light headed and dizzy while working out

I just posted this on "Ask Cathe" but I thought someone else might have some good advice as well. Over the past week I have been feeling dizzy about 20 minutes into Cathe's workout. At first I thought it was because I was working out on an empty stomach, but this morning I ate breakfast and had a small snack prior to working out and still got dizzy about 20 minutes into the workout. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi--
I am not an expert-- ask my kids :) But I can tell you based on my own experience--- I would get lighted--dizzy sometimes so much so I needed to stop my workout. Make a long story short-- I was found to be anemic. I was a bad case--- they almost wanted to transfuse me.After several tests, I was found to be Iron deficient and was placed on iron three times a day. YUCK, huh? That was a year ago and I'm good to go now. My advice would be to have it checked out. Its nothing to take *lightly* ;-)

I would get a little light-headed and nauseous. When I first started working out, I didn't have this problem. But, after a while, I noticed (especially when doing upper body weight work) that I was getting so woozy that I'd have to stop exercising for a while. I could stop for an hour and come back to it later and be just fine. I think that maybe I was holding my breath. Because last week I noticed that while I was doing weight work, I started feeling woozy again, and was almost holding my breath. Strange that after years and years of working out that I'd start holding my breath now. When I started making it a point to breathe, the wooziness subsided. Ever since then, I've been very conscious about my breathing and have not had a woozy spell.

have your bp checked. ever had any problem with it. ??

I used to feel dizzy also, blood rushing to me head. I'm a girl who has to eat. So, I guess it's not that.

Are you new to exercising and try to lift/push too much?

Thanks for all the advice guys. I will definitely have it checked out. I didn't think it was that serious of problem.

I get this when I do afternoon workouts. I don't know what it is. However, when I workout in the morning...I'm fine! But, I do have really low blood pressure and a low resting heartrate. Last time I was at the doctor...my blood pressure was 98/64. My resting heartrate is between 38-40 beats per minute. So...it would appear that I am barely alive!!! Giggle... But, I have been tested for anemia and that wasn't it. But, when I have that dizzy/woozy feeling...I would go grab a handful of raisins or dried pineapple....I feel better. Sugar helps me. I'm not diabetic either...been tested there too. So, I just need the consentrated sugar to make me feel better.

Good Luck! But, if you are truly concerned..there is nobody better to check it out with than your doctor.
