Hi Cathe
I was wondering if you can help I would love to excercise but have the following medical problems.
Left knee 3 operations torn ligaments, minicus, acl.
lower back problems
dislocated both shoulders..right shoulder three stitches holding it in place
I used to go to a gym but cant really get there now I was doing some bycycle and treadmill for around 45 mins then some weights
but now I am stuck at home can you suggest any thing that might help me I know the weight I have put on can't help my knee or back problems so I am trying to lose at least 50 lbs to start with.I am 5"3' weight is 240lbs I have watched your fit tv program but only get to catch the last 15 mins of the show at both times it is on. I was wondering which dvd I could get to do at home. Any information you can give me would be great.
thanks
Ana

I am not Cathe, but have you thought about the Leslie Sansome's walking videos/dvd's? It is great for a beginner, especially with some of your medical problems, I don't think Cathe's advanced workouts would be right for you right now. I do think loosing the weight is a good jump start, as it will help with other issues and you can slowly start getting into other cardio workouts. Also, Cathe's beginning workouts for strength training, I would advise to start with to incorporate with your cardio/walking routine.

The reason I am suggesting Leslie Sansome's is because you can gradually work up into power walking, etc. Also, you need to look at your caloric intake. Meaning, to realistically look at loosing the weight. The South Beach diet, Weight Watchers, any program that looks at 1200-1800 a day calorie intake, is a good start.

I know your battle. I lost 80 lbs, started to walk on the treadmill, and advanced as my endurance increased. Keep at it and keep your head up. It will take a while to get the weight off, just as it was a while to put it on.

Hope this helps.
