Low Carbers Challenge - June 09

Tue: finished off 4DS yesterday (Mon). Today I did LIS cardio + abs from LIC

I'm thinking about doing GS this week.

Good evening!

Yesterday I did YBB Hip Hop and Abs. Today was Cardio Cabaret Burlesque Style. I was giggling through the entire workout. It was fun though. I might try to do another Pajama Yoga tonight. I sure like how it relaxes me.

How's everyone else doing?

Hi babes! Thank you for all of the birthday wishes! :D I had a great birthday weekend--went to Portland for the parade on Saturday, didn't get enough sleep that night (but did have plenty to eat and drink beforehand I assure you!) and DH took me to lunch and then over to his brother's house for cake on Sunday. We didn't have time to see a movie so we'll do that Friday. I have not caught up on my sleep and am rather pooped at the moment! :p

Jeanie, I'm so sorry about Ces!! :( I hope things get better in your area soon! There have been predictions that our area is going to improve in 6 months if I remember right but the state is laying off people now so that impact hasn't been felt yet. (Our new budget starts July 1st.) They've posted extra state troopers around our campus (we have about 6 buildings on campus) in case things get ugly with the workers who are losing their jobs. It makes me so sad!

Melinda, I am sending big hugs to you too! I hope this day wsn't too hard on you!!! I agree that the old Firms are pretty out of date but I still do Volume 3 now and then. I really haven't missed any of the ones I packed away so to the library they will go!

Rhea, I cracked up at the name of your cardio workout! Love it! I've heard that CA has had the coldest June in 15 years! I think we stole your weather, sorry! It's been beautiful here, consistently, and we're usually a soggy mess right now! And as for your purging workout, I thoroughly believe that's the perfect workout to do on a Sunday. :D

Lita, what workouts are you doing this week? I have only one more STS workout to do, then I'm done! I think I'm in mourning, I've really enjoyed it and wanna keep up the strength! Last week, I was able to do one upper body workout with ease whereas I struggled with it the week before. And I wasn't just a little stronger, I seemed to be a lot stronger. Weird! Today I did Plyo Legs and it didn't go that well. I blame my tiredness because that's all I have to blame!

Hmm, I had to subscribe to this thread, no automatic subscription happened for me! Quite the quagmire....

Later sweet babes!

Melinda - Hope you're feeling better today :).

Rhea - Sounds like a great workout :D!

Tracy - I'm so glad you had a great birthday!!!! And to get to carry the celebration over into this weekend is even better, lol! As for rotations, I'm doing 4DS again this week but then I'm moving on. I'm going to make a list of all the cardio/lower body moves I do and give it to PT so hopefully they can decide if I should or shouldn't even be exercising so who knows what next week will bring ? As for this forum, I find it to be a bit awkward.... But every time I just tell myself to be thankful my other forum takes me to where it's supposed to, when it's supposed to ;).

Hi Everyone,

Thank you, all, I am feeling ok. My son sent me a message on facebook. He is staying at a friend of his friend's house. The father is renting him a room for $200/mo. I am so greatful there are people in this country that are so generous to strangers. Don't know if I'd be willing to do that. Anyways, DS is staying with them until the other boy is 18, then all 3 will get an apartment together. That's all the details I know. I did tell DS before he left that he needed to help out at the person's house as much as possible, which would include mowing grass, or any other chores they needed. He said he knew how to act at other people's homes, and I do believe he does, as I found out that he had been helping a girl in the band's father put siding on his home! Hmmm, seems kids are always more willing to help out others before their own parents! Oh, well.

On to exercise... Today I did GS legs - 49 min timesaver. I felt strong doing this. Tracy, I don't want to lose my strength from STS, so I was thinking that I'd do meso 2 for a month in another week or 2, then go on to GS and 4DS, then do meso 3

How's that for a plan???

Melinda - I am sure you did a great job raising your son and he's out there making you proud !

Tracy - Forgot to mention.... I think it was the 3rd or 4th plyo leg that about killed me so it seems that one has to hit us good and then we're okay with the rest of them ;). Fingers crossed you're just as strong on the upper body next week as you were this week!

Good evening!

Today for me was YBB Cardio, Latin style! It was fun even though the darn dvd player was acting up. Great ballet moves and always a core workout with latin choreography. Also was a massage day. So, now I'm off to do some fun stuff, like clean dishes, make dinner, oh yeah, leftovers tonight.

Have a great rest of the day everyone!

Just stopped in to tell you that I'm on my way to the Bay Area tomorrow, so have a great weekend.

Did another fun workout today, Bollywood style sculpting. Was totally fun, I just love the dance moves!

Melinda - I was soooo torn between GS and S&H I almost couldn't decide . So I figured I'd do S&H this week then GS next week. But I think I'm going to put in longer rests in GS so I can lift heavier. Since I can't do any lower body, I gotta burn whatever calories I can where I can  ;) :p!

Lita, I put more rest time with GS and went heavier. Great minds think alike! Since I did GS legs already, I did B&G standing legs and the regular ab part.

I sure wish Cathe wouldn't go so fast with the reps in most of her workouts. I am taking things I've learned with STS and applying it to the other workouts

Great minds definitely think alike, Melinda :D! I am so with you on the rep speed! I do understand some workouts are endurance and therefore at a faster pace, but when something is a strength workout, I need to go slow for safety's sake and to get the most out of it. And some things, like pushups, she always goes way too fast for me to keep up regardless of what type of workout it's to be .

Hi babes! Sounds like DS IS doing you proud Melinda, right on! :D I think there are still alot of good people out there who are willing to help others and especially a young man out on his own for the first time.

Rhea, how was the Bay Area? Do anything fun? My heart still belongs in SF! And I agree with Lita, you sure know how to party it up at home girl!

Lita, did the PT say no lower body workouts right now? You had said in an earlier post that you were going to show your PT what exercises you do.

Melinda, that is QUITE the ambitious plan! I'm taking the active rest week Cathe told me to do after meso 3 even though I don't REALLY want to take it easy. :p I am going to do 4DS split next week, then wing it afterwards. I may grab the GS series after 4DS, I don't know yet. I'll let you know if I feel as strong after STS next week! If I can do just a little more weight with the moves, that's better than I did before so that's what I'm going to do. I don't want to go too heavy if the reps are fast. I really think that STS is a whole different animal, especially because we stick with one type of program training for so long. None of our other workouts can do that for us!

Tracy - No lower body OR cardio :(. I am allowed short, slow walks or very easy bike riding (~ 4mph or less on flat surface) but that's it. In theory I can go use their gym equipment for my cardio but I know if I get there with no one supervising I'll do way more than I should  ;). Fingers crossed this is the magic cure (along with all the treatments) because I really am feeling a bit restricted and edgy - and it's only been a couple days !

Ewww, no cardio or lower body? I would be definitely going nutzoid.

Tracy - Bay area was the usual fun. I'm going back on Thursday. I sure will like having DH here, but will miss San Fran. I love all the food available! LOL

Been keeping up with my shorter workouts. Today was the HIp Hop and Abs. Getting better (at least in my mind!) at the dancey part.

Well, off to unpack more shtuff. Talk to you later.

OK, so I KNOW I'm stronger because... I can now do 1 fully pull up without jumping up a bit! Whoo hoo! The pull up bar is now up all the time, so I just do one every now and then. During STS, I stood on a stool so I'd be up higher and then kept my feet touching the stool so I wasn't pulling up all that body weight.

OK, Tue was a rest day. Wed, I may go for a walk. Thur I'll do upper body

Lita, Cathe's pushups are always too fast for me. If I want to keep up, I have to drop to my knees.
