I am going to get new shoes. My Ryka Affirms are a year old and my feet are starting to go numb when I do step:( I am looking at the Ryka N-Gage XT II and Asics_Gel 230 TR. Does anyone have these shoes and if so what do you think of them? Zappos has the Rykas in my size 9.5 but not the Asics. Thanks for any info.

Hey Steph!

I can't help you out on the shoes but I have to tell you that I checked out your picture trail and your work out room is totally awesome! I LOVE the flat screen tv mounted on the wall! WOW! I would kill for a room like that! The only thing I'd add is a few mirrors to check my form!:) Oh and the X posters are a nice touch...I've actually thought about purchasing one myself since I am such a fan of the program!;)

Thanks Wendy. I love my room. It was my husband idea for the tv on the wall. Before this room was done I worked out in front of our bigscreen so it was weird for a while looking at the smaller tv. We were thinking about some mirrors but I decided I wanted the posters up instead. I can see me shadow on the wall to check form.

I think I have decide to get the Rykas. I can always send them back if I don't like them. Here are the ones I am getting. http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7266616/c/93893.html

I have the ryka n gage studio shoe and I love it so I'll bet the ones you are getting will be awesome as well. If you like them, maybe they will be MY next pair? }( ;) I would actually like to get away from the high top style next time anyway...

I got the Rykas N-Gage from Zappos about 2 months ago. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them, I had Rykas before (and several other shoes). The Rykas work really well in regards to lateral support, at least for me.

I got a size 9.5, usually I wear a size 8.5 to 9, 9.5 with the Rykas is perfect for me.

Hi Steph,

I haven't any shoe info for you, but I looked at the pictures of your weight room and love it. What are the mats on the floor and where did you get them? I workout in my basement and my ankle get a little sore from the impact sometimes. Do the mats help absorb the shock? Thanks for any info you cam give me.

Carolyn

Hi Carolyn,

I got my puzzle mats at BJ's. I have two layers down, since we did not carpet the room. We were going to put berber carpet down like the rest of the basement. But then thought why since I was just going to cover it up. I feel that they do absorb the shock. My knees and ankles never have hurt until recently that's how I knew I needed new shoes and two were going numb doing step.

I bought them from Zappos once and sent them back. I didn't like them. I ordered Saucony Running Shoes - Stability - Racing and they are the BEST shoes I've ever worn. They work well for step, running and all sorts of aerobics. They are very cushioned in the forefoot. I can't say enough good about them. I even got a couple other Catheites hooked on them. The ones I have are Grid Tangent's (Running/Stability/Racing) and you should find them at Zappos. I now own 2 pairs in different colors. Their crosstrainers in Black/Plum are cool looking also and I also own those and love them, although they don't have quite the amount of cushioning the other ones have. I will never buy another brand again....that's how much I love them.

My shoes came today. I tried them on and I don't know if I like them. Should I workout with them to see how they feel.

They are the Ryka N-Gage XT II size 9.5. http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/19034222/c/93893.html
They fit good. But not a lot of cushiony in the front. I had them on for about an hour walking in the house. I am just not shure how they will be workingout. I tried on a pair of adidas running shoes at Dicks and the had alot of cushion in them I liked them. But I am scared that running shoes would not be good for step and kickboxing. I don't run:)
Here are the adidas that I tried on:

I was also looking at these:

Steph,

I would say try them while working out-if you dont like them I would be interested in buying them from you-so you dont have anything to loose. Try them out and see-you might like them.

I have the ryka n gage and I found that they are great at least for me. I was using running shoes before and my knees and everything were hurting....then I watched the intro on basic step and Cathe says that you shouldnt use running shoes for step aerobics.

But everyone is different.

I don't wear either of those but I recently had the problem of my toes and the ball of my foot going numb during long workouts. The shoe expert recommended switching from an all leather shoe to one that has mesh - not only are they lighter but I haven't had the numbness. Just an idea.... good luck - jasper

That's funny you said that. My Rykas that I have been using are all leather and the new ones are mesh. I think I will workout with them tomorrow and see how they feel. I am also going to order the Asics to see how they feel and then return the ones I don't like. I think I am also going to buy the Adidas running shoes because we are going to Disney the end of April and I need a shoe to wear there. SInce I don't wear my workout shoes outside.
