it before doing the DVD.
Others take just one section at a time and keep rewinding to do only that part of the workout. For example in LIC you would just do the first cardio segment. I've read that people do this and just keep doing it until they get it, and then they move on. When they break it down its not as overwhelming.
I normally get Cathe's choreography on the first or section try, and I hope others can chime in. Luckily she cues well and her moves arent too dancy.
Hang in there, you will get it. Keep at it :)

I had the same issue in the past (and never continued on to actually master it...it's on my list of things to do, though) and what frustrated me was that not only was I not getting the moves, but I was not getting the workout that I wanted, either.

Some brilliant person here (I forgot who, sorry!) told me to do a regular workout and then tack on one segment of LIC at the end. That way I was getting in the workout I wanted and learning the moves at the same time. I finally mastered the first segment and then got sidetracked before starting the second segment and never continued. I haven't done step in quite a while so I'm starting back over with basic step (I never really made it past low impact step) and then will use that format to conquer LIC.

Thank you Both for all the tips! Appreciate it.

I like the idea of mastering it segment by segment - I think I will start to do it that way after my normal workout so that I still keep working out and learning new Cathe.

When I first started with Cathe, I had about 10 years of non-stepping. My first few times with her workouts were clumsy and I just kept rewinding it until I got it. It comes down to practice, and it eventually took. Now, when I do her DVDs (when I get a new one), it doesn't take as long to get the steps/movements because I've seen/heard some of it from before. Plus, she gives such great cues that it's easy to know what's coming next.

Have fun!

I also find it helpful to use the slow motion feature of the DVD player to break down the moves and follow along with Cathe and crew. That method helped me with some tricky choreography in the past.
