Low Carbers & Friends - February 2010

Hi babes! I like meso 3 alot with all of the breaks working with the heavy weights! :) My pecs are speaking to me today for sure!

Good job getting the workout finished after your run Rhea! I'd be tempted to stop after the run too! I can't tell from our thread if your worked out on Friday or not, sorry!

So I decided at the last minute today to join the workout meet up group to do their Rocky Balboa workout (stairs--yikes!) I drove to the place, then couldn't find anyone. :( I was pretty bummed and went home and did disc 26 and Cathe's yoga abs. That disc is killer! I later went online and the group did meet and ran 700 stairs and did 100 push ups. I think I'm glad I missed it! :p (I also emailed the organizer to find out what went wrong but haven't heard back.)

Lita, thanks for thinking I'm brave! But when I try new things, I'm usually pretty quiet so it's a little nerve wracking really! But getting together with people who have something in common with me makes it less scary.

Have a great rest of the week babes!

Rhea - Maybe you exercised Friday and forgot to tell us ;)! BTW - I did MMA: KB yesterday keeping in mind you thought combo 3 was fun. It wasn't my fave but it was much better this time around - thanks :D!

Tracy - What a bummer :(! But I tell ya - 700 stairs and 100 push ups???? I'd do disc 26 any day over that :p!

Yep, I'm pretty sure I didn't workout Friday.

I did that darn Plyo Leg disc today. Oh, boy did that have the dread factor in it. It was not as bad as I thought it would be, well, except that it was too early in the morning to be jumping around like that. Plus, I chickened out on jumpin up on the step. Yeah, right, I'd probably kill myself by missing the step, tripping over it and hitting my head on the floor! I'd almost rather be running.

Tomorrow is a run in the morning. Are all the legs discs plyo legs this Meso cycle? Eek.

Rhea - The only time I use the high step is for butt kicks & explosive running man. Everything else has anywhere from 0 - 3 risers - usually just 1 or 2 ;). And yes, in Meso 3, they are all plyo legs !

A feb thread. That is nice to see! So I guess that means I haven't posted since Jan??? And it's the 10th. California was nice, no rain, but cloudy. We nice to be 65 degrees, didn't have to wear the winter coat.

Worked in Michigan yesterday, had a huge storm. I'm sick of winter. Got so fatigued from the drive home in it that I slept 12 hours!!! I can't believe it.

OK, so in between the travel, I'm doing the mesocycle 1 and cardio when I can. I am not liking this mesocycle this time around. I'm in week 3

tracy, I think the best cure for being sick is rest. That is my conclusion as I get older, just stop and give your body a chance to heal itself. So naps are great!

I can't wait to start walking again. I sit way too much and it is annoying me.

Hi babes! For some reason, I don't have as big a dread factor with the plyo legs for STS as I do for HIIT. There's at least some weight work thrown in with meso 3! But if you prefer Rhea, you can do the separate weight work for legs (discs 37 through 40 I believe) that go along the same way the upper body work does. I've been meaning to try one of those but never have.

Lita, I'm going to do MMA KB tomorrow so I'm glad you liked it this time around! I don't think the 700 stairs and 100 pushups were done all at once, I don't think Cathe would ever want to do that! I did hear back from the oraganizer and she was very apologetic and gave me her cell number so this type of thing won't happen again. Yippee!

Hi Melinda! Glad you are back! I'm sorry you are getting so much snow! Sleeping 12 hours sounds wonderful to me!! I walked in the garage at work today due to our torrential rain so I'm grateful we have that rather than nothing. :)

Ooh boy, had a bad day today. Someone at work got on my case about something so petty (leaving my yogurt cup soaking in the sink 'cause the flax meal sticks to it and the spoon) that I blew up and said the dropped the F bomb twice! Then I called the doctor to get refills on an allergy med and massage visits and they made me come in. I gained 3 pounds since October! I was surprised actually and I blame it on the lactic acid from disc 26. That's my story babes!

Melinda - I am so sorry you can't walk these days! I know how hard that must be :(!

(((Tracy)))!!!!! What a raunchy day all around! I hope the rest of the week is MUCH better for you!

BTW - I've noticed in Meso 3, in the shoulders, biceps, triceps workouts - you only get 30 seconds between the muscles to rest (one minute between sets). However, all the sudden in the 2nd of the 3 sets, you get more time all the sudden before the biceps . Wish we had that much time between them all because I need time to switch all my wrist weights around!

Hmm, I guess tomorrow will be an interesting workout with me running around trying to always catch up.

Got up this am and ran. Did much better than before, ran almost an entire mile before I had to walk. So, I guess I'm gaining some improvement.

I have tomorrow and Monday off from work, plus I took Wed-Friday of next week off. YIPPPEEEEEE. DH will be at work W-F, so I'll have the house to myself. Whoo hooo. Probably will come up with lists or some project for me to do, I always do, darn it.

Have a great rest of the week if I don't get back here soon.

Wow, Rhea, you're doing great on that running :D!!!!!! How awesome you get extra time off next week AND get some of it to yourself !!!!! Lucky girl ;)!

Hi all,

Just finished up meso 1 week 3.

did anyone try the Hiit pyramid workout. I really liked it. Before I did it, I thought there would be not rest, but that is not the case.

Tracy, my work is crazy too. Very busy which leads to lots of stress and big reactions over things.

Think I'll do some sort of cardio. Got to get moving. My butt is getting more crinkles!

Melinda - I liked it too :). I tried it after you said it was your favorite of the Hiits. I think it's going to be mine too - didn't seem to be as much impact and there wasn't the constant juggling of step. MMA:B will remain my fave for sure, though, because it's awesome to have something without impact ;)!

Wow, were we buried in the back pages.

Well, this weekend has been pretty good, busy, but good.

Today is gorgeous out, almost want to go and golf, but again, too many things to do here. Part of my mission this spring is to get this house in possible selling shape. If the market picks up, we may want to sell this house when the other one is finished. But lots of little things to finish or clean up (yardwise for the cleanup)

Workouts? Hmm, I was exhausted Friday, so didn't workout. In Reno on Saturday....so yesterday I had to make up the end of the week STS. Today I think I will do the Tracie Long's Step Forward, or whatever it is called. I have to put together the new DVD player though since ours decided to die last night. It just quit. Then I realized that I couldn't workout until I got a new one, so that was one of the first things that got done today.

Okay, off to put the new dvd player together. Have a great rest of the day.

I'm so glad someone finally popped in to play :D! I was getting awfully lonesome ;)..... But I did stop short of talking to myself, lol!

The other house???? Have I missed something - like you're building a new house or got a new house???? How did I miss that ????? OMG - I really HAVE lost it!!!!

Have fun with that new DVD player Rhea - they always have a much bigger learning curve than I want to deal with ....

Yep, hopefully building house this year on lot we bought last year. I say hopefully because the banks are so picky and afraid to loan money now after the big crash. There are only three banks in CA that do construction loans now. (that is not including private monies at much higher interest rates)

We want to be able to keep the house here for a while, at least during construction and for some time after that....not sure how much I want to pay for two households though.

Well, got to go take a shower, Tracie Long just kicked my booty again. That new step workout is a killer for your legs.

Rhea - How did I miss that bit of news ????? Anyway, congratulations :D!!!! But gosh, after all the tons of work you've done at your current house, I'm surprised you want to move at all :p! Good luck with that loan - fingers crossed it comes together for you before the rates start rising again!

Good afternoon!

Was a good girl this am and got up and joined the group for the am run/jog. Doing so much better, they made us go farther! The little hill was a killer. I didn't need my HR monitor to know that my HR was about 2 gazillion. I need to do the next STS disk today when I get home. So today is a big workout day. At least there are nice rests on the Back and Chest workout.

Have a great rest of the day. I will hopefully be popping in this week, but the weather looks a little to good to keep me indoors.

Winter isn't over!!! At least not for me! We just got 9 more inches of snow and it keeps coming. Was a snow day for school. Way more than normal for us and it makes the traveling with my job very difficult!

Beginning last week of Meso 1. yesterday was 4DS legs + abs from B&G (regular, no ball).

Tracy, how did you find this running group?

Lita, I really like MMA boxing too! Haven't done it in awhile, though.

Rhea, good luck with the house fixing up and all. BTW, Tracy, how is your house construction coming along?

Hi babes! I had a lot of reading to do here to catch up! :D

Melinda, I am so sorry for your snow! Like Rhea, we have sun in our future with temps in the 50s this week--yippee! I'll definitely try to send it your way when we're done with it! Rhea found a running group but I found a workout group through a website called Meetup Groups or something like that. I actually Googled hiking groups in my area which led me to a list of groups in my area that meetup to do all sorts of stuff. (I joined a hiking and biking group too but haven't signed up for any outings with them yet).

Rhea, awesome job on the gains with running! Amazing what our bodies can do, huh? And how quickly! Are you and DH going to get a contractor to build your home?

Lita, thank you for the hugs! My week got better, thank you!

I haven't done HIIT Pyramid yet but it's on my agenda to do someday soon! I did MMA KB the other day and loved it! I think the MMAs are going to be a favorite of mine. Anyone done MMA Fusion yet?

I am in a boat pretty close to Rhea regarding house stuff! DH and I are heading to the house we have to fix a couple of things and try to get it rented again (it's been empty a year and a half)! We can't get what we want if we try to sell it right now. We're paying for some of the work ourselves before trying to get a loan on the property here, hoping it will increase our chances of getting a good one! DH told me he has a specific date in mind to get the foundation poured but I guess he doesn't want to tell me in case it doesn't happen! :p

Disc 29 today and Weights and Plates abs. The plyo leg workout went better than last week I think. The ab work almost killed me though! :)

Man, I would love the house to myself for a couple of days, and a vacation too. Geez, I want a lot! :D

Melinda - You guys are having such a nasty winter! My sister (in western PA) has over 6 foot on the ground and it just keeps coming. She's only 5 foot tall so she's having a heck of a time clearing things off :p!

Tracy - I've done MMA: F several times. While the MMAs are definitely my favorites (but then, I'm only doing those and Hiit ;) ), Fusion is my least favorite of them all. You did all of W&P abs ???????? You rock, girl! So glad you're week got better :)!
