Long Lean Leg Muscles

Hi. Is there a yoga/pilates type video out there that is good for lengthening the muscles in the legs/thighs? I am a shortish 5'3" so need to focus on thinning out my thighs and believe that yoga/pilates/stretching may be the way to go (along with aerobics and strength training). I bought the Denise Austin Pilates tape that focuses more on the abs (core) which is fine, but I would like more focus on the lower body. Please make any suggestions you feel would benefit me. Thanks

I bet there are some other Method tapes that focus on the legs. I just bought Karen Voight's Body Reform: Total Body Training(Pilates/yoga inspired) but have to wait for a replacement since it's defective. If the cover description is accurate, it's what you're looking for.

I'm not into yoga/pilates or anything like that. But there is one tape that I do enjoy. It's The Joy of Yoga from Crunch. It's inexpensive($10.00) and I feel it works the legs well. Lots of downward dogs, lunge poses, and triangle poses. I really enjoy this tape!! Plus it's not very long. The workout part itself is only about 35min. It has floor and standing poses and the instructor doesn't make a big deal out of using proper words. She'll tell you that if your knee is over your toe in the lunges to just "schoocha schoocha" your foot forward. Also, i know what you mean about the short factor. I'm 5'1". Give it a try. If you don't like it, you'll only be out $10.00. Good Luck!

After doing Voight's new tape, I can't recommend it. Aimee's yoga suggestion or Randi's Stott suggestion look good. But, if you see Precision Toning at a discount store for under $10, grab it.

Hi, just a couple of suggestions for ya. Firstly, Kari Anderson's Angles, Lines, Curves. It's pilates type exercises, and I really feel it in my legs the day after. Also, if it's specifically looking leaner that you want, you could try Teresa Tapp's workouts. There's some info on them at Video Fitness. I'm a cardioholic, so I don't just stick to her workouts, but I was pleased to see my thighs, stomach and butt lost inches adding in her workouts to my exercise program. I went for it because I was worried about bulking up with too much weights/step work, and it seems to do the trick. Still, it's not for everyone, and I add it on to my other workouts, rather than substituting. Finally, just to say that any yoga tape should have this effect at the end of the day - but in a more long-term framework.
Hope some of this helps,
CeeJay
