Losing 10-pounds or inches-Thur. Nov 15

Goodmorning strugglers.

tneah, I'll try your method. Once I had my DH hide the scale. I think that may be required again.

Michelle, I'm glad you enjoyed the tomato. Now try squeezing in a small salad and put a few extras on the salad, like peas, broccoli, chickpeas.

TK, I love your hair. I wish I had the nerve and patience to go gray, but it's still so patchy, I'd look a mess.

I did better yesterday, but not as well as I'd like. I ended up munching handfuls of pretzels and cereal for dinner. I was babysitting my grandson and he requires lot of attention. At least he fell asleep pretty early and I got a chance to relax and read.

Today's workout will be LIS shoulders etc. I'm not sure about dinner. I'm thinking chicken sausage sandwiches. I'm not feeling very inspired.

Hope you all have the time of your life today.

Morning Robin and to all that follow!

I did my weigh this am and am down 1/2 pound.. not bad.. I think it was the plate of pasta I had for dinner instead of the Lean Cuisine that I had planned to have.x( . I think I will weigh again tomorrow just to make sure! I may be setting myself up for frustration!

Today I did 4DS biceps, triceps and added the shoulder work on. I have changed this to a 3 day split.

Robin:
Good job on avoiding that pizza!

Shelley:
It really only takes a couple of weeks to get in the habit of doing workouts in the am. Let us know how you did.

B:
I don;t run with the I-Treads, I do the interval walks, where she has you on a 10% incline. I insert some jogging at points, but mostly walk.

Michele:
Don't despair.. keep at it and the weight will go down!

Tneah:
I agree on the measurments being probably more important than the scale, but I think we all were ingrained to be slaves to that number on the scale and it is hard to give up!

Lainie:
Maybe an eliptical for Christmas? Only if you really like that form of cardio. I have one and rarely use it, but it is there if my knees are acting up!

Did everyone order their new calendar?

Have a great day!

Deb

:)

Morning girls!

I did it. I got up at 4:45 and took the dogs out, then I ran four miles (was supposed to be five but it took longer than expected to get up :p). It was relatively easy after I actually got my butt out of the bed.

Robin - pretzels and cereal are just fine. I'm glad Greyor got to sleep early for you.

Michelle - half a pound is great. Better than no pounds or up, right?

Tneah - I'll be taking my measurements when I weigh myself. I like that idea too.

I haven't decided about the calendar yet. I'll go have a look and see what I think.

Okay, have to go wake the monster and get her off to school:)

Morning, everyone!

Last night I did Cardio Coach, Vol. 6 and really enjoyed it. But my elliptical readings were the slowest I've ever done, and the calories burned were also the lowest (if you can trust that thing). One reason was because I increased resistance overall; another is because I'm experimenting with new foot placement, which slows me down a bit. I still got a good workout... and I'm trying not to be a slave to my readings.

My calf was quite tired after that, plus doing the exercises my PT gave me, so I'd better be careful.

Robin - I really admire your dedication, even when you have to take care of the baby!

Deb - hey, a half-pound is progress! Don't x( over that!! Keep it up!

Shelley - WOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!! How do you feel? Pumped and ready to take on the day?

Sometimes my DH is so annoying. I was told by my physical therapist yesterday not to do my usual cardio but to do a bike or elliptical instead. Of course, I don't have one of those, so I have been sending DH links to places they are for sale online (we'd talked about getting one awhile back but never did). Now I'm asking him about it (on MSN Messenger) and he's acting weird like it's out of the blue. "Buy what? Why?" Duh. I think he's just playing ignorant about it because he hates spending any money. Big cheapskate.

OK, sorry for the rant. Today I'll be doing the sculpting part of Tracey Staehle's High Intensity Kickbox Challenge, though I might have to modify the lower body sections for my ankle. I'll also do the exercises my PT gave me to do.

Yesterday I ate clean (stuck with the WW Core plan) all day until dinner--when Ewan had a fever and wouldn't stop crying. I didn't make what I had planned but ate what I was feeding the boys--bacon and banana muffins. I was going to also make them eggs and extra veggies, and I would eat eggs & veggies, but with the screaming toddler I ended up just going with what I'd already put in the oven (bacon & muffins). At least Ewan seems to feel better today--we're just spending a quiet day at home to make sure he's o.k. It's a gray, rainy day, so a good day to stay indoors.

I hear my 2-year old opening the fridge--I'll be back later for personals after I figure out what he's doing.

OK, apparently Ewan just wanted some juice. He only just learned how to open the fridge--it's a pretty heavy door. This is a whole new difficulty--keeping him out of there.

Robin, sounds like you had a tough time getting the right dinner, too. I also did better yesterday but not as well as I'd hoped. I didn't get all my veggies and fruits in. :(

Deb, congrats on the half pound loss! Every little bit helps! I'll be lucky if I don't get a gain this week. x(

Shelley, awesome job getting up at the crack of dawn. No way could I do that. I am so NOT a morning person. On the other hand, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I've been getting up earlier this fall now that Isaac's in school. I like to get up before the kids are up to get some stuff done. I still don't fit in a workout then, though.

Shannon, do they do electrical muscle stimulation on you at your physical therapy visits? I kind of liked that. It reminded me of a machine I used attached to my tummy when I was in labor with Ewan. It was a natural birth except for using that and trying a gas thing I didn't like.

Good Morning All!

Yeah Shelley!! I got up early too. I feel great! Yeah us!!

Robin - pretzels and cereal isn't so bad -- now if you would have said pretzels and beer .... hmmm

Lainie -- is there any chance your husband is trying to surprise you for Christmas? I've done the same thing a few times, my husband acts all "weird" and then I find out he was secretly planning on buying me something. Just a thought??

Ok, I'm slowly getting into these personals. But I'm at work and don't have time to do them all. Just know that I read every single post and I am thinking of ALL of you!!

Have a great day!
Michelle

>Lainie -- is there any chance your husband is trying to
>surprise you for Christmas?
Nope, no chance. The man does not do surprise gifts. OK, that's not quite true. Sometimes he'll bring me some pretty jewelry back when he's been traveling, and sometimes it even coincides with a birthday or anniversary, but gifts are just not his thing. I have learned to buy a lot of stuff for myself, but I don't feel comfortable buying the expensive stuff without agreement from him. The good news is I can usually talk him into what I want, it just might take a long time!

Shannon -- I can't believe doing a cardio coach and your readings were low. I just started "attempting" them. Man, they are tough. So far I haven't completed an entire one yet. I should be over on the "I hate cardio" forums!!

Lainie - I think running after little ones is cardio! I remember when mine just learned how to open the fridge -- it drove me crazy. I ended up putting a child-proof latch on my fridge. (Oh my gosh, that really makes me sound lazy!!)

Later -
Michelle

Morning All!

Apparently I am having a love affair with nuts!:) I must need that fat or something, I munched on a bunch of almonds and cashews last night while on the computer, mindless munching mind you. Uh-oh. Sometimes I wonder if my nightly glass of vino has less calories than my nut munching....gotta stop that. I did eat very well other than that though. Lots of fruit and veggies and tuna. Got 3 quarts of water in too, my tummy looks leaner this AM, cool. Love to see those upper abs goin' on!:D

Lainie, print out a pic of the elliptical and tape it to the bathroom mirror!:7 He will get it sooner or later...you amaze me, mommyhood is such a huge job, hope your little guy is feeling better.

Robin, have fun with your little one too! Glad you got a chance to read, I love to read and have been doing the Scott F Fitzgerald thing lately. :) Oh and cereal and pretzels just mean more readily available carbs for your next workout.

Shelley, kudos to you! I could never get up that early and workout. You are another amazing woman.:)

TK, I know what you mean about the hair, I hate sitting there that long, but today my hair looks smashing!:7 Enjoy your fruit today.

Michelle, I love tomatoes too, I find the more you eat veggies, the more you want them. Sugar takes the cravings for veggies away with me, which is one of the reasons sugar is not good for me, I just cannot eat veggies when I am on a sugar kick!

Shannon, I totally ignore those readings, how can they be accurate really? They just discourage me. I occasionally do a 10-second count to see where my heartrate is at but that is it. Glad you are getting back to your workouts!

Thats it for now, for any that follow my "good eats" thoughts are with you!

I am doing some cardio this am and a pilates type workout (Fluidity maybe) Take care and have a good day!

Hiya!

Lets make a pact not to fret over doing personals. Sometimes it's all I can do just to post. I've been trying to limit my time on the computer because; A) I'm a procrastinator by nature and I use the computer as a means of putting off other things, like...say...working out :p, and B) I'm recovering from Wii elbow (stop laughing) and typing and mousing really aggravate it.

I don't mind going by measurements but just so you know, I'm a chronic waist measurer and based on my experience, my waist fluctuates every bit as much as my weight ;( . Maybe hip and/or thigh measurements are more stable, but my waist can vary by as much as 1 1/2" in either direction in one day ;)

Today calls for stretch or yoga -- I'll be adding cardio. DH and I are going out to dinner tonight. The restaurant has several healthy selections and I shall make one.

Robin - pretzels and cereal aren't so bad -- at least it wasn't cake and pie, eh!? So when are you going to make that veggie stir fry? :9

Shelley - ^5's on the early morning run!! Oh man, that had to be hard. I used to be an early morning person, but now I'm more of a midmorning person :p

Cuz - I'm doing a Cardio Coach workout, too. I might go with V4 or V5 -- I haven't decided yet.

Lainie - I seem to recall that Robin employs a leather teddy, in conjunction with her womanly wiles, whenever she needs her DH to "agree" about something }( . OMG bacon sounds so yummy!!

Michelle - Hi, I'm a one "L'ed" Michele and we both hate cardio :p :7. I might ponder a name change in order to eliminate the confusion. Oh, and you're welcome to post with us Haters any old time you want. We'd love to have you.

TK and tneah -- I went gray in my 20's, too, and I'd miss dinner with the Queen before I'd miss my hair appointment. I go every 4 weeks without fail for my deskunking. TK, I'd let my hair go au naturle if it was as pretty as yours, but mine looks really nasty.

Hello to everyone I missed. Have a great day everyone.

No, Michelle, that makes you sound smart! I should get one--except I'd be too lazy to have to open it--which could turn out to be a good thing.

Hello one "L" Michele!! :)

Yes, I was so proud that I got up early this morning, grabbed my bottle of water and IPOD and jumped on the elliptical. After 10 minutes, I was soooo bored. I really HATE cardio. 20 minutes was all I could stand!

However, since I have 10 pounds to lose -- I figure I better suck it up and do some cardio!

Michelle

Hello All,

So I did good yesterday in the eating department and I did Muscle Endurance. I love that ab segment!!!

Friday's almost here... Stay strong!!!!

AAAAkkkkkk! So far today I have eaten 5 Hershey's Kisses. Don't laugh. Ordinarily that wouldn't bug me a bit. But please remember I'm supposed to take it easy on the exercise.

Maybe I can stop now.

Hi gotta b quick-

So far so good today, did the cardio premix on LIC. Its the only step workout I can really do without tripping all over the place.

I am craving food of all kinds-well sort of. I want like a huge deli sandwich with all the trimmings. Good grief. No I don't, Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Stressful day, hubby's are wonderful but can such pains in the arses sometimes!x( What am I? A mind reader?? Well, actually most of the time yes I am!

Okay, today has been tiring and stressful, might retire with a book or something the rest of the evening. Hope everyone's day was super duper!:7 :7 Had planned on doing some sort of Pilates tonight but probably won't, I exercised once already today and for now that is quite enough thank you.:)

>>He only just learned how to open the fridge--it's a pretty heavy door. This is a whole new difficulty--keeping him out of there.>>

Lainie: When you figure that out, will you come to my house and teach me to keep out of the refrigerator? I think that's been my problem all along.

Deb: I'm not getting a calendar again this year. Though the 2007 one was really nice, I found it didn't do anything more for me than the free one I get from work. I kind of liked the sticker thing but they were so stinkin' small and I am too lazy to make my own.

Shelley: Woohoo for getting up at 4:45 to run. You 'sound' a lot better today too. Hope the run gave you the lift you needed.

Two-L Michelle: Yay for you too for doing your early morning workout!

Tneah: Glad you're having a good hair day. I'm trying to grow my layers out a little bit and it's driving me CRAZY.

One-L Michele: The waist measurement on me too goes up and down as much as the scale. I think I'll try to rely more on how clothes fit. Lately I've been good about staying off the scale except for once a week.

B: For me, it's 'oh no, Friday's coming'. Weekends are a challenge for eating but yeah I do appreciate not being at work.

Shannon: Step away from those kisses!:9

I'm still being a good girl, and gasp, I think I'm feeling a little less 'poofy'. I think adding back a few good carbs have helped.
