Low Carbers & Friends - February 2010

Hi Ladies,

Friday was PUB. Saturday was BM2 Timesaver. Love that premix. Its the combos 2x not broken down at all which I love and then the power blast circuts. Lots of fun. Then Sunday was B&G. This week has been crazy so no workouts M,T. Tonight I'm going to get my hair done so probably going to miss tonight as well.

I have done MMA: Fusion. It was all right. I like how there are a lot of elbow strikes and combos with some new moves. Overall.... I'm not impressed with the MMA series. Sorry just not enough intensity for me. KPC still remains to be my favorite Cathe kickbox workout and In the Ring is my ultimate favorite kb workout because of the complexity. I really like complexity and I like to alternate Hi intensity and low intensity on different days. I only throw in MMA when I need a lo intensity day.

The winter here is miserable. I hate it. Its snowing even now. I miss the desert. One positive thing is I don't hurt with the cold anymore. Dr. Harris has fixed that. Remember I was diagnosed with Fibro a decade ago. That wasn't my problem at all. My body doesn't break cystine down into homocystine. That was what caused all my pain. Yay! Its figured out and I don't hurt all the time! Super happy about that!

Sorry I haven't been on here lately. Been pretty overwhelmed. Planning the new location for my store and working with a skeleton crew and a lot of boyfriend issues. I went to Dr. Harris last week. He fixed my stomach issues in 2 months so that I can eat and function properly. He told me last week he needs to work on rebuilding my adrenal glands. I think he called it adrenal fatigue syndrom. He said that my body has no stress coping mechanism. Which makes a lot of sense because I feel like you can make me cry with a feather. Other than that I'm ok. Very glad to be off restrictions and working out again. I'm up to 135.5 lbs. I miss my strength and my muscle. Last fall I was in the 120's. Way too light for my taste. I would like to put on about 5-10 lbs of muscle. Then I will feel normal again.

Later Girls!

Hi babes! Good to see you Reece! I was diagnosed with adrenal fatigue about 6 years ago, I've definitely gotten better since. I'm glad you have a good doctor to help you!! That's awesome you aren't experiencing the pain like you were! I'm sorry you are having boyfriend issues though. :( I know you've always liked the more high impact, challenging move workouts so do you have a favorite in Cathe's new series?

Lita it's funny to me that when I first previewed the MMAs, I thought Fusion would be my favorite, and I haven't even it done it yet! :p And now I dunno when I will 'cause I do STS for 3 days, and then for the next 3 Thursdays, I'm going to do the workouts with the meetup group I joined. I did the first one today and boy, it was a good all over workout! I think I did the most whining! :p We did bootcamp like cardio, squat jacks (killer!) tough ab work, lots of pushups (well, not as much as Cathe makes us do!) and tug of war. I definitely would have taken it easier if I was at home so it was probably good for me.

Have an awesome weekend everyone!

Tracy - Sounds like a great workout :D! Hopefully you will like Fusion better than Melinda and I did :).

Reece - Glad you're getting help and will soon feel much better!

Hi Girls,

Last night (fri) I did PUB. This time I think I made some awesome gains. On rib cage pull overs and triceps extensions I was able to use 15's with out feeling like my collar bone was pulling. I also went from 8's max to 10's for chest work. Just not going deep into the movement and my collar bone was just fine. I feel great this morning. Going home to try Cardio Core Circuit. I haven't done that one yet. I'm excited!
Today is my niece is having her 7th b-day. I feel old. What do you get a 7 year old for her b-day?

Have a great weekend.

Hi Girls,

So I did do CCC on Saturday. It was really intense the first couple rounds then it eased up. Must have gotten easier because of all those water breaks. Wasn't a fan of that roll thing then jump into the air. Yikes I'm so going to have to practice that.
Sunday I did Floor work and SB abs from B&G. Monday night I did Athletic Step for the first time. I'm going to have to do AS again before I decide how I feel about it.

Hope everyone is having a great week! I am!

Looks like we've all been busy! I haven't had much time for the computer lately.

I decided to repeat last week's STS since I only got the first one done. LOL So yesterday I did #28 again and will do plyo legs tomorrow. Had a great run this morning.

Well, hope everyone is doing great! Talk to you later.

Hi babes! I can't believe it, but I'm sick AGAIN!!!:mad: This is the 3rd time since late December! Grrr. Another head cold, it seems to be going around. I did fine last week thinking it was allergies and then ran around alot this past weekend. Even got a hike in! Then yesterday I hit a wall and wanted to take a nap when I got to work this morning! So no workout today. Just didn't have the energy for plyo legs! :p

Glad you're rocking those workouts again Reece! I like Athletic Step, but don't care for CCC. I already shelved it. :(

Rhea, are you planning to do any competetive running someday? :D

Lita, are you on your last week of STS now? I'm on my second to last week and looking forward to the freedom of choosing what I feel like doing again. I love STS when I do it and also love it when it's over. :)

Have a great week babes!

(((Tracy)))! Get well soon!!! This is my final rest week - I was sooo glad to get it all done - especially those blasted plyo legs, lol! I was going to repeat STS but now I'm not so sure ... ... The biggest reason I thought of repeating STS was to feel it was okay to take the rest week after 4 weeks of work . But I guess there's no law that says I can't do that with other workouts ;)....

Rhea - Are you back to work this week :(? Only getting the one done last week, you won't end up repeating a plyo leg :p! That's got to count for something, lol!

Reece - So glad to see that energy pumping for you again :)!

Melinda - Hope you're okay, wherever you are right now!

Yep, I don't think I would even try to repeat pylo legs. I have a hard enough time doing it once. I was going to get up and do my second one this morning, but my brain said...no, can't torture myself so early in the morning. So now I have to run home at lunch and try to get it done, along with trying to lock the darn dog in the pen since he keeps escaping again. I think it might be time to let him go to a new home.

Oh Rhea - what a tough call :(! I'm sorry doggie is not cooperating and is misbehaving! As for the workout - you WILL remember to eat your lunch, won't you ;)?

Hi Everyone.

Just finished up meso 1. I also did some leg work from B&G and MMA:Boxing this week.
Taking today, I am tired. I am not sleeping well. Kind of tense and only 6 hours for at least the past 2 weeks, it is catching up with me. I actually feel like I could sleep well tonight. I'll watch American Idol, then go to bed.

Snow is starting to melt, having temps just over freezing. I sure am glad we don't have 6 feet of snow! Wow!

The past few weeks I was in Ann Arbor, MI, then Detroit the following week. That city does not look good when driving through it. Lots of building abandon, and all the glass windows removed. It is haunting in a way. Looks like a catastrophe happened there.

The next exciting city to visit.... Green Bay, WI. It is going to be freezing! summer would be a better time to visit that place.

Guess I'm heading on to meso 2. Tracy, I hope you are feeling better. I have been lucky, I don't think I've been sick at all this winter. if I was, I don't remember it.

Have a great week everyone, time to watch some tv

Melinda - I hope you were able to get some good sleep last night!!! Oh my - Detroit sounds like something from a Mad Max movie or something ! Since you have done STS more than anyone, can you say that you have noticed improvements by repeating it? Does it work as well to intersperse it with other workouts - like Meso 1 then a week of different workouts then Meso 2....? And when you do it as a whole program, do you take the rest weeks? I'm just so torn over what to do next  ....

Okay, now I know why I do pylo legs in the afternoon, not in the am before coffee. It takes a fully awake brain to even contemplate doing those moves let alone actually doing the darn things. (like the butt kick ones?!! Are you kidding me?) I modfied a lot on that one.

Ran this morning, will do the biceps...yada, yada disc tomorrow.

I think after this rotation is over, I'm going to do a rotation of Chalene XL with TL and the Cathe cardio thrown in for good measure. Will be interesting to see the weight changes in the CLX series.

Have a great rest of the day. Tracy I hope you are feeling better!

On to Meso 2.

Lita, I just do the mesocycle, then take a week off doing mostly cardio/walking, then on to the next meso and I just keep recycling it. I think I'm in the 3rd or 4th time through. I am stronger and notice I have more strength in my core in new ways. I do feel that the STS doesn't hit the hamstrings, and inner/outer thighs like the other workouts, though.

Thanks, Melinda :D! I'm not sure if I'm going to do the whole thing again or not. I started it - guess we'll see how it goes ;). I am thinking of subbing some other leg work here or there (like B&G) or just adding on some floor work when I can to get a more "over-all" kind of leg workout since I noticed the thighs get short shrift, too. I've already subbed some "real" chest work instead of all the push ups today and I felt the chest working MUCH more during the workout !

HI Ladies!

Speaking of B&G... Thats what I did last night. The standing, floor work, and ab work. Oh my.... that was a lot of work. This morning I did PUB wts only because I worked my core last night.
I'm getting ready to move. I found a really nice place. I'm super excited!

Have a great day girls!

Congratulations on finding a new place you love Reece, awesome!!! One of my neighbors moved out of our complex yesterday and I was jealous it wasn't me! :p

Lita, I was thinking that the next time I tackle STS, I am going to try to increase the weight just a teensy bit. If I really want to see continued gains, I need to do that. Yikes! But I'm not ready to tackle STS again right now! Well heck, I'm just on the last week of it anyway! :p There was a rotation Cathe did awhile ago that incorporated different discs from STS. I'd like to do that sometime but after a break. I can find the month if you need it.

Thanks for all of your good wishes for my health ladies! I am much better now! :D I got a flu shot and an H1N1 shot this year so I don't think I should have gotten sick at all this year!

Detroit is probably one of the most, if not the most, depressed cities in America. It's sad that it's so rundown. I don't think anyone has tried to undertake urban renewal there, too much crime apparently. A friend of mine grew up in the area and all for the smart people left. Makes me grateful I've always lived in a relatively healthy economic environment.

Melinda, your bosses should wait until spring and summer to send you to WI! Or any of those other cold northern states!

I finally did MMA Fusion today! I liked the conditioning drills alot. I think I like the MMAs in the following order: #1 is Kickbox, 2 is Boxing and 3 is Fusion.

Here's to a fit week babes!
