Lifting like girls

Hi Michelle! Sorry to hear I have a kindred spirit! I have basically done very little bi wise for several months.I still can't go heavy, but can do some light stuff. I ice it after a w/o, and have taken some naproxen, but I think mostly rest! Funny ( or not so much) how much you use those things! Hope it heals up for you, and if you find a magic cure, let me know!!!

I have been doing RICE as well. My goal is to be able to do compound work and avoid isolation exercises. BTW, I am from Omaha. Not to far from you!

They had a great gym here...didn't do it justice, but got somebench, inclined sit ups and shoulder presses, light curls and Karen will love this, 1 set if kettlebell swings. I used a 50# bell and started with 2 hands, then right, then as I switched to left...damn near fell on my face, lost my balance and decided to leave those to our " kettlebell queen!! Michelle, feel free to join in on our fun, we are all kinds of self deprecating here!!! Justine, thanks for the info...will look into that. 2w/os, walking and gardening 3 hours, we need to have a blood draw and see what's in there...cause it ain't in mine lol!! Have a great weekend ladies!!

Oh Tom, too funny about the KBs. I'm like that with the stability ball - leave it to Karen (hoco = no go for me!)

Heavy front squats today. Slightly better kg. But only just. Twisting DB bench press - not one for dodgy elbows Tom / Michelle. Lateral raises (then to the front and back) with pathetic little pink Dbs. And still they burned my shoulders!

Roz, good advice the exercise selection for RP. I've already started filling in the spreadsheet....mmmm a bit obsessive (me?) . I'm now regretting not getting 6 days per week. The RP diet has given me enough energy to want to lift every day.

Lisa, lib, Karen hi!

And hi Michelle- we'd love another crazy lifter, if you fancy joining us.

Merry Monday Ladies! Had a good chest day! On bench, worked up in short sets to 200x3 (these 3 were floor press equiv), then 185x5.175x8, 155 2x8 then inclined bench, 5 sets of 8, 15 sets in all. I finished with 40 cable crunches and 25 pushups( this was to failure, last rep a slow grind!!) Chest definitely feels fried...luv that feel!! Hope the week is powerful for all Commando's!!

Home! Trip was wonderful. Food was so delicious! No workouts, but we walked everywhere. Got home to find I lost able it 1/3 of all my plants (veggies), my son didn't water them.

I officially, start ICE month one rotation on Friday!
I am off to plant more veggies, and then study for Thursday's test.
I do feel better, but still dealing with congestion.

Justine, whoa, end of month 5 already? I think you foam rolled a day too early, sounds like you'll be needing some relief after today's deads! Great work! I'm LOVING the streaming options. I have to discipline myself and choose my workout the night before otherwise, yeah, there'd be no time to workout if I chose my routine in the morning. I'd waste too much time browsing!

Tom, you keep swinging for the fences with those kettlebells! :) Way to burn your chest today! Glad the hotel had a good gym for you.

Lib, welcome home! ;) Bummer on the dead plants. Glad your trip was good. I love walking around and exploring new cities! Hope your presentation went well. Excited for you to enjoy ICE!

Karen, Roz, HEY!

Saturday was Metabolic Mashup Live (March 3, maybe?). Sunday was rest. Today was STS Legs Disc 6. Went super heavy (well, for an endurance workout) and I'm feeling it!

Good Morn IronGirls! Loser lat day here. I did 4x10 lat pulldowns at 120#, 1x10 at 90s on dumbbell rows and I felt some soreness in the elbows so I stopped. I dropped to 70s, but still sore so I gave them up. Next I did deads, 205x5(sumo) 225x5 (conv), 255x3 (conv), 305x2 (c). I felt some low back soreness (really minor), so I put 335 on, but wisdom won out and I didn't try it...discretion is the better part of valor!! I dropped to 255, but just did 1 rep because I could feel it wasn't smart. I finished with lat pulls again to get some more work in and did a long set 1x18...better than a no show, but had greater plans! I need to find a "people salvage yard" and pick up some newer parts! Hope all my sistas fare better!

Tom, even though it wasn't what you wanted, you trained smart. An ounce of injury prevention is worth a pound of cure! You seem to be enjoying deads more these days, or am I giving you credit where credit isn't due? ;)

Justine, how was your workout today? Are you still walking the dogs for a couple hours daily? Is RP your next plan?

Waves to everyone else.

FYI, that pained grunting sound you all probably heard this morning was from me, as I was trying to endure the endless pushups in STS Disc 4 Chest, Shoulders, Biceps. Such a tough workout. The language used at times on my part was definitely R rated!

Have a good day everyone!

Tom, Lisa made a great point re training smart, you've progressed with the elbow, so don't you go ruining it now. If you find a body part salvage yard, please let me know where- maybe they'd offer a group discount?

Lisa, I seem to remember those endless push ups. I admire you for choosing to do them. I think I'd have gone for a different disc ;)

I had a bit of a eureka day with my bench press (thank you Dean Somerset). Apparently my bench is too low for my relatively long calves, and my inflexible hip flexors, so I'm not getting proper leg drive. I raised the bench on blocks, and hey presto, an immediate 5% improvement. Yay.

I also had bent over rows and hip thrusts, and I made myself super conscious of preventing the arch in my lower back, so no impressive #s, but it felt good. Must be technique week for me.

Lisa, yes, I'm planning on doing the RP physique templates next - scared of the body builder reps, though. Roz seems to be loving them, and I can't think of a better advert than that.

Hi lib, Karen and Roz.

Howdy Friends! Leg day in Missouri and getting back up the steps was a challenge! I did 6 sets of bench squats, up to a double at 225, 3x10 on dumbbell static lunges, 1x8 staggard deads, isolating 1 leg at a time, and finished with barbell calf raises at 165# x30 x25 x20. I actually have a DENTAL APPT today! Karma!! I chipped a corner of a lateral incisor and it needs a "spa day" to restore its confidence! Hope everyone is chip free and iron heavy! Have a great day all!

XTrain's supercuts today....have you tried it lib? It's great. The time flies by, because there's so little repeated.

Tom, don't you go telling the dentist what to do! Well done on legs - 225 for bench squats is great. And any static lunges are torture!

Beautiful and warm over here. Love it!

Justine, hooray for your personal form breakthroughs! That's so great! Agreed on Supercuts. Good stuff and it lacks the ever-so-slight dread factor I feel for Flextrain. Nice work today! Enjoy that weather. Weather in my neck of the woods is great too so we're spending as much time outside as possible.

Tom, you KNOW you had a good leg day when you can't walk up the stairs in your house. High fives! I think you'll be getting a taste of you're own dental medicine today, but since I'm sure you're super great at what you do karma will be kind to you.

Today I did Crush It Low Impact HiiT Live (1/7/16) + the MMA Boxing combos. A lovely, invigorating cardio workout combo!

Justine, no I haven't. Xtrain is on the shelf for now. It is daunting. It didn't help that I had severe congestion when I last tried one.

I start Round one of ICE Friday!

Been hiding in textbooks since my return from Dallas. Presentation went alright, except we wer to over time. Have an exam tomorrow. Then three weeks until finals! Ugh! So I am definitely going to need ICE to clear my mind and distress my body.

Hi Ladies! Another shoulder day, and I hit it hard! I did 15 sets of strict press (actually 2 of those sets were push press). I worked up to 125# x 1, then did 4 sets at 115#, st pressx3, p press x4. st p x1, pp x4. Then I did 5 sets strict press at 100#, x5x4x4x3x3 and 2 sets at 85#, x10 x8. Side laterals, 25s, 3x10, rear delts, 45s, 3x10, 1 set of shoulder press, 45s x12 and barbell shrugs, 205#, 2 x 30. I finished with abs, seated knee ups, 2x25, and cable crunches,2x20. Justine, glad you have some great weather, and Lib, good luck! Karen and Roz....we miss ya'll!!
