Low budget indulgences

Take a day and do everything YOU love to do. Bring along a book and find a cozy Starbucks and order a cafe' mocha to sip while enjoying a good read. Treat yourself to an afternoon movie or have some girlfriends over for finger food and wine and a chick flick. Or go to the Cheesecake Factory and induldge in a big piece of cheesecake. Or get an arm full of your favorite magazines at Barnes & Noble, take along a notepad to jot down ideas/websites/makeup brand and colors and thumb through the magazines with your favorite coffee drink (make sure you get in a comfy chair in a corner somewhere). I love to look around Ulta...buy yourself a new color of lipstick or nail polish. Happy Birthday!

Although I'm definitely in the same camp with Michele, I tend to try to save money on things that don't mean as much to me. For example, I'll have dinner at an expensive restaurant, but refuse to buy Bounty paper towels because they're too expensive. But the other day I made an exception. I spent $12.99 on a jar of Caldrea lavender pine hand cream. I love the scent, but I never buy it because it's too expensive. I swear, I felt downright NAUGHTY.

Have a wonderful birthday, and let us know how you decide to indulge.

Suzanne,

I, um, treat myself to lovely things all the time http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/th_Sheepish.gif ...the ultimate for me is a massage. Actually, I no longer consider it a luxury but a necessity. Just wanted to say in that regard, ask around locally for recommendations. An earlier poster suggested going to a beauty/wellness school for a discounted massage. Great idea. There are also therapists locally who will charge far less than what you'd pay at a spa. For example, my chiro recommended someone who charges $35 for a 35 min. massage or $45 for a 50 min. massage. At my spa, it's double that price.

Whatever you decide to do, hope you have a wonderful b'day enjoying all the things you love most! :)

Thanks Cathy! I have a really wonderful massage therapist who isn't cheap but she will not accept a tip from me and always gives me a 1 1/2 hour massage for the 1 hour fee. Plus she's funny and her house is really cool so it's not just a massage it's therapy and environmental zen as well.

Nancy, I had to LOL about the paper towels because I'm the exact same way. I'll blow a ton of money to keep my DS in strawberries in the dead of winter and I'll spend all kinds of $$ on other people for gifts but I'm Generic Girl when it comes to everything else.

I ordered that Skin Type Solution (or something close to that)book from the library and when that comes in I'll peruse and maybe splurge on some *gasp* makeup. (I never wear makeup) My skin is so ornery and now changing so fast as I get older.

I will certainly let you all know my various indulgent decisions as I make them.

;) :) :p
