Like Cathe way better than Power 90X!!

I tried to do Power 90X twice and never finished a rotation properly. Boring boring boring! The yoga was too long and dull. The cardio was boring. The weight work was effective but the same thing over and over.. ugh. I personaly found Tony to be the most anoying person ever.. the over dyed inky black hair and orange tan was too un masculine. Too silly. Too many push ups, too repetative. I could go on and on.

Now Cathe... not a complaint in the world! I am doing Slow and Heavy right now and love it and will rotate with MIS and PS for a while till i am ready for a bit of endurance weight training to mix it up. I feel i can get the same type of strength gains with these as with P90X.... and have fun while doing Cathe cardio! Cathe is never boing and always a fun challenge. Plus i find it weird with P90X doing no circut training for that long.. once i week i love a circut workout to keep things fresh. I never like to say i cannot do something, but P90X.. i cannot do from pure lack of dread and from being bored to death. I love to work out and to lift.. but not with the X!

Am i the only person that feels this way? All i have read has been very positive about P90X. Also the diet is so lacking in proper healthy carbs for energy and i need way more fresh fruit. It is going to the Goodwill bag!

NO!! Wait!!! Sell it on Ebay!!! You can get some bucks for it!!

You are not the only person who feels this way...but we may be the only TWO people to feel this way!

The results were great...but what good is that if he annoys you so much that you never complete a rotation?!

You forgot to mention the music...the horrible music! Good thing I can mute him and the music and take onle the cues!

Don't get me started on his jokes, comments and "humor". Tony acts as though he is God's gift and that is a huge turn off!

I just started the classic rotation. I'm at the end of week 1. So far so good.

I am one though, who can ignore the music, instructor or whatever I may not care for so long as I like the work out. I must say though...there is nothing in this work out that particularly bothers me. Not yet anyway. I don't mind the music because it is not used to keep me in time with anything so even though it's playing I really don't even hear it. I just laugh with and/or at Tony with no problem at all. :7 I love the work outs so far because they are very different from anything I've ever done before. This is not a program I see myself doing verbatim more then once or twice a year simply because I have a short attention span and don't think I'll be able to stick to it more than that BUT I definately see myself pulling out the work outs often to mix and match 'em with my Cathe stuff, etc.

Am I the only one who isn't particularly bothered by Tony's antics??? :p

As far a liking Cathe better than P90X - yes, I agree with you. Not a complaint in the world here about Cathe. I do seem to enjoy doing Cathe workouts much more so than the X. Her workouts are so much fun and usually the time just flies by. Ya gotta love that;-)

However, I just can't seem to get the same results with Cathe that I can get from P90X. I'm still on my first rotation with the X and I miss Cathe terribly. After my rotation is finished, I plan to mix the 2 and see how that goes. I don't follow the X diet. I just don't like restrictive diets. Tracking my intake on sparkpeople.com has done wonders for me. Another Catheite suggested it. So, I really can't comment on the X diet.

I really don't like the Yoga, but it has improved my flexibility. And Tony, well....he makes me laugh. I got shot in the buttocks.....I laugh out loud - what can I say - I like Forrest Gump. I guess you either love him or ya don't.

Also, you could make big bucks on your X program by selling it on E-bay or even posting it here if you feel comfortable doing that. It's a hot commodity!:) You could fill your pockets with cash so you could buy more Cathe.:) ;)

I'm in week 6 and loving it. I think Tony's fun. He's just having a good time. I don't know why people take everything so seriously. Who cares? I think he's funny. But then I like to find the FUN in life. I'm too busy working out to worry about the music much. It doesn't bother me. But the little things don't bother me that much I guess.

I love Cathe too. I love the change. I'd recommend P90X to anybody! It's an awesome program!

Oh Susan, you and I are the same person I think!;):+ Glad to see I'm not the only one who feels this way!:p

Like Wendy and Susan...Tony never bothered me. P90X was the 1st rotation I ever did! I have done a few of them since then. I also added running and a Cathe legwork during P90X. I think having P90X along with Cathe is a great combo....:)

No you are not alone!! I was afraid to say too many negative things about it since it seems that SOOOO many people here love it but I can't stand him. Not only is his personality grating (sorry!), but I can't stand how he won't (or can't) finish the reps with us. I understand he's trying to be like a personal trainer and correct the form of the people behind him, but that just bothers me to NO end! It made me appreciate how great Cathe is and how she does EVERY rep with us, assuming that the people in her cast know what their doing enough to leave them alone.

I may feel differently if I started with PO0X but since I started with Cathe, I have a hard time accepting a substitute.
I also think that so many people are getting results from it because I suspect they've never done a real strength training rotation, lifting VERY heavy and dropping the cardio, over a 90 day period. It's not necessarily the program(and I mean ANY program) that is so great, it's the change of mode/intensity/volume of exercise that gets results. I imagine that if someone started with P90X and did that for a long time and then switched to Cathe, they would get new results as well. It goes both ways. :)

ps I agree about the diet as well. It's lacking in good carbs which are so critical for energy.

I did a rotation of P90X and a smattering of the workouts after I completed rotation, but I got MUCH better results when I went back to my Cathes and lowered my calories. His nutrition plan did not work for me at all, and even though the recovery drink is yummy good and probably very good post-wo, it has a lot of calories. I think I liked Tony at first, but after 3 months I found him a bit grating as well. I just sold my package (thank you fellow Cathe-ite :)). I'll stick with my Cathes, my food plan, and on Monday I should get my new fluidity program - think I'll prefer that. I am happy that so many folks like it, it just wasn't for me.

Not to hijack but Lorrie, could you keep us posted on how you like the fluidity thingy? Thanks!!

Interesting thread. I'm finishing Week6 of P90X's Classic rotation. I am not doing the program to change my body into something it is not ever going to be. I'm just trying to see how much good I can do for it, using this program, within the current circumstances of my life. That means that I can't follow the program 100% (primarily the diet), but I do the best I can. I'm still seeing good progress, even at the half-way mark. I agree with many points here:

* the effectiveness of these workouts is partially in the novelty of this kind of a rotation for most people;

* Cathe's style and personality is preferential over Tony's, but I can handle Tony over the short term. I don't think he takes himself that seriously, so I don't, either;

* Phase I of the food plan is inappropriate for this rotation, and they even say themselves that you should switch out of it whenever you like; when you see your performance suffering. In the "making of the X" videos, the nutritionist states that she put that phase in there because it will cause most people to drop a lot of weight quickly, which will get them excited. It doesn't sound like there's a reason to eat that way, other than it might make the program appear more effective for weight loss than it really is. I don't think following the three phase diet is as necessary to build strength and definition as they lead you to believe. Nor do I think you need to eat their supplements. Good ol' fashioned clean eating works just as well.

* I am glad I am doing the X because I otherwise would never have challenged myself to do so many pull/chin ups and push ups, otherwise, and I think they do great things for the body. It is encouraging me to change up my workouts, and to take my strength training to a new level. An important outcome for me of doing P90X is in giving me new tools and techniques with which I can take into my post-P90X workout life. I am sooooo excited about my post-P90X rotation.

* people have the hardest time, it appears, with YogaX. I've done it every time it has come up in the rotation, and am seeing wonderful results in my flexibility and strength. I know I'll be doing better in Cathe's kickboxing workouts as a result.

* ARX has taken my core strength up a notch. Love it.

I have no doubt that by week13 (heck, probably by week7!) I will be sick to death of Tony and his workouts. But since I know that there is an end to all of this, and much to gain about sticking with it, I can be patient and stick it out. Eventually I will be using the "cue only" option and subbing my own music.

Obviously no workout program is for everyone, and it doesn't bother me if other people don't like P90X. I think it's more important that people know what works for them, and take their own approach. What truly matters is that we are engaged in a workout program at all. IMO, that matters more than what kind of workout program we're doing.

Cheers,
Sandra

>Am I the only one who isn't particularly bothered by Tony's
>antics??? :p

Not at all.
He is an aquired taste, I've found, but I can definitely see the intelligence behind his humour, and I now see him kind of like a goofy brother.

To each her own. And I'm sure someone will be happy as a clam to get the P90X program for a better price!

I don't think SNM would like to have it posted here, as they don't like the forums used for selling and trading workouts.

I am so glad no one got "mad" at me for posting this! I was just curious to see other oppinions con or pro. It is great that there is something out there for everyone to enjoy and be challenged with. I was starting to wonder what was wrong with me not loving the X. Long live Cathe! Heee.

Have a great weekend..

Thanks for the interesting input on this series, I've been on the fence about even trying one the P90X videos so I've been adding more to my Cathe collection. If there was a way to buy or rent one at a very inexpensive cost, I would try it out but not commit to the series.

Brigetterenee,

Great Topic!

I am doing my first rotation of P90X and love it- and Tony. I also love Cathe!

My conclusion so far is that I much prefer P90X's weighted workouts to Cathe's GS, S&H or Pyramids.
But I find Cathe's cardio far more challenging and fun than CardioX, Plyometrics, Kenpo or Core Synergistics.

So, I have the ebst of both worlds! I have been subbing in the Imaxes and Hardcore Extremes on PlyoX days and KPC on Kenpo days. When I feel extra energy I may add a short Cathe cardio premix of choice to a weighted workout day.

Re: Tony's personality/humor, I get it...and like it. Just a matter of personal preference. It's interesting to see how he turns some people off. I find that fun to realize we see the world in different colors.

I do, however, appreciate how he steps away from the reps as he is using this time to point out modifications which I am cued into. I don't find him lame for not finishing the reps, my God, look at that man, he's ripped!

Now, I must be color blind because I don't see the "orange tan". Their all in California! And I would NEVER call Tony "unmasculine".

But at the end of the day, Cathe's my girl!
